  • Damn Leno steals everything...i wanted to be a dick!

  • You think Leno writes these jokes? Blame the writer on a deadline with no good material of his own.

  • I've seen all these shows tell the same joke on the same night or the night after. Even Conan.

  • Leno is the unfunniest man on television. If you're less than 65 years of age, you'll find him to be a total BORE.

  • @ElenaRN1 Both letterman and leno are about the same to me. I don't see how people find either of them to be funny. The only thing Leno ever does that makes me laugh are the Headlines from newspapers.

  • The title should be: Lenos WRITERS are pathetic thieves.

Come on, like the guy writes anything himself...

  • Leno was hired because he sounds funny. His show is tightly choreographed and he just does what he's told. When he's let off his leash to do interviews he's god awful, and whenever his guests try to set up a joke, he pounces and steals it like a feral hungry animal. His writers are under incredible pressure to perform and they steal jokes constantly.

  • Letterman should've had leno's spot to begin with, even carson wanted letterman.

  • Jack White summed it up perfectly - "Leno is for senior citizens"

  • Ah come on, its an easy joke, its not fair to say X stole from Y on an easy joke, they both came up with it

  • you can't steal news

  • yea except late night show hosts don't write those monologue jokes, a group of staff writers do. All the hosts do is tell the jokes.

  • @xLilBuddhax Seeing as Fallon, Ferguson and Conan were all writers before they made it on late night it's likely that, while they have help, a good portion of material comes right out of them. Whether preplanned or adlib'd

  • "Nyah nyeee Nyah yeah nyuh."

  • Nah.. thats not stealing

  • I hate Leno as much as the next guy, but simple jokes like this can easily be written separately for two shows...It doesn't scream thievery to me.

  • @TheYellowMic Yeah, I have to agree here. I hate Leno, but it's very possible for two comedic writers to come up with the same take on a topic. It happens all the time.

  • Conan has dont it too ..wait thats right everyone has done it

  • Leno's writers are thiefs

  • He steals everyone's jokes! He steals one from Fallon every night.

  • Leno's Audience is Dying while Conan's Audience is growing. Last Time I watched a Show Starring Jay Leno was The Last Episode of the Tonight Show before Conan took over and I'm not planing to watch another Show including Leno 'till they broadcast his Funeral where I hope O'Brien, Stewart, Colbert, Letterman, Ferguson, Kimmel and Fallon Will dance on his Grave. Rest in Shit you Two-Faced Bobble Head your word don't mean shit Asswipe. PS sry bout the language but i hate this guy :D

  • @Slegnaon Inappropriate language is sometimes appropriate for certain people.

  • Comment removed

  • what a douche

  • im not a fan of leno but this wasn't his fault he doesn't write his show that's very obvious - when the writers went on strike did his show keep going because of just leno?

  • @Dan69WasTaken

Thank you. Most of these jokes are written by writers, the comedian himself.

  • Leno now has the lowest ratings since the Tonight Show began in the 50s. Fuck NBC and Leno. They just ruined that legendary show.

  • "burning down for the insurance money" is pretty much a public domain joke.

  • @gd129 my thoughts exactly, like the "who's gonna build the fence joke".

  • @JesuszillaCorp Apples and oranges. An "insurnace money" joke must be put in a context, which is why Leno looks like a theif here, because the context he used was the same. Their can be only one context for the "build a fence" joke for it to make sense, so that's going to be the same no matter who tells it.

  • @bwc3821 you can burn just about anything thats insured for insurance money, not that special a joke just like my example sir.

  • @JesuszillaCorp sure you could, but why the NBC building, and why NBC? The Build a fence joke only works one way, period, the insurnce joke you could make about anybody.

  • @bwc3821 think your looking to far into this but maybe i can word it differently...like the insurance joke everyone has used it (no matter what the context), same thing with my example (no matter what the context)...your splitting hairs and I'm not exactly sure why. but for your question "why the nbc building? OBVIOUSLY it fit the premise...nothing in this convo has changed sir.

  • @JesuszillaCorp Whether "everyone" has used it is beside the point, it's about how you use it that determines whether it's the same joke. "Build a fence" is "build a fence" is "build a fence". No two ways to tell that joke. The context IS the punchline. An NBC joke can have any (relavent) punchline and a "insurance" joke can have any (relavent) context. I'm not saying Leno stole the joke, just that the "build a fence" example is a poor one.

