  • aahh the first song with Double Bass...gotta love it :)

  • great video at top of the pops, classic!

  • phil taylor, the godfather of the double bass

  • lemmy is god

    motorhead is heaven

  • THIS FUCKIN' SONG ALWAYS WORKS FOR ME!!!!!!!!!

  • Fast Eddie Clarke and Philthy Animal Taylor and Lemmy...the classic line up :-)

  • I like this guitar player best

  • the result of to much speed...you get a motorhead!

  • Ha Haaa, the guy in the white shirt balls dropped to his socks at 1:25

Never seen a true meatal band before then.

Lemmy made him rethink his life at that point.

Lucky bastard never knew what hit him.

  • Phil Taylor is indeed the best drummer ever. The new bloke's good, but Phil just had a feel for the music. Totally underrated.

  • My haemorrhoids explode in my boxer shorts if I listen to Motorhead loud enough.

  • love this song. the drums are so bad ass.

  • today in the ROCK IN RIO they will be there

  • I think this version is better then the 2007 version

  • This man is so BEAUTIFUL!

    (Lemmy)

  • @Pippimaus1 Beautiful?......thats a stretch.......

  • HAHAHAHAHA! The disco yuppies don't know what to do! Look at them in the song!

  • This is so fast. I can't keep up with the drums. Drums are unbelievable, as is Lemmy's bass style of playing, which no one has managed to ever copy!

  • @deeder2000 ...agreed bro! Lemmy plays the Rickenbacker bass like he is playing rhythm guitar!! Big heavy chords!

  • My favorite and best Motorhead lineup

  • Pour la partie batterie, ils ne se sont vraiment pas fait chier la bite...

  • fucking best hard rock

  • senti ese pedaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal

  • Lemmy's voice sounds exactly like the album, this just blew my mind

  • @sonofabea Lemmy is great singer, but other reason for that can be, that this is playback...

  • this was the fastest, loudest and most beautiful-ugliest band back then...and now some little cunts like "Tokio Hotel" are running around and claim to play rock n roll ...

Motörhead is Satans revenge on mankind!

  • @NukeTheSlut No Motorhead is God's gift to combat Satans revenge of Tokio Hotel!...besides Lemmy is God!

  • thats the most pathetic looking bunch of kids as the soo called "audience"

  • @UFCfanboy7898 well it was 1979...

  • publico qlo penca xD yo en su lugar estaria pegandole a todo el mundo xd

  • Why should there be any dislikes?

  • @LORDGOAT1976 Because some people are born stupid.

  • @LORDGOAT1976 because lemmy probably boned their girlfriend or mother.

  • To all the idiots complaining the crowd are "pussies" etc: This is from Top Of The Pops on BBC1 in England, 1979. The audience rarely knew which 6 bands would be performing each week, and it was hard to get tickets, so it was impossible to target who you'd get to see. Therefore, when someone like Motorhead got a slot, it was almost guaranteed there would me no metalheads there to enjoy it. In short, F*ck the crowd, watch MOTORHEAD, and be thankful that footage like this exists at all!

  • @zepromz That's part of the beauty of it all. It's so fucking ridiculous, because it is rock and roll. You never know when it is just gonna hit you over the head.

  • mate of mine been to ton of metal concerts he said motorhead were by far the loudest he's been to.

  • if you aint gonna mosh pit, go mop shit! gay crowd.

  • ahahah well it is top of the pops aaah

  • Damn this was heavy.

  • 4 people are just OVERKILLED...

  • Wow folks, the crowd seemed lost and confused. As if they were in the wrong concert or something. Awesome song though as well as "Iron Fist"and the "Ace of Spades"

  • I had the opportunity to see them open for Ozzy w/ Randy Rhoads in 1980. It was Ozzy's first tour of the states as solo artist. Badass concert!!!

  • Lame as fuck crowd

  • bunch of the ugliest fuckers out there, but damn could they fucking rock

  • @Blastomath hey if they were a bunch of pretty fuckers, would people rock out cause they're fucking epic, or just stand there in awe of Lemmy's manliness? XD

  • Definitely the 70's!

