You know, I agree with almost everything you have to say (I didn't think Wing was boring, but that's neither here nor there, opposing tastes and all). Wing was the first Gundam series I ever saw, it coming out on Toonami when I was like 8 or 9 years old, and even still, I am eager to see AGE grow and possibly become a great series. I liked Wing, G-Gundam, and to a lesser extent (just because I never watched it as much) 00, and they were all different in some way, so what if AGE isn't like that?
@SacridFire - Its just that Wing had a lot of moments that anyone had been exposed to older shows, kept "facepalming" at the way whenever Wing characters say and do (which was fairly true). Even I when I was a kid, it felt like Wing wasn't even that good. I like Duo... but thats about it! He didn't hold the series well enough for me to care about, since most, if not, all of them had uninteresting character developments (1-dimensional only). Same thing about Pokemon's characters lol.
@SacridFire - 00 works against Wing, since it has nowhere near as "boring nature" feeling. The series had major improvements over Wing. Making me glued to my seat for the story on where it's going, how the characters handle their Gundams (without blowing it all up in episode 1, looking at you Heero), and no announcer to tell the audience about the prologue in every episodes. But hey! That is just me or anyone else's point of view x3

It has to do with people seeing something FIRST, and used their nostalgia as a reason to think it is an awsome show without looking at the flaws. Justice League had a very serious story, for example, but it never went in to the "BOREDOM" territory that made me not care. It was still fun, intense and refreshing plot. @SacridFire Well despite my criticisms towards Wing, I don't hate it. I just think it's overrated. It's a good series to introduce to people, but I personally wouldn't rank it as one of my favorites.
I kinda like Gundam Seed a lot. For Gundam 00, I was a bit disappointed. It reminded me of Gundam X a bit. A lot of people, when they see Setsuna, they're instantly reminded of Heero Yui, but to me he looks like a more experienced battle-hardened Amuro Ray. Mobile Suit Gundam Stardust Memories was great but only had a few episodes. :( Gundam Zeta was probably one of the best! But Gundam ZZ had to ruin it lol! Oh well, I guess it depends on preference.

I know this may sound like a spoiler but thankfully the main villain(hopefully if this lasts) is one badass SOB to the max. As someone in youtube said, its the lovechild of Ali-Al saachez and Nena trinity. LOL.
so far age has gone though its first gen story and so far its been like a retelling first gundam except with a few changes i dont know theres somthing farmilier in all of it but so far its been very good hopefully it stay good
G Gundam took a gamble by being a super robot show. Wing took a gamble with it's bishounen art style. Turn A took a gamble by being lighthearted. Victory took a gamble by being the direct opposite of Turn A. Point is, a Gundam fan never judges a show by the art because Turn A was great and the Cosmic Era shows were the weakest ones.
So true, can't judge it before watching it. I didn't expect much from the look of Turn A Gundam, but liked it. The Seed/Seed Destiny shows looked like it would be good but the story wasn't that great and moved at a slow pace, imo. Gundam Wing - more politically realistic and loaded with the most speeches, imo - after re-watching it and understanding it better, I liked it. G Gundam was good as being unique, but merging two genres (martial arts and mecha) sorta threw off the flow for me.
G U N D A M is a concept. Now from I've seen, since I'm piecing together serieses as I can: I have only a little understanding of what the whole concept of the overall GUNDAM is, I can sincerely say that it matters not what the universe is or really how it's designed visually (although it's nice when it is eye candy) it's mainly the story that is the cool part about gundam. Each series has it's little intricate and elegant story and personally I think age will be cool. Gundam has not changed it
i completely watched G beginning of last year because a friend reminded me of it and i felt nostalgic, then got exposed to Unicorn and was inspired to go back and watch everything, as of now im halfway thru turn A and the only thing left is 00, I was also one of those haters of age, but as of now, 14 episodes in, IM LOVING IT. I would go back and time and force myself to eat a shoe for how stupid I was.
My honest opinion in this matter is this. After seeing a few episodes of Age, I can admit the talent that went into it's creation, and that the show is very well built, but it isn't really me. My honest favorite Gundam, and I don't care how much flak I get, is 0083 Stardust Memory, and it always will be. But I will thank Ban Dai for keeping the series going with a good show.
Hope you'll make a video reviewing each generation of AGE as they finish. Generation one is about to end and it'd be awesome if you could review that.
and to get money requires sponsors, so be prepared if the sponsors(bandai and such) decide to distort the things abit to make a few more bucks off it.

