@Danielkchoi Lol, yeah I can go 40mph on my regular rollerblades with 110cm wheels. You'd think AT's would go at least 60mph without the need to push.
@Danielkchoi Of cource you will, if you fall. Most likely will even die. You have to be prepared to die if you take up a sport like this, and know that every turn can be your last. =P
@Danielkchoi in car such speed doesn't impress. But you should put on rollerblades and go down some hill to gain speed and I guarantee that you'll shit your pants.
although possible, hard to make, expensive, and may take alot of trial and errors to get it right.
same thing with jetpacks, they have been researching for over 30 years. and still can't get it right although you can find some prototypes out there they may cause failures and deaths.
its awesome that people are making stuff and what not but please post videos of actual in life footage that would be more interesting to see any IRL improvement
ud think with that lay out and description and the amout of ppl willing to pour life savings into them theyd b made by now b/c everything is prettymuch in the video so.... gimme gimme gimme
Air treks...They should be relatively simple to build a regenerative brake system to restore power to the battery. Two inwheel motors with ultrahigh output. twin wheel suspension to soak up spills. and high strength wires and cables to connect the parts together. Carbon fibre could be used as the sole and outercasing hmmm its quite possible.
@Sayorutheking The problem was solved the commerical said a 4 kilowatt motor was used to power the air trek riders this will theoretically allow the riders to reach 40 to 50mph. But a MIT student built a motor in the rear scooter wheel roughly the size of an at wheel that can move him.
@dragoonuvl holly Sh!t I wanna see that motor can you give some kind of proof a video of that motor maybe please :))) I wanna fly with these things so bad!
with the technology today its possible...but the problem is the power source, but its possible for the power source to be a very compact battery that can be worn like a bag pack and connected to the air trek
@Thranduil71 Well, technically the systems in Air Gear have some sort of Air cushion system that dampens their fall. But since this propably isn't recreatable in reality, yes, jumping off buildings is not recommended.
airgear was pretty badass ive got an idea on starting but its a really crappy idea and it is almost garenteed to fail so me and my freinds are gonna work oon our super low budget thing over the summer and no you wont move fast useing my idea youll be lucky to move at all if it works
@akirruryuzaki I'm already planning out ideas, but the thing is, that if you want to make it like this, the problem will be the electric.
As from what I see (and have aquired as knowledge from these pictures and various sites), the Air Trek most likely use a wheel hub motor, which in theory uses a rotating electromagnetic field to bring the wheels in motion.
The main problem now is to get enough energy to make those work properly and get 120-180 pounds in motion.
@Suthek With 2 wheels per shoe. And for Air Gear-standarts we'd still need not only get in motion, but with about 80 mph. (which is about the speed Stealth had in his first race for Kogarasumaru).
Given this all still won't include yet the air cushioning system, which enables for the high jumps and "safe" landings. This is basically virtually impossible to do, so yea.
@Suthek well heres a starting shot what if the wheel generated power as it moved? i know it would kill alot of your freedom but such is a price that is to be paid when an idea is starting out the problem with them being there own sorce of power is that you wouldnt be able to break...i just realized what if the "stop lock" was on the side instead of the bottom and it only turned off the motor this way you wouldnt go flying to your death if the things are made as a full speed thing...
@akirruryuzaki but for the most basic idea of these i was planning on useing a beefed up version of those toy cars that when you move them a few times they go for a good while and a fai bit faster then they would if you had simpoly pushed them useing this idea it would be possible to have them move by there own energy after giving a little bit of a start however the downside to this method would be that if they started to move in reverse they wouldnt stop and it would be very difficult to break
not hard to make these. we can make these today if we wanted to. only thing is, the price. motors are expensive. if i had some money to waste, id have a pair of em right now. :D
Im currently working on creating air trek's anyone want in Write me. i hope my plan works so air trek's will actually come to life, then we all shall ride !
@jurgah It's possible today. It's a wheel hub motor. The smallest I've seen so far goes in one of those electrical city scooters, that's a wheel diameter of about 14cm. You can build smaller. Problem will be getting the needed force out of them to reach a decent speed and to get an energy supply to sustain them. And the air cushioning system is I think not really realistic done...Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. The motor itself can be done though.
@Suthek sounds real unrealistic power energy source i'm making up but maybe boiled water w/ superheated steam? I don't know about that one but if people are willling to maybe leave them in the sun for a year when first buying them and that provides for maybe 4 months energy? but then when using only use one day then charge one day unless like party or something idk but this is for real patient people
@swordemon101 the only thing about that would be the size it would need to be ya know then youd have to have te materials so that you wouldnt get burnt. one of the ideas ive had is to make it charge by running like the back wheel has out put energy and the front wheel has input energy ya know? this way its self run but the problem here would be that you would need quite a bit of extra equpment to even move at 5 mph and would seriosly restrict movement
combine these you'll get yourself an AT with motor: weight powered motor + roller blades + air cushioning system + break system that overrides the whole acceleration system.
Well, all you need is thrust, and you can get thrust by putting a wierdly shaped piece of tin foil on a copper wire that is connected to a battery, then this Idea isn't that off the wall, it could work.
Well, the wheels are pretty small, so you would need a lot more power make the amount of rotations fast enough to at least match up with a car. I doubt it's possible to generate that much energy and be able to fit in the AT's.
if it gets real , it will be AWESOME !