  • .....and you thought ZZ Top and Rush made a lot of noise for 3 guys.

MH will always be tops in that category.

    \m/ \b/

  • I agree...Motorhead was not the same for me when Fast Eddie left...He did write them guitar parts and melodies along with Lemmy and Philthly Animal Taylor.... I miss them days when me and my friends would pop on any of the old lp's at the time when they were coming out...!!!

  • i know it became boring calling people who disliked good songs on you tube, but i must say that these 4 need a new pair of ears

  • 4 people listens to Justin Bieber

  • noise!!!!

  • noise!!!!

  • feel the noise!!!!

  • Hell Yeah this song is my fav!! Eargasmic solos FTW!!

Btw was Lemmy was born with a beard?!

  • omg he is so young here

  • animal songerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Seen the do this live....bloody loads of times! :o) The lineup has changed, same old Lemmy though, long may it remain.

  • CLASSIC!!!

  • They couldn't do live back then because the music caused distortion in the camera.

There was really only Iron Maiden who played live on Top of the Pops.

  • This isnt playback dumbfucks, they played this song there, you just cant hear :d cause of the original song they put on this vid

  • @AdammTheDude Yes it is "dumbfuck", how else do you propose i can hear the drummer hitting his crashes but not seeing him do it at the same time?

  • @Qzhar

They cut on the original record to this vid, probably to sell on television. Or just a dumbfuck did these long time ago, and spread around the net. But Motörhead never did a playback. If they have got a reason to do this is right now, because Lemmys an old fart. But no because they crank their shit up and play. They dont give a wet shit about Lemmys voice and never gave, they are the dirtiest loudest fuckers around the world.

  • @AdammTheDude This is playback. It's from The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1979. It doesn't matter though.

  • @jamesvolunteer ..and you'll find them doing another playback a year earlier at Top of the Pops with 'Louie Louie'.

  • look how the people rocks man

  • THE ONLY WAY TO FEEL THE NOISE IS WHEN IS GOOD AND LOUD!

  • Phil "Animal" Taylor-The best drummer in the world.

  • @LONELION17

    awesome

  • motorheadgaskit BLOWN ! !

  • @CornCrevice LONG LIVE THE LEMMY \M/

it's amazing, years of drugs, sex & kick ass fuckin rock n roll have taken many great musicians from us...but for both the God Lemmy & the Godfather Ozzy, it's just made them stronger..

if drugs, sex & rock n roll can't kill these guys, i doubt anything can...and so it should be >:D

\M/ LONG LIVE ROCK, METAL, LEMMY & OZZY \M/

  • If Only This Was Live.

  • very heavy and original at its time! love Motorhead

  • The metal militia will be attacking Justin Bieber's video (justin bieber baby ft. ludacris) on the FOURTH OF JULY! Assemble all fans of good music in every genre! (Jazz, Metal, Classical, Classic Rock etc.) On said date leave a comment giving your thoughts on JB, close the comment with -MM. Copy and paste this comment to all the good band videos! (Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Motorhead, Disturbed, Pantera, Iron Maiden, etc. ) PLAY THIS ON THAT DAY OUTSIDE

  • Who would WIn in a fight? Lemmy or god.... Lemmy is GOD!!! Long live Motorhead.

  • God Lemmy looks so young... times sure flies fast! This was in 79... i saw they live in 2010 and i swear they had the exactly same energy! Lemmy is GOD!

  • great camera work, by the way

  • yeah! those were the days! i was born twenty years too late, fuck. but hey, no remorse... :)

  • One of the first songs to have double bass drums all the way through!

Sure, drummers had been playing two bass drums since the early 1950s... but mostly for drum solos and maybe behind the guitarist in the guitar solo.

But this was double bass drums from start to finish as the foundation for the song - every metal does it now, but it was pretty unusual back then... That is where the name comes from, the producer thought it was 'overkill' ;-)

  • i love these guys. 1979? are you kidding me? motorhead has been balls out r & r since day one.

