@Paytie100 your missing the meaning its not really saying the ppls lives are wasted well in the first verse they are because they died too young so it was a waste...but in the second verse its more in terms of missed opportunities the dad ignoring quality time with his kid the parents ignoring the teens dreams and the teen forgetting his family...and the married man not wanting his family and then the 3rd verse shows how the ppl from the 2nd verse realize their mistakes

Let me explain what the song means (:

The 1st part of the sonf talks about the people who's lives were wasted by recklessness or sickness.

the 2nd part talks about this kid who's parents neglected him and paid more attention to their dreams.. he moves out because he can't take it anymore . Later on he gets married and he he neglects his wife and children. He wastes hs lfe

The 3rd part recaps on the kid growing up... he's thinking what is going to happen to him and he doesn't want to

i just realized like the first and second verses are kind of a contrast , the first verse talks about lives that are ending and the parents and the families wish beyond anything that they still had their son and father/husband and then the second verse is like talking about life taken for granted, and the parents don't have time for their son and the guy doesn't want his family. i don't know, i just have an epiphany and had to share it with you guys aha.
