As someone who learned to play flamenco guitar in Zaragoza, I think she played marvelously. I get an emotional response when I hear the music and I certainly felt it with this arrangement. Congrats to the Grand Rapids Symphony who deserve so much credit.
I would love to hear these artists take on Rodrigo.
You can see Janne-Minke Nijp (Netherlands) perform the piece with orchestra if you search for “Janne-Minke plays Baroque Flamenco.” Three other harpists in the US & Europe are scheduled perform it with orchestras this spring. It’s very exciting for me to see the piece take off like this and see other people’s versions!
Thanks for these comments! I’ll try to answer yr questions: The strings are normal harp strings - but the harp is a CAMAC electric-acoustic so each is amplified individually by a piezo pickup. -and CAMAC built a 'soundboard percussion' pickup into the harp for the percussion section.
And you CAN play this piece. My arrangement is available at HipHarp.com and includes 3 versions for beginner, intermediate & advanced -- all but the advanced playable on both lever & pedal harp.
@stageacter yes it is show-offy for "heaven's" sake all you need to do is, to use one of your senses. its called hearing, if you cant hear it try to remove some cerumen.
I just Love Debra H-C! She always seems to have such a great time when she performs, plus she takes chances; successfully too. Kudos, kudos. This was a great piece of music as well.
Awesome. So inspiring to watch you play. You put the joy into harp playing..... as it should be. Now if I can only figure out how to "channel" you when I try to play the harp. Can't wait to see you play live someday!!!!!!
I don't believe that there is any actual flamenco in this
if there is please tell me what palo this piece is in

@EVANGEORGEUK -- It's not "show-offy" -- it's FLAMENCO for heaven's sake. Played by a virtuosa.

@EVANGEORGEUK - I can hear it just fine. And it is no more "show-offy" (NOT a word) than any other flamenco I've ever heard.

@stageacter its because you never heard flamenco, what you heard is called muzak. in order to hear the difference u need 2 clear your ears.

@EVANGEORGEUK -- Here's a thought -- if you need to be rude, do it to someone else.