  • haha they r not playing in this vid i no this because the durmmer is playing nothing and when the sound of the crash cymbal sounds the drummer doesnt hit it and they never used to play original music on totp back then they used to mime it but awsome song neways

  • best line up,philthy was the man,met him in athens awesome guy

  • I remember watching this on top of the pops in 1979. My dad was so impressed that he bought the single the next day. When he played it at home he instantly dismissed it as a load of rubbish and threw it away. But for me (aged 12) the lights went on; I rescued the 7" vinyl from the bin and haven't looked back since. This is quality!

  • I remember this on top of the pops (this actual video in 1979). My dad was so impressed that he bought the single the next day. When he played it at home he dismissed it as a load of rubbish and threw it in the bin. But for me (aged 12) the lights went on; I rescued the 7" vinyl from the bin and haven't looked back since. This is quality!

  • The best line up was Lemmy, Philthy, & Fast Eddie

  • great!!!!!!!!!!!!! one of the best bands ever

    but

i think mikkey dee is a better drummer

    then phil taylor was

    motörhead forever

    Hail Lemmy

  • Motörhead - Then, Now, and Forever!!!!!!!!!

    The Clarences

  • im just sayin cause all of u r saying how good they when there not really playing.

  • @elijah108

man i've seen these foos live dont tell me they're not good

  • like in spot they play instruments real?? lol only they fake at spot cuz you dont wana bad quality?? u can get it if they start play song and its going to be like in live so....

  • Don't sweat it, you know what

  • No shit, Sherlock.

  • this is staged there lip syncing. look at the drums he doesnt even hit the crash nor is the high-hat moving.

  • Dont ya know the program top of the pops(this is recorded from there).None of the artists which played there played really live. It always came from the tape. (As I can remember Maiden is the only band which has played there for real 'cos they refused to play from the tape.

  • @Zo7o I also think that Nirvana refused to lipsync, and so when kurt got on stage he sang total shit on purpose to rub it in Top of the pops face

  • the who also played for real way before maiden :P

  • @elijah108

i think the person who posted this video played the actual version of this song over the live

thats why it looks like theyre not playing

and lip syncing? motorhead fucking doesnt lip sync

  • if this is top of the pops then they are lips syncing cause priest did it too. But not Maiden

  • stfu

  • @eliijah108 Where the HELL in the description or in the title do you see "LIVE" who the FUCK cares it's a badass song and thats all that matters

  • they sound the same here as they do now, time has no effect on Lemmy

  • they stayed loyal to themselves , to rockn'roll and that's their virtue, never strayed from that

  • if i was in that crowd i would be the only one head banging lol

  • lollllllllllll

  • seeing them was the best day of my life.

  • First saw 'em in '84..

  • saw them last night but the start, stop antics on stage was a joke. Lemmy said his voice was fucked. fair enuff but punters want a fucking wall of noise, not a doctors fucking report. saying that, it was fucking great!

  • I saw motorhead last night.

IT WAS SO FUCKING LOUD my ears still ring and i met this hot girl.

all i have to say is THANK YOU LEMMY,PHIL AND MIKKE!!

  • They once got the title of the loudest metal band ever - seems to be stil actual!

  • i'm seeing them tomorrow night

  • Jag tror att publiken är död, dom rör sej ju inte!

I think the crowd is dead, they´re not moving!

  • @Ronnie7812 Motorhead killed them!

  • this was recorded for "top of the pop".

    Lemmy forever.

  • wtf is with the crowd

  • Lemmy is a beast!!! That bass solo at the beginning is pretty sweet.

  • cut in the solo, this is the bad

  • One of the best metal song ever

  • one of the best Songs ever never mind just rock and Metal.

  • going to see them soon!

  • I saw Metallica in Nashville 2 weeks ago and Lemmy came up on stage. They played Damage Case and Too Late Too late. Im jealous of you though to see the whole band. They come to the Tennessee area that often. mOTORHEAD ROCKS!

  • overkill tour 1978 liverpool empire-i was there, anyone else out there remember that tour?motorhead got banned from playing there again-dont know why !!!