  • @bwc3821 like i said splitting hairs on a moot point...no ,atter the context everyone has made the joke thats the point context doesn't matter at all just the fact that everyone has made it.

  • i love how people think its impossible that 2 comedy writing teams could come up with the same obvious joke!

  • As much as I don't like Leno; he isn't stealing a joke here. He's more or less mocking Colbert when he has no right to, because he was the bad guy in this whole scenario. Jay Leno isn't funny and he is a deceitful person. This isn't the first time he's caused a fuss for doing something shady in regards to the Tonight Show.

  • conan is a ginger with no soul

  • As long as I live, I will never understand Jay Leno's success. Un-funny middle-aged nerd, and SO hard to look at. That voice, that chin, that body, that hair...

  • @194jms Kind of sounds like Bill Maher.

  • @194jms He looks like the Newt Gingrich of talk shows.

  • @194jms I dont know what ur talking about i think Hes Funny........ He goes Back to the Jonny Carson days

  • @194jms He's like an old ray william johnson lol.

  • You think he writes his monologue?

He didn't steal this joke... one of his writers may have... but Leno's too rich to give a fuck about comedy anymore.

  • Leno is in it all for himself. He doesn't care about his contempories.

  • Jay is a horrible human being, millionaire who has destroyed lives and careers. Dave Letterman picked himself and did his iwn thing, and I am sure Conan will also. Leno is the nightmare coworker who would screw any colleague for brownie points from the boss. He tells the lamest jokes none written by him, his Qs are lame.

  • @Leona10037 Here we go again with the Jay is the Anti-Christ rants. First off, Jay is not evil. He is a comedian & a celeb who changed his mind about retiring. Happens all the time in show business. Also it was NBC, NOT Leno, who pushed out Conan becuz his ratings were low. I like Conan but i'm not shedding any tears for a guy who makes millions & has a new show.

  • Leno Rocks, Conan whines.idk.....

  • @riverstrat Well, if you were on Conan's position, would you just shrug and submit?

  • leno is the best

  • Leno replacing Conan = the first time you don't need Cinemax to someone get f*cked on TV.

  • Jokes like this have been told many upon many a time

  • Leno blows, but I doubt that was a robbery. That was a pretty obvious joke that different people could think of pretty easily. Besides, it was probably written by Leno's writers.

  • @jerryhello100 No, you can't say that for this one: it's a pretty blatant rip-off. There's all sorts of ways you could insult NBC, but to mentioned burning down the studio for insurance money, the day after another tv show does the joke? No, that's not a coincidence.

  • @bernlin2000 Ya think so? Possibly, I'm not going to say with certainty though.

  • Either they're stealing or it's simultaneous creation. If you're a writer, you've got to at least concede it's possible. Wait, what? (stole from Norm McDonald)

It happened the day after? Well yeah, on second thought, it's probably theft.

  • @WriterJohnC Leno doesn't write his own monologue, so it's a staff writer who stole.

  • @BoSoxnation1972 Ultimately he's responsible for what comes out of his mouth. Wouldn't you agree?

  • @WriterJohnC I wouldn't hold a newscaster responsible for reading an erronious story off of a teleprompter, so I can't hold Jay responsible for reading a joke his writer may have copied. He's not pawning off someone else's joke as his own purposefully the way Carlos Menstealia does.

Also, the joke of burning something down for the insurance money when your broke was not an original concept when Colbert's writers wrote it the day before. It's a very common concept, ala jewish lightning!

  • Leno's writers have been stealing jokes for a long time

  • although i still think that Leno stabbed Conan in the back....if you put 10 writers in a room, 9 of them would have come up with the same joke.

  • I'd rather watch Leno steal jokes from douches like Colbert and watch.

Team COCO > LENO and all late night shows.

  • I doubt that was a stolen joke, it's just kind of obvious.

  • 20 writer's. Leno heads a writing staff of 20.

  • If anything say "writer's for the Leno Show are thieves".

  • Leno was merely referencing (or giving a nod to) Colberts's joke.

  • I'm not sure I'm impressed. You know, after stealing a whole show, who cares about the odd joke?

  • Stolen or not, Colbert even performed it better.

  • I am pretty sure almost no viewers caught the plagiarism.

Colbert's audience is young, hip and intelligent. Leno's audience? Not so much.

As a man, Colbert is a very nice, loyal and generous guy. Leno? Not so much.

