@jaynicka11 Dont worry about it. I didn't figure out how to tie a bun until I was 16. Try it this way. Tie a ponytail first and take the tail, wrap around and tie it down using another hairband. No hair pins necessary.

And the reason a lot of us watch these horrible tutorials is because it's entertaining. When you are supposed to be a professional or an "expert", you're basically supposed to be a master of your craft. These are lazy and not very well done.

I barely started to learn to do french braids and mine are better than hers.. and mine aren't very good, lol.

Terri Lynne...brushes and combs are not the enemy. In fact they're quite the opposite. Your styles would be, let's say, more "appreciated" if you would just smooth out some of those sloppy kinks you tend to leave in the model's hair.

Try a french twist, you'd have to twist it quite a bit.... not sure how to explain it. Or you could do a french twist and just let the top hang down.

Curling it would take away some of the length plus it could look really cute.

there are many types of updos you can do with long hair =] (I have hair past my hips). some of my favorites are the chinese braided bun, the logroll, and the figure 8 bun. (you can find tutorials for them on youtube) You can also do different kinds of braids such as french, dutch, rope, four strand, herringbone, crown braid, etc...which you can also find on youtube.

okay, a tip from someone who has done this before this video and had it end a lot better, by myself: you don't need the bobby pins, just use a hair tie after you've twisted the hair into the bun. :]

If I have bits sticking out of my bun, I just push them into the centre of the bun to hide them. Having to use water to style hair into a bun shows a lack of skill - the water dries off and you get even freakier looking bits of hair sticking out!!! Also, if you want a nice fat bun, an unbrushed (almost backcombed) ponytail smoothed down with only your hands will help.

Basic Bun the easier way for long hair:

hold it in a ponytail w/ ur hand

spin is around until it looks like this hair thing sticking up on ur head

then take ur hair band and put it in once and the second time dont pull it all the way thru......

i do a bun im my own hair by first putting it up into a ponty tail at the hight i want the bun, and secure it with a small hair elastic band, then i will twist the pony tail so it starts to twist on itself then follow the flow of the twist and wrapping around the hair elastic that i secured teh pony tail with, keep goin round and twisting untill you get to the end of the hair, then secure with another hair elastic. simple!, oh and you can brighten the bun up by using a hair scrunchie!!

If you have layers, you're going to have lots of loose ends. Using more pins - and the right type of pins - will help.

She's probably better off with a sock bun really.

Search YouTube for "sock bun" and you'll see lots of good videos - and some bad ones too! Look for the Caucasian ones. The African ones often use tons of product or plastic wrap on the bun form! That's pretty gross to watch!
