  • fuck this movie made me cry when i first saw it omg! a beautiful movie

  • I just finished watching this movie and I loved it. I enjoyed the movie very much bit for some reason, the ending did it for me, I fell in love with it after this epic ending! And I know I have seen this kid in another movie but maybe smaller. Is he really playing it? If not, damn it's convincing lol

I don't play the violin (though I wish I did) but I do play and enjoy playing the piano and I went straight to it after watching this lol

  • @clowicous Nevermind, found out he is a violinist lol

  • does this boy really know how to play the violin? cos if really does, i would be REALLY amused D: i wish my first instrument is violin now, omg :( very inspiring!!!!!

  • @melindasys he is a Chinese violinist named Yun Tang (唐韵)

  • if u think about this.. its kinda awkward cuz hes just playing the solo.. then he stops in the middle of a train station..

if i was one of the spectators id be like.. ok what the hells goin on hahah

  • @KevYuuuu

exactly, and just think the speculators don't even get to hear the supporting symphony, It would sound pretty awkward.

  • My father and I were BOTH crying our eyes out over this scene - apart from the acting, the music and the emotions, it also teaches us about the importance of family and sacrifice, and thats something ANY culture can benefit from!

  • I saw this film at 2 am, on italian Tv.......... Amazing

  • 5 people can't appreciate the beauty of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto

  • of course, the genius player is Asian. I'm like his age, at this point, And i suck

  • @quachingducks dude... its an asian movie, made by other asians

you have the soloist, who is a black homeless man who rises to stardome....

  • @YourMrGuardianAngel and?? your point?

  • @quachingducks its a moot point to say that hes asian

  • @YourMrGuardianAngel ok... I still have the right to say whatever I want. and since when was there a black homeless guy.

  • This is the best end of Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto 3rd Movement I've ever heard.

  • Thumbs up if you're gonna go practice now (:

  • GUYS PLEASE HELP ME! I need to know the name of the song chun plays in the competition. You know?!??! The scene in the beginning when he comes to Beijing and then preforms for the judges. And then his bum teacher is sitting in his chair with his eyes closed. Whats the name of that piece? THANKS!

  • @NexusDoug its called "sunshine over tashkurgan" and i believe its a chinese piece so if you want the sheet music it may be hard to find

  • LoL,his palyaing is as good as Heifetz^^

  • This makes me so sad. When i was like 8 yrs old i watched this movie, and got super inspired by this kid. I guess i thew it all away, my dad got me one of the best violin teachers in Seattle, but i never really practiced. I'm 13 now, and im not as good as i could have been. Guess it took me a while to realize it.

  • dang!....now I wanna go practice my violin....but it's not here with me! lol

  • but in the end, who is the one that is actually bad? is the yu lao shi or isit the girl who lied to xiao chun so that he will leave and she can perform?

  • looks like he's angry and upset with his violin...

  • awesome movieeee but he should clean his violin once in awhile... dats not very good for his tone. haha

  • el chico toca de la ptm con se lla ma lasinfoni de tchaikovsky

  • goosebumps dAMN

  • This is, indeed, a very inspirational and heart-filled movie. It's not just about violin, but the unbreakable bond between father and son. I'm not ashamed to say that i shed tears near the end.

  • This is my favorite movie. In the entire world. I'm surprised it's not more famous. I cry every time I watch this.

  • Excellent

  • Does anyone know the name of the song he plays in the very beginning for the woman in labor?

  • @gri07016 Czardas.

  • i cried during this movie <3 i love the feeling he puts into his music. its so passionate, and it makes me want to start practicing my instrument more <3

  • what's the name of the kid?

  • @kruegerscheanneth The boy's name is Liu Xiaochun, because Liu is his last name and his first name is comprised of two syllables, his father calls him Xiaochun. But because of his accent he adds an "er" (pronounced like a hard "r") at the end, so it's more like Xiaochar.

  • @kruegerscheanneth Liu Xiaochun was the kid's name

  • it's really touch my heart !

  • This scene never ceases to astound me, especially when it represents a son playing for his father with nothing held back in reserve! The whole film, though, is quite good as well (though flawed). -Sean

  • I remember crying to this movie. Movies like this really make life sad because 1) if people like that really do exist, it's disheartening, and 2) it's sad that it isn't true.

  • i cried too on this last scene T_T

  • I love this movie!

  • this scene brought much tears to me when I watched it.....

  • no I mean the piece in this scene watch?v=ZghFEk5eZj8&NR=1 (piano and violin)

  • anyone know what the piece is he plays with the piano in the competition scene? the one where the teacher lies down and twiddles his thumbs? I'm trying to get the score for it.

  • Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto D major.

  • sunshineon tashkurgan

  • A great movie. This scene makes me get chills and I start to cry every time.