@TheAnimeOverviewer I think reviewing it generation-by-generation is the way to go, the large timeskips are like going to take its toll on you when you take it as a whole.

Also think its worth mensioning that ZZ Gundam was also targeted to a younger audiance as well, despite taking up right after Zeta Gundam. As they say in Gundamn! it was mostly Judau and the Junkyard kids in the begining. The first half of the show was deffinitly kid oriented, but they changed gears mid way through to be a more gritty war story.
It's kinda weird looking back on this video. Now I can say that the people saying it was bad for being a kids show were absolutely wrong...it's bad because of entirely different reasons.

If you've kept up with AGE you'd know that the AGE-1 is going to be mass-produced in the 2nd generation as the Adele MS I believe. Most of the first generation units are probably going to be mass-produced like the Shamdoll Kai is going to be based off the G-Exes/Shamdoll Gundam AGE is aimed generally for children, and for the purpose of selling more models (like every other Gundam series).

A military officer sacrificing himself to save others? That is very cliche in Gundam, the only reason it even opened my eyes a little was because AGE was supposed aimed for kids. The Gundams in 00 were never mass-produced, the GN-X was based on a weaker knock-off version of the Throne and never actually took anything from CB's Gundams. Why bother when the GN-XIII/Ahead was better than the S1 Gundams?

secondly, GN DRIVES! jesus christ. GN drives is the only thing those things even need. the battle field is leveled as long as both machines are GN powered. GN particles made sure that everything is balanced and ruled out any differences in designs and mechanical engineering.
If you have knowledge of the 00 series you'd know that the Kyrios was taken in by the Fed and the parts of the other Gundams were just floating around. The Fed did take the Kyrios in and did "experiments" with it.
GN Drives could be comparable to beam weaponry in Gundam in general, you need it to level the battlefield.

I've never seen why SEED is so hated. sure the body count was lower, but essentially it was Gundam 0079, only they finally had the balls to form a third player intent on ending the war rather than winning it for any one side. Z played with this (AEUG), but Destiny was just the same as Z. Whiny protagonist? Check. Cyber-Newtypes/Coordinators? Check. Love interest gets blown up? You bet.
The only differences are Shinn actually having friends. Oh, and Kira got laid. Sorry Amuro.

@CCharmanderK It certainly isn't the apocalypse. I have only watched the first two episode and it seems fine. I plan on binge watching the rest of the episodes that are out much later this month. For what others are saying it may be silly but then again as long as it isn't Aztec space ninjas I'm okay with that.

Wow this guy is awesome. Just like said I was put off by how this Gundam series looked. My friend said the same thing too and told me that he wasn't gonna watch just for that reason alone. I on the other hand made up my mind to give it a chance. I have to say that this particular Gundam series is showing great potential. Can't wait for it to continue.

It is a good thing that Gundam was made to sell toys(and really, video games and particular series in games like Super Robot Wars), because without those I would have been the same way as these people criticizing a series they had not seen before.

Seed Destiny is the second best selling tv series ever. Seed is third. They don't care if you think in your opinion is bad quality... it was a spectacular commercial success.

watched wing when i was a kid the reason i got into anime and let me tell you i watched 79 and g gundam i watched those two close minded and after it all i loved them almost as much as wing.
@7kiku7honda7japan I find AGE ep 1 is good even if it the script is a lot like 0079 ep 1. At least there is no Gundamjacking this time. I also like the AGE-1 is a nice clean crisp suit with no crazy ass backpacks, million beam guns or magical pixie particles. Its no Exia (My favorite starting Gundam) But its better than Strike at least.
@aliastheabnormal I liked it a bit too. I don't like the AGE-1's design though... I am kinda a fan of crazyass backpacks, and the magical pixie particles didn't hurt anyone. But I'm hoping that it does epic things to atone for it's (in my opinion) lackluster appearance, and for the inevitable AGE-2 to be awesome.

