I have just purchased this. I have always written songs, but I was...... I suppose too slack to polish and finish them. I was more focused on the music and melody then worrying about the lyrics. This program really does lay everything you need right in front of you. I was a bit reluctant to use it like many others because I thought it would rob me of my creativity, but it has fueled it. I spent the last five hours fine tuning many verses and chorus of old songs. It has really inspired me.

I'd honestly recommend this program to anybody that writes songs or poetry. It's fantastic! This program by NO MEANS writes for you or takes away creativity, In fact I believe it does the opposite.
For one, The way it keeps all of your work together nice and neatly is worth it alone. It's got a rhyme finder, dictionary, thesaurus, etc. built in. Which only helps me express myself more than I could before...
Ok and by the way I am a music teacher, have a degree in music and have taken songwriting classes. I play the piano and write songs. I just don't understand why people would rather feel around in the dark until they stumble across solutions when they can use the little bit of light that can be found. Again this is not the solution to creativity, YOU are but it is a friend that can make the road ahead a litte easier to walk on. Please see it as what it is.
This program is a tool to help the writing process. Just like a guitar, a piano, a computer or even the human voice. Just like with any tool it helps to get a specific task done. How good the end results are and how creative you are depends on your dedication. No program will make you a great writer or take away from you abilities. Also so what if it isn't perfect. Who cares. Use it to help you express yourself. And if your teacher doesn't understand it then that is your problem.
this is like an unnecessary luxury. i don't think true artists should use it, or should need it. i guess when you first start writing it's helpful, but when you get experienced it's not necessary. i at least don't need anything like this to write songs
@alexlikesblue I agree, but it may be helpful is you're having a bit of a brain block. Just to help you along a bit, you don't have to use it everytime.
The more "wrong" your songwriting is, the more potential you have to eventually create something truly special and unique. The more you let a computer database of clichés write your songs for you..well..the more you will still suck!
Trust me people: MUSIC is much bigger than a #1 hit that sounds the same as every other #1 hit released in the past 10 yrs...
All of this stuff about taking the dedication out of music is creating a class of anti-musician. Musicians LOVE to write their own songs.
I just got a hacked version, just to see if its worth the money. I give a 4/5. The program is very good indeed, very easy to use, so many words you can just write simple things & turn it into an awesome song or poem. I gave it a 4 because no matter what, its just too dam expensive, other than that, it's flawless easy to use program wins everything, but again the price mark just kills it. I recommended price point in my view would be from $70 to $100.
@corpus26 I cannot distribute the hacked version of this program, but if I were you. I would try my best to find it (FOR-testing that is...hehe.). It is indeed a very good program, but at that price point, I would just use the good old mind to come up with unique words with my own meanings.
Looks like a good program for new writers, but way too expensive for something that is not as hard as many people make it look like. As a matter of fact, true songwriting has lost its touch many years ago. I personally recommend that if you want to be a serious write, you have to read, read, READ!, from song lyrics to novels, anything readable is more material for you, this is only SS product I think it's not necessary as many may think. No offense to anyone.
this makes the art of songwriting DIE! i mean seriously, it takes no creativity. AND i just saw the word "knifes" which we all know is fucking grammatically incorrect... omfg this is actually really sad the more you watch. i am NOT a published songwriter, but the fact that this whole program operates on "cliches" would make my creative writing teacher vomit from his eyeballs and shit out his mouth, all over the person who invented this stupid crap. do not buy this, ever!
@BonesDGAF021 how do you really feel, I am uncertain... actually you are correct. nice job explaining, pointed, gramatically correct and explicit. go pick out a prize from the third shelf, maybe a nice set of knifes
@BonesDGAF021 I can totally see how this might look like a stupid idea but google Barry DeVorzon, creator of MasterWriter 2.0 and u might have a different opinion. Some of the greatest song writers in history used rhyming dictionaries & were lousy spellers Haha! I'm horrible at staying organized so this looks like a good idea to me. I do get those songs that seem to drop out of the sky often but other times need to work at them for some time to get 'em just right To each his own though Peace
@BonesDGAF021 this program isn't supposed to be a machine that writes your songs for you, it's just supposed to help you expand your vocabulary or maybe give you some new words or phrases to work with or inspire you to work on your own thing. eminem studied the dictionary to have the entire english language at his disposal. this is the exact same thing only more convenient.
I don't like this guys voice!!!

Just think about it,
It keeps all of your work organized and has any information you'll need at your fingertips when you need it most. This is a great tool to have.
I downloaded the demo version. If you're a serious songwriter/poet I'd highly suggest you try this out as well.
