I enjoy listening to Ayn Rand. Some of her arguments are striking. I believe that our society would be much better of if we all practiced objectivism as a philosophy. However, these are human ideas. The problem with Objectivism as a philosophy is that it's too complicated and is very difficult to apply to complex ideas.
@HigherPlanes I would say it is *abstract*, but not complicated. It is all based on reality and reason, and those are accessible to anyone. The basic tenets of Objectivism are relatively easy to grasp; then, of course, you can get into more complex formulations, particularly in epistemology, but that is not required.
@Objetivismo The problem is too many people can't think for themselves, don't want to, want someone to control them or want to control others...it is that simple. If every person could be responsible and pursue his or her own happiness, we would have a much better state...but instead, these days everyone is taught to take care of his fellow man--which can be good if it is volunteery, but unfortunately, it has turned into collectivism.
@HigherPlanes I don't think the ideas are complex. I was very far from objectivism in my philosophy, but I had an open mind. And if a person listen and are willing to learn, then it is easy to understand because it is logical. I think the problem is that people in general are not open minded, and they have a hard time (which is natural) to wipe out all the brainwashing in their mind. The easy wasy around is to say she is crazy and not listen or think.
