hey im using the same amp as u,n im using a fender 70's reissue made in japan....made around the year 1984....any advice on how to get the crystal clear sound
I run my Class 5 through a 4x12, and it sounds gorgeous. The best way I describe this amp is a "JCM45 head in a box". Portable, and great for recording and performance.
With a pickup as hot as an EMG, you're going to get break up really early. You'll be fine as long as you're not looking for the amp to clean up much as any usable volume. One trick might be to switch the 12ax7 with a 12at7, which is a lower gain tube.
I always hoped Marshall would put out an amp like that. But for the longest time, the "rattling" thing steered me away. Now that I know it can be remedied, I'm seriously considering one of these. How do you think it would sound with EMG humbuckers? I'm not looking to play metal or anything like that with it, I just want good tone (Toys In The Attic-era Aerosmith or Dressed To Kill-era Kiss).
I had to hit replay i enjoyed it so much. Great demo, no wasted time, everything you need to get a quick taste of what this amp is and isn't. Well done.
that's actually a BlackJack 21, but your question is relevant - the Fuchs is made with top notch components, and there's no getting out of the fact that the Class 5 is a mass production amp. The Fuchs is more responsive with cleaner harmonics. The Marshall is more of a straight ahead, one trick pony. It's just too cool and such a bargain tho!
I think it's a steal at $400. If I was looking for straight tone, there are much better amps out there, but they're also a lot more expensive. If you need one killer amp, buy a Dr. Z, or go bananas and get a Swart atomic space tone (maybe the best combo I've ever heard). We're talking $2k tho....
Nice demo...would you be able to do one with this amp and a Gibson? Like a Paul or an SG and with the various volume settings. Seems like everyone doing demos is just playing it full blast. Your video is the first I've seen that has some variety....thanks!
Love that reverse headstock Strat!! Kind of turns it into a Gibson Firebird. I can't believe Fender doesn't produce these any longer--they could at least do a MIM version like the Blackmore Strat which doesn't seem to be selling very well from what I hear.
Im glad you posted this video showing the obvious fix for that notorious rattle. Fortunately, my Class 5 does not have that problem, but I know some who do. I will refer them to your video.
the class 5 needed a demo like this, good sound, good lighting, single coils, so where exactly did u put the foam tape on yours? like, on the little lower mounting corners of the chassis?
Sounds very boxy

How do you think it compares to the Lucky 7? In terms of cleans, crunch, and gain available?
Thanks

Yes I gigged with it this weekend, the other guitar player had a 100w Marshall stach and I had no trouble hearing myself.

Are you in the USA. If so where did you buy this amp? I am in CA and cant find it any where...

The foam tape surrounds the upper opening the in back panel, where the panel makes contact with the amp chassis.
