  • You saftey babys need to give it a rest.... This is AWESOME

  • ALMA ARKANSAS!!! I live in VB just up the road.

  • I thought you will do something original...

I know a better way to smash a penny. Put the penny on the top of your head and somebody hit the penny with a hammer.

  • haha it only hurts the poor little pennie :'(

  • those pennies look pretty cool after their smashed they look like you could use them as pendents or something

  • Dont ever hang around for the train to come.

If it flies off it can kill you. Do this in a rural area and wait and go get it after a train has come the next day or something. Just dont hang around.

  • very informative and entertaining!

  • if u do that with 1cm x 1cm stone to railway track and when train is gone the stone is dust :D

  • @TheArzonite maybe the stone dissappeared cuz the train hit it?

  • @humanidt no, train crushed it so it came dust.

  • Fine video. Always wanted to make it myself.

  • you'll need three things dumb ass. can u guess the third?

  • @MrMomoitin easy 1, penny 2, train tracks 3, A TRAIN

  • I just did it it was awsome

  • interesting vid

  • Comment removed

  • never put anything bigger than a quarter or else it can take the train off the tracks!

  • or you could go to disney land and use one of there penny presses

  • @CAIDMASTEROFPYRO so your going to go and pay 200 dollars a day at disney to put a penny in a press along with several quaters? or you could put em on the track for free whenever you like

  • @pogoman12345678910 good point

  • Great vid, always wondered how that worked.

  • the best way is to finda stopped frieght train and wen it starts moving it wil slowy and slowy crush the penny and make it longer as well

  • You're a sad person... Don't you have anything better to do ?

  • you obviously don't! you watched it! haha

  • Agreed, but I think that you placing pennies on a train track is a lot more sadder than me watching your pathetic video, It was only really 1 minute wasted of my life, because I stopped watching... But surely it must have taken you at least 15 minutes from recording to uploading time... I just think it's a very sad thing to do Chris, and you're taking it extremely seriously.

Is this your hobby Chris ?

  • it took me a good hour or so actually! But, I had fun! No, this is not a hobby. This is the one and only time I did this. If you check out my other videos you can see that my hobbies are actually making movies and playing drums! Thanks for your concern, but don't worry about me though, I am a very HAPPY guy! Check out " Sub Rosa" and also my "Drum Trio" you can see what I actually AM serious about!

  • lol

  • @thechriscloud I thought it was a cool video

  • Whats sad about smashing pennies on a railroad track? I mean, its something to do rather then setting on your ass watching youtube videos. I think that is a much more waste of time, but hey, I do that to.

  • @conz078

Considering that you watched it; you shouldn't have made a comment like that.

  • @sirdorkster Please do read my previous argument, as I just did, and I do put forward a valid argument, however, I now feel that my comment was a serious act of douchebaggery, and I feel I must have been having an off bitchy day, I do still think this is a sad video, but I now couple that with the view that this guy is genuinely nice, and he makes some decent videos, now... Shut the fuck up :-)

  • @conz078

i read the whole thing and you were out of line, so I don't know why you're calling my comment an act of douchebaggery. Now if I added some profanity or said something else that was derogatory, then that would be considered an act of douchebaggery. Either you're too sensitive or you're trying to find something that I said and use it to argue with me. I am only asking why? Simple question.

  • @sirdorkster Please re-read my previous comment, I didn't call you a douche, at all. However I am calling you a retard, for not reading the previous comment properly :-)

  • @conz078

I never said that you called me a douche. Perhaps you need to re-read what I said again. Watch who you call a retard, lol.

  • tape the pennies to the track i figured that out after loseing four pennies and i tried it with a small pisce of glass and it melted to the track and it looked amazing

  • do it like i did it once, tape it to the track so the penny will stay longer on the track. i tried regular tape, and it was alright. and also, try crazy glue, never done it, but it would be cool. if you can, post a video with the ideas i gave you, i would like to watch that...

  • sorry this was kind of a one time deal. I don't live my the tracks. thanks for the idea though!

  • Just a quick question. I tried this with just a 4 car commuter train, the penny melted into the track. You used a BIG union pacific freight train and it just got crushed. Please reply to tell me what happened.

  • because the commuter train must of been going faster than the freight train and they left a mark on the track so it looks like it melted into the track but it melted into the train wheel and it flew somwere and you cant find it

  • Under this provision, currency defacement is generally defined as follows: Whoever mutilates, cuts, disfigures, perforates, unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking association, Federal Reserve Bank, or Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such item(s) unfit to be reissued, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.

  • Yes it's defamation of currency, but the law is made in reference to attempts at counterfeit production. Take for example Penny rollers - legal because it's for souvenir. This guy should be more worried about getting in trouble with transportation officials than the federal reserve. Haha.

  • yes it is illegal

Defacement of currency is a violation of Title 18, Section 333 of the United States Code.

  • if you smash it 2 times does it just tear. ?

  • never tried it

  • Like..why would it be lol..

  • nope not illegal. Ive looked it up.