I mostly like Destiny mainly because it gives me much material to ridicule in the stories i make. As the end of Radiant ZAFT season 1 Las Vegas was destroyed by a nuke caused directly by Kira, Athrun, and Shinn. At least two Afghani villages and the city of Kabul were all razed and its people killed by Athrun and Shinn looking for their idiot friend Kira. And Beverly Hills was invaded by a psychotic spellbound Lacus who then becomes evil willingly. And Kira even lead Al Qaeda for a bit...
I really can't say anything bad about age cause I haven't seen the 1st episode, un like some people, But the only bad thing I could say about it is the Character Animation. Like it looks too kiddy, specificly the granpa/ old mechanic. I mean they could have made his apperence more... IDK like his age, but that's justyn opinion. Maybe his character will be more serious or grandfatherly..,

G Gundam took a gamble by being a super robot show. Wing took a gamble with it's bishounen art style. Turn A took a gamble by being lighthearted. Victory took a gamble by being the direct opposite of Turn A. Point is, a Gundam fan never judges a show by the art because Turn A was great and the Cosmic Era shows were the weakest ones.

So true, can't judge it before watching it. I didn't expect much from the look of Turn A Gundam, but liked it. The Seed/Seed Destiny shows looked like it would be good but the story wasn't that great and moved at a slow pace, imo. Gundam Wing - more politically realistic and loaded with the most speeches, imo - after re-watching it and understanding it better, I liked it. G Gundam was good as being unique, but merging two genres (martial arts and mecha) sorta threw off the flow for me.

G U N D A M is a concept. Now from I've seen, since I'm piecing together serieses as I can: I have only a little understanding of what the whole concept of the overall GUNDAM is, I can sincerely say that it matters not what the universe is or really how it's designed visually (although it's nice when it is eye candy) it's mainly the story that is the cool part about gundam. Each series has it's little intricate and elegant story and personally I think age will be cool. Gundam has not changed it

i completely watched G beginning of last year because a friend reminded me of it and i felt nostalgic, then got exposed to Unicorn and was inspired to go back and watch everything, as of now im halfway thru turn A and the only thing left is 00, I was also one of those haters of age, but as of now, 14 episodes in, IM LOVING IT. I would go back and time and force myself to eat a shoe for how stupid I was.

My honest opinion in this matter is this. After seeing a few episodes of Age, I can admit the talent that went into it's creation, and that the show is very well built, but it isn't really me. My honest favorite Gundam, and I don't care how much flak I get, is 0083 Stardust Memory, and it always will be. But I will thank Ban Dai for keeping the series going with a good show.

I agree with everything you said in both episodes.
Also think its worth mensioning that ZZ Gundam was also targeted to a younger audiance as well, despite taking up right after Zeta Gundam. As they say in Gundamn! it was mostly Judau and the Junkyard kids in the begining. The first half of the show was deffinitly kid oriented, but they changed gears mid way through to be a more gritty war story.

Undoubtedly you've heard that they're making a side-story for AGE that will be "darker, and appeal more to UC fans".
Having seen and enjoyed 11 episodes of the series so far, it honestly turns my stomach a little to see Sunrise and co. cave in to the bullshit demands of all these shallow haters.
I mean, AGE reminds me of the shows I saw during the 90's, which helped me become a Gundam/anime fan in the first place, without being overly dark.

If you've kept up with AGE you'd know that the AGE-1 is going to be mass-produced in the 2nd generation as the Adele MS I believe. Most of the first generation units are probably going to be mass-produced like the Shamdoll Kai is going to be based off the G-Exes/Shamdoll Gundam AGE is aimed generally for children, and for the purpose of selling more models (like every other Gundam series).

