@RamboZelda the problem is the source. It wasn't mentioned in OoT, it was in the manga of OoT and, if you didn't know it, is considered as non canonical.

Also, is you take a closer look, the symbol with the tear can be found at the Shadow Temple's entrance.

Given the nature of this TLoZ and with some info of recent interviews, it has been said that here we're gonna tight some loose chains from the other games, so maybe we'll be finally able to understand the origin of the Shekiah's symbol.

At 00:25, the Sheikah symbol already has the tear, but according to OoT, the tear wasn't added until the royal family betrayed the Sheikah. Interesting...