  • dont call leno a thief. call his writers a thief. Go team coco

  • @bigwilliestyleable Leno is the head of his own show. At the end of the day responsibility falls to him. So I can let the occasional joke copying slide but Leno steels entire SEGMENTS. He stole the Jaywalking segment from the Howard Stern show and, even worse, he stole the "headlines" segment from his own competition, Letterman, as Letterman had been doing the segment that he now calls "Small town news" for YEARS before Leno introduced headlines.

  • Jan 31, 2011 N.Y. Times, "Not so long ago, Jay Leno's primetime experiment had tanked, and Team Coco moved to TBS. What a difference a few months can make. The big-chinned comedian is back atop the ratings, besting his rivals week after week. Leno's is back to king of late night television and victories include the youngsters. Of all the late night hosts, Leno draws the most young adults, more than Letterman, O'Brien, Kimmel, and Fallon." LENO ROCKS! Team CoCo Sad :(

  • @gmcjetpilot We live in a stupid country. Leno's ratings are further proof of that.

  • @gmcjetpilot EVERY make sure to boycott GMCJETPILOTS videos. HE keeps his arguments one sided and when FACTS piss him off or he doesn't like TRUTHS that are presented to him he only posts his response and doesn't allow the other party. And when FACTUAL items, such as networks preferred demographics, are brought up he BLOCKS you from his page. He is as much a coward as Leno is a thief. Of course, as someone who is Pushing 50 he is LOOONG past the demographic so I can understand his butthurt.

  • @CEnforce

    "EVERY make sure to boycott..."

Stop whining CENFORCE. No one listens to you fool. "Boycott"? LOL! I don't care, I block you after 14 ridiculous post. You're a powerful kind of stupid, delusional, don't understand facts; not everything goes your way, not everyone (or many) people agree with you. Save your temper tantrum immature boy. YouTube isn't the real world. Key demo goes to 48. I'm a young wealthy 50, Wife 42 w/ two kids who will be 18-48. Stop whining loser punk.

  • @gmcjetpilot Well, see, HERE, you can see both sides of the argument, you can't LOOK like a petty, vindictive old man who refuses to show boths sides of the argument!!! Instead, you look like a petty, vindictive old man who is FORCED to show both sides of the argument. Maybe you should take your own advice and not take bait so easily on the "not real world" youtube. The Majority of the users of youtube, like it or not, are not old enough to take your side. reality! It's your friend!

  • @CEnforce Take it from me, he is just a troll who blocks anyone who says something he doesn't agree with, even if they're nice enough about it. This behavior should not be condoned here.

  • @cartman414 He's just all upset about the fact that he's too old for the demographic now as well. I didn't invent the concept of the advertisers appeal towards the younger audience. He gets upset because of his own spending habits versus when he was younger but the advertisers see him as an exception rather than the rule. I'm not even saying the advertisers are right but what they want is what they want and Leno, continuously, pulls in less and less of the key demographic.

  • @CEnforce Well whether that's the case or not, he has a huge self-righteous streak. Clicked on his name and found a post where he called Islam extremist. Which is utterly false.

  • @gmcjetpilot You block anyone you don't agree with, before they can even finish, like me, and I was being perfectly frank and cordial. (I found it rich how you were all "Who cares? Get over it." when you can't stop replying to posts about this whole thing.) Not only that, you think being older than most of us automatically makes you wiser. Which is Insane Troll Logic at its finest.

  • @gmcjetpilot Too bad now Letterman is beating him occasionally and winning the top demos.

  • @theod

WONG! Just looked at #'s for Feb, come out yesterday. Leno, Nightline, Letterman, Daily Show and CoCo...Leno is clear #1 ! WhoWhoo. #2 is NIGHTLINE. Best Letterman did was distant #3, never beat Leno; #4 Daily Show, and last lead-balloon sad clown CoCo. Ha ha! Numbers don't lie. Read Jan NY Times article on Leno's ascension to #1 and KEY DEMOGRAPHICS w/ new band, better guest, better bits, solid stand up monologue! Letterman only spikes w/ guest like Obama or when he bangs his interns.

  • @gmcjetpilot Better bits? Like what, Headlines and Jaywalking? If that isn't complacent, I don't know what is.

And it seems that you only acknowledge articles that support what you want to hear, since in another post you said something along the lines of not trusting articles about ratings.

  • Thats an old joke. Leno used that joke in a sketch several years back, so Colbert is the real thief!!!