  • nope

  • actually im doing fine. HAHA

  • theyre not after him. hes doing 10 years in a federal corrections facility for damaging the pennies now

  • if its iilegal then why do they have those machines at zoos and stuff the flatten and put designs on them

  • what if you taped the penny on the tack then you wouldnt have to try and find it and it would smash more cause all the wheels would run over it not just the first one

  • why is THIS your most commented video?

  • no one will know if you smashed a penny unless you go around liek a fool telling everyone.

  • very illegal. federal offense damaging u.s. currency.

  • so if i ripped a dollar bill it would be a federal offense?

  • The world is now 0.03$ poorest. Anyway, i think the law is different when messing with coins, damaging paper it's illegal, but I don't think they'll send the FBI XD.

  • Actually, If there's less money in the world, the remaining money is worth more. So if you destroy 2 billion in paper bills, then the value of the dollar goes up.

  • i wonder what would happen i you put a whole jar of pennies all over it.. i wonder if some of them would get fuzed together

  • sorry i was high when i wrote that

  • You know it's illegal... Whoever mutilates, cuts, disfigures, perforates, unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking association, Federal Reserve Bank, or Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such item(s) unfit to be reissued, shall be fined not more than $100 or imprisoned not more than six months, or both....

But either way it's awesome to smash coins!

  • no that is not true, it is only illegal if u intend to use that coin as currancy, or at least that is what it is where i live

  • Have you tried stacking the coins I have it works. It makes it sharp.

  • stack them up and you can make 4 leaf clover looking things some times

  • it's can b very dangers my budy got blind with nickle he left on track and train pop it right on his face and inbeded in his eye.

  • Yep. Very dangerous!!! I used to do that when I was a kid watching Seaboard coal trains down in NC. I stopped doing that after one of the pennies I put down shot up, & nicked my ear lobe. I didn't notice right away, but a couple minutes later I did because I had blood all over my T shirt!! My mom freaked out over it big time when she saw what happened. I could've lost one of my eyes, or my throat could've been cut by that dang thing!!!

  • @GP9railfan so the lesson is... get behind something before the train comes :)

  • Indianapolis, IN It is a train that takes passengers to our State fair every year. The rest of the year that section of track never sees a train. The train and track is part of a rail museum and so the train never gets over 25 30 mph.

  • Sorry I was talking about my video I made. yeah if the train was faster etc. I could see how it could do that.

  • depends on how fast the train is going I suspect. This train only travels about 30 mph at the very max.I was standing far from the coins when the train went by to video. This is the only train to travel this section of track and typically it is only 2 or 3 times each year during the summer.

  • Cool video! check out mine. Whoever actually believes pennies or small change in general will derail a train is a total retard. it will take more than a quarter to derail a train. what will derail a train is missing spikes and tie plates that allow the track to move and fall out of alignment.

  • always put them in the middle of the rail coz they can shoot out

  • Don't try it with nickels, they tend to pop out at high speed, and also its made from a harder metal so it is heavier. I'd stick to dimes & pennies, stuff that if shoots out wont do too much damage plus they flatten more.

  • Not a good idea. It's not unheard of for a penny to shoot out from under the wheels like a bullet.

  • dude a coin can't derail a train. Belive me i've tried this twice with a train moving at 60 or 70 mph and the train didn't derail.

  • what kind of 38 year old insults innocent Arkansas people on a youtube comment. that stuff is for 12 year old emo kids. and no, im not violating laws. do your research. i did.

  • lol i was a 12 year old emo still is

  • responding to your message: ok i see your point, but my point is well, ...... im just amazed that someone of your age and "maturity" cant just give a warning or suggestion without so much anger, name calling and pride.

I have yet to insult you or call you something you are not.

im sorry if i scared you or disappointed you. I am not from Arkansas and that was the one and only time I ever did that.

    I wont do it again.

    thanks for your input.

  • ok maybe I could have been more sublte but death is not. I cannot really say too much but then again I"m was not as kindly noticed as you. I was shown the end of a railroad cops gun @ your age. then told just how quickly they could have shot & killed me to save the community at large. bee good kid. ;=)

  • The train was moving pretty fast. Does a penny smashed by a slow train look different?

Can you smash a penny with a newfangled "levitated train"?

  • i dunno...

  • how long did it take for the train to come

  • fortunately these trains came pretty often, like 2 or 3 an hour

  • i did this last night what happens uf u put like a 1pound on it will it work or will the train like break o.O i put a 50 p on it and its the best 50 p ever :P

  • Signing in as a penny-smasher myself.

For those curious, there is a law regarding destruction of money, but doesn't apply here. There is no criminal intent.

Great video, love the slow motion when

the penny flips. Glad to see there are

others out there who know how to have fun.

    Karen Marie

  • poor penny

  • coo vid... the best of its kind on the utube. :P

  • I used to tape them on and i didnt live near a RR crossing but there was tracks in back of my house and isnt this illegal defacing money like that

  • cool and no its not illegal... I looked it up and its only illegal if you try to spend them.

  • I did this with a nickel and I still have it

  • try smashing them together

  • yea i thought bout that later....ill try it

  • That was a nice video man. But where are those long sticks that go up and down at railroad crossing? No lights or bells that a railroad is approaching...man thats dangerousss

  • yea just a stop sign, its insane

  • I like-a the smashed penny-ness!
