Hey, Jojo was wearing that blue shirt in his 2009 show in Berlin. "This is a brand new shirt! Well, if you'd said that last night you would have got me."
I get a kick out of Tommy's body english at the very beginning of the clip - pseudo-consternation - like he's saying, well- where-the #%@!-are-we-tonight-Jonathan?!
weird: he uses the same chords as "my baby loves love" by edison lighthouse. You can sing it perfectly over the instrumental part of this song, when jonathan goes up a key.
Welll, you mean "My baby loves lovin" by White Plains. Jonathan is sometimes HEAVILY influenced by older songs that could result in copyright infringemnt but, that said, he is a songwriting genius and a fantastic emotional performer.
no, actually I meant "my baby loves lovin'" by Edison Lighthouse. Maybe the White Plains had the original, but whatever, I was referring to that song anyhow. I was just pointing it out.... I love J. richman sooooo much, so no arguments from me. this song is great.
A music appreciation course teacher I had for a class dissed 'Met Him On A Sunday' for having but two chords. That's all it needed to be brilliant...
By the way, I've been playing guitar for thirty years and (a) I can't play like Jonathan and (b) I can't play a barre chord (tiny, inflexible fingers).
My boyfriend could, as he has long fingers of doom - I should try to teach him... :)
I saw him in 2005 in NYC, finally (oh, the number of times I missed seeing him - I was once in Toronto on a weekend he was playing AND with a friend who wanted to see him - but then said friend didn't feel well and I wasn't confident I'd be able to find the place and get back to where I was staying safely at the evening's end). And Yo La Tengo (well, 2/3 - no James, sadly) were in the audience that night in NYC!
He is so amazing live, the videos don't do justice to his vocals and guitar playing. Simply incredible and so much fun. Saw him in KC last week, I took a girl I really like to see him for our first date too.
@rickyb1967 You're so right. I just saw him yesterday in Austin and it was one of the best shows I've been to. A friend lives nearby, so after the show we went to his place, then we got hungry and we walked by the venue where the concert had been, and we saw him. We said hi and had like a 5 min conversation, it was surreal!
He can still rock it with the dance moves.. Anyone know what year this is from? My brother Saw him in 2002 I think in Vancouver And he was rockin the dance moves heh. Wish i could have seen him!! <3
Four years later, I still love this tune.