  • fast eddie+philthy+lemmy=sex

  • @L1B3RTAD99 the very definition of motorhead

  • @L1B3RTAD99 = sex ? (cough) GAY

  • Chrome drum set = Fatty erection

  • Woo hoo... Fast Eddie Clarke..!!!

Best guitarist that Motohead ever had. They definitely lost a bit of their "raw" quality when Fast Eddie left the band to create Fastway. It's a shame that they were never able to convince him to return. Or perhaps they didn't want him to return, who knows... but I love Fast Eddie's sound. StratoBlaster..!!!

  • with Fast Eddie, it was the golden age of motorhead!!!

  • @Tessmage I was with this for a while, but after I listened to Everything Louder Than Everything Else, particularly Killed By Death, I changed my mind.

  • The audience is scared of Lemmy.

  • lol

    I know man

    they don't move!

    lol

  • top of the pops.. top pop and the rest, lol a crap programme for disco and nice shit, the bands were kept in a room for around 6 hours before they got on, no real output for these guys (and others) out there apart from hard gigging up and down the country, john peel etc etc.. at least germany had bremen beat club music laden etc, fuckin great shows, check the rest of the bands on these shows.. man how awful..!

  • i love tthat galoping drums

  • Great Audience :)

  • yah, they're going OFF

  • Great stuff!

Made better by the crowd response!!

  • they cant handle the amazing band that is MOTORHEAD

  • I love the audience. They are like stone statues.

  • yeah music got fast n nasty with these bitches...they never die.

  • That's fucking true!

  • FIRST THRASH METAL BAND YEAH

  • They aint trash

    THERE ROCK N ROLL!!!

  • not thrash...ROCK N' ROLL!

  • im afraid i have to tell you that lemmy is lipsyncinc here

  • The whole band are, the only band to not play with a backing track on Top Of The Pops is Iron Maiden, But to me Motorhead still kick ass, MOTORHEAD FOREVER!!!!

  • and the who in 1973

  • Bought this album on yellow vinyl..... AWSOME !!

  • the only reason this is playback is because the building would've collapsed from the intensity of their playing!

  • LMFAO....YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAA......Motorhead rulez!!!!!!

  • Classic Motorhead Lineup.

  • Wish I was there.

  • This is what got me into Motorhead.I remember being about 15 years old when i saw this on TOTP and went and bought the Overkill album the day after. You've got to remember at the time metal wasn't as extreme as this.

Long live Motorhead and long live Lemmy.

  • This is still some of the most extreme metal ever created, atleast in spirit.

  • FUCKING MINT!!!

  • In the history of TOTP I think only maybe 5 artists ever played live

  • right is play back but motorhead rules!!

  • It doesn't sound live,it's sounds like the studio playback

  • It's playback..

    Lemmy rules!!

  • Remeber this coming on Top of the Pops in 1979 - like it was fast as sh*t then, never heard anything like it on TotP. We knew they were on that night, I mean not like now where ya can get anything so it was a big event - motorhead on telly tonite ! so a few of us were at me mates house watching the sh*te before this came on for what seemed like an age, then it came on WOW. We all jumped up freakin out headbangin the f**k outta each other. Like it was a major event looking back.

  • Motorhead IS problaby

    one the best heavy metal

    bands EVER!!

  • perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This was the first Thrash song (even if it doesn't sound so). Fucking great!

  • Yeah dude...I agree!!

  • God back then this must of been one of the fastest songs there was, now this is pure Heavy Fucking Metal.

  • This is one of motörhead songs that chance the world! Later Slayer, "Angel of Death" did same thing...

  • playback

  • This is great, Motorhead kicks so much ass.

  • still the same fu**ing power after nearly 30 years. unfu++ingbelievable

  • Es gibt keinen vergleichbaren Song mit 3 vorgetäuschten Songenden! Danke Lemmy und Motörhead!

  • 1979 was great year for music. And to think that Lemmy still rocks non-stop in 2008 is amazing. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Great band and fantastic song.