  • wow that kid is rly good

  • I just watched this movie in Chinese class in Taiwan. The program I'm with is two months and it's been almost a month already.

I really liked this movie. I'm glad the boy didn't stay with that serious teacher; I wish he'd stayed with the kitten teacher (I loved those kitties and the teacher!). It was really sweet but sad when the dad found the boy as a baby.

  • This move is really great! Every one should see!

  • This movie is the exact reason why the 3rd Movement of Tcaikovsky is my favourite movement of all violin concertoes!

  • This is a great movie!

  • I remember the days when I was so inspired by this movie, and i would watch this clip and run downstairs to practice violin...

In fact, that's exactly what I'm gonna do now : )

  • yeah themusicbeast is right chuanyun li is playing this segment of music

although tang yun is a good violinst too

  • Who's the girl?

  • nm,

I know who she is now

  • amazing. sometimes you can even see the 'dust' flying off and around the violin strings & bow

  • HAHA. well said.

  • I don't know about all that. I've read and heard some excentric stories about several professional musicians. If the movie "Amadaeus" is even 1/4 true. There's one major example right there ha!

  • beautifully done, good cinematography

  • this is one of the best movie i've seen in my life.

  • he's amazing

  • so nice, clean playing. Boy is good.

  • i saw this movie. bad acting, good playing.

  • who's that bitch playing the violin at 1:12 ?

  • haha.... I know this dude.

  • The main actor Tang Yun, how old is he now??

  • about 19 - in 2002 he was 13

  • hmm...an inspiration for every violinist in the world... Someday I want to be like him... I should do it =)

  • tears..

i was in tears by this point.

    Bravo!

  • Hi, I heard that this boy(tang yun) is now studying in Colburn school in LA,is that ture?

  • Yes, he transfered from Bard to Colburn last year.

  • The violin wasn't played by this boy in the movie. The music was from the violinist Chuan-Yun Li, a Hong Kong Violinist who got First Prize of Winiawski Competetion as the youngest competetor.

  • wasn't he in this movie too?

  • yeah, he came out as a performer who learned from the glasses-wearing teacher

  • Brilliant.

This piece really intrigues me - I can't stop watching and listening it over and over again.

    What art!

  • you should hear the whole thing, Akiko Suwanai plays it the best, the first time I heard it live played by Midori I was blown away

  • that kid can play :|

i want to see this movie..

  • it was released in 2003. i am looking for this movie too coz i didn't get to see the whole thing. i know it is a good inspiration for the people who live in this world not only for violinist...and i really don't want to miss it. if you like this kind of movie you should see "the red violin" too

  • i really hated how after the concerto they went and did the hug thing they should have just ended it after the song

  • haha

  • so true

  • Actually I wish the movie ended it right after the song too. The feeling of it would have just been so epic. XD

  • I cried so bad when I saw this movie... it's just so sad and in the end, the whole theater was crying!!!

  • I'm sure this kid is a great musician (Though the music you hear is played by Li Chuan Yun), but he was a horrible actor. There weren't that many violin playing scenes, and there was absolutely no need to bring in a spectacular violinist from the ShangHai Conservatory of Music (Or whatever school he goes to) to act in such a movie.

  • I just adore this!

Such passion you can just feel it!

  • yup... but hearing is feeling anyway

  • This movie is Mandarin Chinese and it's truly inspiring.

  • wonderful, moving..

  • where can i find this movie i doubt blockbuster would have it

  • i love the scene w/ him playing with his teacher(old) when it was their "last" lesson. that scene is so beautiful...

  • somewhere it says the movie is from china/ south korea.... i'm so confused... where is it from? i know it from china cause of the dialect. but where the heck did south korean come from?

  • it's chinese movie you can find it shomewhere though. it released.. like... 2 or 3 years ago.

  • actually it was released in 2002

  • thanks for good information.^^

  • this is certaily my favorite movie for last 7 years :)

  • where do you think can i download the entire film?? any suggested sites?? i think there are no available dvds in the stores already.. i rily nid it asap... THANKS a lot..!

  • im an 18 years old male who likes picking up things and violence. the end of this movie made me cry. that says something.

  • Wow, this kid is amazing at both violin playing and acting.

  • thank you so much¡¡¡

  • the best final ever written for a violin concerto..

  • Aw.. i wanna watch the movie all over again :)

  • This scene is awesome. Hell, the whole darn movie is awesome.

  • i like watch this everyday, i love this part!!!

  • It made me cry too. Can u believe how he sacrificed the finals to see his dad? I bow to him!

  • omg, he is so good, i just love him.

that movie made me cry so much but i still loved his playing!!!

  • That is truly amazing and inspiring. Makes me want to cry.