  • LENO=WIN! LOL

  • The joke is different, but the punchline is the same. That's not theft

  • when CONAN premieres tonight, Leno will be KILLED in the ratings. Fuck Leno.

  • @DesQueJteVois Type in "Conan O'Brien" in google right now and you will get a link to huffington post, WSJ, Hollywood reporter" saying how the first season of Conan is doing so bad in the ratings right now.

  • @DesQueJteVois yeah Leno killed in the ratings alright haha He's still ranked #1 haha eat that shit up and swallow

  • TEAM COCO

  • @BossRecordsInc u like coco huh visit my place planet coco all coco fans are welcome

  • Leno should team up with Mencia and have the "Comedy Thieves" Tour.

  • Yeah, old joke, but someone on Jay's show watches the "Repore..."

Pretty sad, but at the same time, typical.

  • even without the fucking stealing and the sucking the cock, to me he seems like a goof if i seen that guy on the street and he asked me what time was it,id be like what a goof that guy was ..rat

  • Leno didn't steal from Colbert. Leno's writers stole from Colbert's writers.....How was Leno to know this joke had been done? Furthermore, it is not that creative of a joke....pretty obvious and generic - so perhaps nobody stole from anybody. For every thought or reaction that you have to a recent news event there is a good chance that someone else is thinking the same thing. This is especially true when your response is not very creative or ground-breaking -- like this joke.

  • you guys know leno doesn't write his own jokes right?

  • @BoshBargnani He does write some of his own jokes. Not only that, he obsesses over his monologue. He has the final say in what goes into the monologue and he's lying if he says he doesn't know what the competition is doing. Leno is a manipulative robot.

  • @immoley oh you know him pretty well?

  • @BoshBargnani No I don't know him personally. My opinion of him based on what I see in his interviews and on TV and based on what countless others have said about him is that he is manipulative. I don't know what he is like in person or when the camera is not on him, I am talking about the way he appears to the public.

  • @immoley Thats not what it sounded like. It sounded like you knew him and talking about him as an actual person. It's good that you admit you actually have no idea though.

  • When people post videos of jokes stolen FROM Leno, they're the most obvious things that anybody could've thought of, but when videos are posted of LENO taking jokes.....they're damned near word for word and way too clever.

  • To hell with Leno and NBC.

  • JAY LENO IS A CUNT

  • only slow witted, southerner's like gay leno

  • @charger619c Not true. THIS slow-witted Southerner likes bi Leno.

  • this video couldn't have come at a worst time. Now NBC will have to burn the building for the insurance money! *pauses for laughs*

  • Leno = Douchebag

  • omg hes even using the very same words

  • get a life people and stop searching the internet for stupid shit!!!

  • @sammyjs1983 you leno's bitch or something. If not, shut the fuck up.

  • So? Who cares?

  • jay leno is a dick hole

  • hahaha.

    he is ray william johnson.

    well.

    actually.

    its the other way around

but you get my point. cool transition.

  • Leno is such a hack...he either steals or repeats jokes. He is a douche nozzle

  • that dirty fucker!

  • This may indicate that Leno's writers stole that joke, not Leno himself.

  • why does he think he can bad mouth the network that fucked conan out of his job so they could give it back to jay?

  • As much as I dislike leno, who is really to blame for conan losing his job NBC of course, maybe leno whined alittle but NBC had the final say.

  • I hate leno because of the conan thing but they ust read whatever is on the card so he did not copy anything

  • @vianduch88 Yeah but he writes the jokes that's the point. He writes them but someone else just puts 'em on the cue card.

  • I don't like Leno very much, love Colbert, but that joke isn't exactly completely original. I don't think it's too far fetched to see two comics come up with it completely on their own. He may have stolen it, I don't know.

  • Coincidence maybe?

  • Wow the last one i saw was sort of altered and you can say ok they just thought of the same idea, but this is a blatant ripoff.......i already knew he was a hack so whatever....miserable old man only has his fame..and cars..

  • brief, hilarious, pathetic example of how soul-less Leno is. Thanks for the vid.

  • idk i'm pretty sure that's the SAME EXACT JOKE

  • leno likes the dick up his crusty asshole

  • if you believe this then you are a moron......

  • Leno's stolen jokes many many times...But not as many as Mencia. Most of Leno's bits were originally done by Letterman (at least Leno's slightly funny ones, ex: Headlines). Shit, Jay started doing "Don't try this at home" on his new show, which was a blatant rip-off of "Stupid Human Tricks".

