The founding fathers knew the benefits, and consequences, of the 2nd Amendment. In their own day, they saw firearms falling into the hands of criminals through rouge merchants. Indians were regarded back then as we gangs and drug cartels today. They gave us the Second Amendment because they feared future tyrants more than armed criminals or Indians. It was the lesser of evils.

The Founding fathers sought to prevent the rise of tyranny by enabling the lawful arming of its citizenry.

@PairoftheSocks What the US did to the Indians was on the same level as the 6 million people Hitler exterminated in death camps and the 20 million Stalin killed either by execution or starvation. However, something needs to be put in perspective that is often lost to history. The Indians were allies of the British in both the American Revolution and War of 1812. The British encouraged the Indian to attack settlers. The British left America while the Indians stayed behind.

@PairoftheSocks What I just told you explains why the Early Americans hated the Indians. Something else that is not clear to people is that the arrows of the Indians where far more effective then the Muskets of the Americans in 1812. Firearms did not surpass arrows until Colt invented the Paterson Revolver in 1836. It took another 20 years before that technology became wide spread. The reason Europeans used firearms in that period is because it was easier to train people in their use.

as of 2009 states that allow shall carry permits "concealed weapons" have an average of 19.4% lower crime rate. vs states like (idk washington dc?) that do not allow them

the fact of the matter is you're not going to go guns blazing into a convenience store when anyone in their could be packing heat when on the other hand you could do it where you know no one will be carrying guns.

make guns illegal, and only criminals will have them. not law arbiters. be smart.
