  • Love VWs, worked on them my whole life. Actually you don't have to have a bell housing, they sell a piece that uses the starter holes and the one right below it to start one, its made out of something like Plastic. I bought a bunch of parts and it was in a box, otherwise I wouldn't have know about them. lol.

  • Hey chris! greetings from latin america , venezuela! i really like all your videos! you really do a nice job on everything, actually because of your videos, im going to buy a couple of VW Bugs! i have a resquest, maybe a lot of owners are interested cause i search on the internet and there is not a lot of information! a video tutorial and how to install a Oil Pressure gauge and a Oil Temp gauge!!! and sorry for my bad english!

  • Hi i have a quick question Chris,I have a 68 vw bug with a 1200cc motor,Well that's what i think it is because of the engine case code starts with D0.I'm confused on knowing what the real size of my motor is because it's a dual port and i recently put on 34 icts dual carbs. Thanks for your time hope to hear from you.

  • @OIID nah thats a 1600 motor you have bud.

  • @majurbludd thats awesome man! Post a video of her!

  • really good chris vid (y) could this work for other engines (well obviusly not exactly the same) but like.. would you be able to start any engine on a work bench because im doing some research for a guy on a forum im on (y) (its a h22 honda engine (2.2))

  • @bigbassdave ya got me, I have no idea about any other engine but the beetle engine. I am sure there are others out there that you can do this to.

  • @brighteyefilms ok mate, thanks anyway mate (y) good luck with the rag top (you'll have to do a video of it when its completed

  • Once again, totally awesome thank you...I was wondering how the whole starter interchange thing works. I was also wondering if it's possible to hand crank a VW engine on the bench? Are there hand crank attachments that you can put on an engine? I have an old engine which I'd like to test on the bench but I don't have a starter. I wonder about using a ratched and attaching it to the flywheel or something heheh....might be a little dangerous.

  • @Figilswif yeah only the real early engines used a hand crank, I have never done it before

  • Great video Chris, thank you!

  • @robzavala you are very welcome!
