I've won 3 times, but two of those were just weak victories... I finally just decided to leave out Apollo and use Gemini, and then used the Cricket and one of the kicker boosters (forget which) to get to the moon in April 1969.
The Soviet missions were irritating because nearly all the voice overdubs were just some guy with an atrocious fake 'Russian' accent. Really, would it have killed them to find a voice actor (or anyone who can read lines, really) to read in Russian? It would've at least added an air of authenticity, but the way the game is set up seems like it's encouraging you to play as the Americans anyway.
I made a atemt to land on the moon in this game i was playing usa we had to abort the luner landing for some reson i forgot and when we went to re-entry the god damn heat shild failed god damnit!
That's really amazing... especially since it looked like some of those components, like the rocket, weren't maxed on safety (I usually play the US though, so maybe I'm wrong).
I've never come close to winning myself, especially not in that kind of time.
Wow, nice work. I love this game other than the fact that it's helluva hard. I think I played it about 5,000 times back in the day, and won 3 or 4 of them.
Yeah it was. I did it first go without any cockups, which was the weird thing. Then i decided i needed it on film. I then spent the next hour reloading a save to try and do it again. Which i eventually did.
The rarest i think i've ever gotten. IS the guys space suit wouldnt deflate and he died. I Think another time it got a tear in it. It's been a while so i can't remember prescisely
good job. I was lead tester on this game for 9 months, ad have been to the moon every way you can go. My favorite is still the gemini cricket on joint launch boosted titans.
The coolest this is I got to meet Buzz Aldrin when he came for the photo shoot for the cover. And Fritz Bronner gave me an autographed copy of the board game this is based on.
To the last commenter you are an idiot.. its a game. Second. I still have this game.. this is a very hard achievement getting a 2 rocket launch succesful Soviet landing. I have done it as early as 1966 if I remember but its difficult.. I think I just used the 4 person KVARTET spacecraft though.

Мне отчетливо слышится при старте каждый раз "Атмосфера для дураков".

Was that a joint mission moon shot? From what I've read it's like a 6% chance of success.

You should film some of the cockups. I'd like to see how many ways the game would kill the crew.
Mission Failure:
Cosmonaut went on moonwalk, tripped over and cracked his helmet over on a rock. He suffocated 2 meters from the lander.

For Kvartet you would need to use the BIG rocket. As it is this is my only succesful landing :P and i was delighted it worked.
