As one a transguy and two a person whos planing to do sexual health as part of my masters i just want to thank you for the gloves idea. I knew gloves were recommend to be worn if your using your hands anyway but never thought of using them that way so thanks for that info.
AAAAH! Not Saran wrap! To the best of my knowledge (as both a sexual health educator, and a line cook) most brands of saran wrap are porous these days, regardless of whether or not they're marked as 'microwave safe'. Please for the love of everything. Don't go using something that could be porous as a barrier meathod.
Other than that, I think this video is very informative. I had no idea dental dams were so expensive. Latex and polyurethane condoms are best to use, especially when buying higher end brands like Trojan or Durex. Lifestyles and other lesser known brands tend to break more often. After having my condoms break enough times I have found that cheap brands are not worth it.
@blobvision How are you storing your condoms? If they're breaking while you're using them as dental dams, they're probably not being used properly and/or stored properly.
I think it's a tad misleading to say that bodily fluids are bad. It's not the fluid itself, it's only if that fluid has been infiltrated by dangerous microorganisms and pathogens that are transmitted sexually. Not everyone has these microorganisms. Of course it's wise to protect yourself when having sex, but it's not true that everyone has STDs, Condoms are just a safety precaution in case your partner or yourself have them whether you know it or not. It's good to use them nevertheless.
More tips: 1) Make decisions about what activities you will do and how you will keep yourself safe in those situations BEFORE going out or meeting anybody. That way you're not deciding those things in the heat of the moment. 2) If T has caused vaginal dryness or thinning, your doctor can prescribe an estrogen cream or ring that acts locally on the tissues without mucking up your hormone levels overall. 3) Communicate with your partner (or demonstrate) the barrier methods you're trying to employ.
@transqueergirl thank you so much! I got a wild hair up my butt last night and decided to do something productive with my evening rather than watch my 50th rerun of Family Guy