A military officer sacrificing himself to save others? That is very cliche in Gundam, the only reason it even opened my eyes a little was because AGE was supposed aimed for kids. The Gundams in 00 were never mass-produced, the GN-X was based on a weaker knock-off version of the Throne and never actually took anything from CB's Gundams. Why bother when the GN-XIII/Ahead was better than the S1 Gundams?

If you have knowledge of the 00 series you'd know that the Kyrios was taken in by the Fed and the parts of the other Gundams were just floating around. The Fed did take the Kyrios in and did "experiments" with it.
GN Drives could be comparable to beam weaponry in Gundam in general, you need it to level the battlefield.

I've never seen why SEED is so hated. sure the body count was lower, but essentially it was Gundam 0079, only they finally had the balls to form a third player intent on ending the war rather than winning it for any one side. Z played with this (AEUG), but Destiny was just the same as Z. Whiny protagonist? Check. Cyber-Newtypes/Coordinators? Check. Love interest gets blown up? You bet.
The only differences are Shinn actually having friends. Oh, and Kira got laid. Sorry Amuro.

It is a good thing that Gundam was made to sell toys(and really, video games and particular series in games like Super Robot Wars), because without those I would have been the same way as these people criticizing a series they had not seen before.
I started on Wing(and then watched G Gundam, my favorite, when it first aired in America on Toonami), and because of G Generation Portable, I started watching older shows and I love them all.
I think AGE will be awesome from what I have seen.

In case you didn't notice the video itself made the point that Sunrise doesn't care about what YOU think about a gundam series as long as it sell. It's a commercial show for crying out loud! Seed Destiny is the second best selling tv series ever. Seed is third. They don't care if you think in your opinion is bad quality... it was a spectacular commercial success.

@TheAnimeOverviewer Twilight may have more sales but Harry Potter and Hunger Games are catching up. Granted the Hunger Games still has a small fanbase. Hell Hunger Games is said to be close to Twilight. My opinion? Not even close! Hunger Games is in a class of it's own. And I do agree with popularity being a poor barometer for quality.

@7kiku7honda7japan I find AGE ep 1 is good even if it the script is a lot like 0079 ep 1. At least there is no Gundamjacking this time. I also like the AGE-1 is a nice clean crisp suit with no crazy ass backpacks, million beam guns or magical pixie particles. Its no Exia (My favorite starting Gundam) But its better than Strike at least.

@aliastheabnormal I liked it a bit too. I don't like the AGE-1's design though... I am kinda a fan of crazyass backpacks, and the magical pixie particles didn't hurt anyone. But I'm hoping that it does epic things to atone for it's (in my opinion) lackluster appearance, and for the inevitable AGE-2 to be awesome.

I mostly like Destiny mainly because it gives me much material to ridicule in the stories i make. As the end of Radiant ZAFT season 1 Las Vegas was destroyed by a nuke caused directly by Kira, Athrun, and Shinn. At least two Afghani villages and the city of Kabul were all razed and its people killed by Athrun and Shinn looking for their idiot friend Kira. And Beverly Hills was invaded by a psychotic spellbound Lacus who then becomes evil willingly. And Kira even lead Al Qaeda for a bit...

I really can't say anything bad about age cause I haven't seen the 1st episode, un like some people, But the only bad thing I could say about it is the Character Animation. Like it looks too kiddy, specificly the granpa/ old mechanic. I mean they could have made his apperence more... IDK like his age, but that's justyn opinion. Maybe his character will be more serious or grandfatherly..,

at least seed destiny had great mobile suits. I'm just saying. Don't tell people not to hate on something whilst hating on seed destiny all the way through.
I can tell I'm going to love the battle scenes in gundam age but the human side is going to be very anoying for me. (fat kid and that yeti looking man wtf) although g wing had seriously messed up looking characters too.
Gundam age I'm begging you please be watchable.
