That's true, Loretta is certainly one of the greats along with Barbara Mandrell and Dolly. What is even more admirable is their ability, (although Barbara has now retired, but she suffered a lot in the accident), to sustain their creativity over decades. Today Dolly Parton's Better Day album soared into UK charts, all genres mixed,, at number 9 and it just came out there on August 30/31st; She got a lot of airplay on BBC. Just goes to show, if you get played,, people will pay attention.

This is a great song. Unfortunately, all those years ago when Dolly Parton recorded it, views were narrower and it was considered to riskee, just like Down From Dover. So such songs were side tracked as people in the country music business didn't want to take risks with songs that might upset sensibilities. Dolly paved the way at that time in dealing with diffirent themes. She's still doing it her way today.