  • Not stealing...because as many have said here...the joke is an old one and Colbert wasn't the first one to use it. It wasn't Colbert intellectual property by a long-shot...hence no theft

However, I will say that this shows an distressing lack of originality on Lenos part. Even if, giving the benefit of the doubt, it was formulated independently by the writer on Jay's show...I refuse to believe that not one of them watch the Colbert Report to know that the joke had already been done

  • yeah, that was kinda the point. i wasn't implying literal monetary theft.

  • @easygrip Yes you were! Stop trying to sound deep! You're just goin for the easy grip!

  • @easygrip if this was intentional stealing of the script from Colbert, you should know that Colbert didnt come up with the joke and Leno didnt steal it. Colberts writers came up with the joke and Lenos writers would then have re recorded it as his script

  • what a dumb fuckin vid, as if any of these comedians don't borrow jokes like this all the time...

  • I agree, he's terribly unoriginal. He's been doing virtually the same schtick throughout all his years on The Tonight Show. But I guess his audience is uneasy with change, and he caters to them. I'd much rather prefer Colbert or Conan to this. I outgrew Leno when I was 14.

  • @poops1 what does david letterman have to do with anything? but he is more original that leno by about 1000 miles.

  • Poops, you need to relax and just read the statement before spouting out nonsense. I said I *prefer* Colbert or Conan. It's a personal preference. Not everyone likes Jay. I know, big shock - stop crying... >.> Letterman was never mentioned, personally, I don't care for him either. So what? Not everyone likes Colbert or Conan either. If you're fine with unoriginality, then fine, be happy. You don't need to get your panties in a twist over these things. Seriously... it's not that deep.

  • @DejaWho7

first off, i wasn't even replying to your statement(unless you're also easygrip LOL). maybe that's why it seemed like "nonsense" to you.. try reading a bit more thoroughly next time.....

  • i'm not that person. i don't even know what y'all are arguing about but the more comments people leave, the more popular the video is.

  • @poops1 Sorry again to correct your spelling there professor, but "bein" isn't a word. I think you mean "being". "Gettin" was almost a word. You're just missing a "g" in the end.

  • @simonwedege do you realize what a dumbass you look like correcting everybody's spelling?

Stooopid. Wut? i's not spellin write?

  • @daadstaz I'm not correcting everybody's spelling. Just one guy "poops1", who attacked me, correcting my spelling, and said it's evidence for lack of education. I just thought it was extremely funny that his spelling was actually worse. Especially considering english isn't my mother tongue. But of course it was just to avoid the actual subject, as he ran out of rational arguments.

I don't care if people are mispelling or not, as long as I get the point.

  • @poops1

Wow, good job regurgitating a decade old SNL sketch.

  • @Daelock

you do snl mocks idiots in entertainment, right?? lol you seem stupid enough to think that sketch was celebrating dave's "genius" lol

  • @poops1 Sorry to correct your grammar professor, but names are always spelled with the first letter in capitals. It's "Dave", not "dave".

  • @poops1 you're an idiot.

  • @poops1 Letterman reinvited the Late Night talk show genre, and was clearly the favorite of Johnny Carson. If you can't recognize that, even if you don't like his show, then you clearly doesn't know what you talk about.

  • @simonwedege

"you clearly doesn't know what you talk about"???????

    LOL

dude, you clearly DON'T know english...... :)

  • @poops1 Sorrry.... let me correct my spelling so you can understand it: "You clearly don't know what you're talking about" - mocking my typos just shows you're out of arguments.

  • @simonwedege

LOL pointing out your "typos" indicates what most intelligent people have known all along... letterman only attracts dolts. and since americans have even more intelligent choices now like stewart and colbert, dave is down to his last idiotic(and loyal) viewers(he's last in every key category lol).....

p.s. dave thanks you for your continue viewership... :) and the only argument is that EVERYONE is beating letterman's dumb ass lol... enough for you? :)

  • @poops1 Well, look at my profile. I'm not american or even british. Typos happen when english isn't your mother tongue. What if you had a discussion with a person suffering from dyslexia? Are you gonna judge his intelligence too, based on his spelling?

If you think that's even remotely a right thing to do, then you're dolt. Or something went wrong in your education.

  • @simonwedege

of course i would NOT make fun of someone who is dyslexic... but i most definitely will make fun of an idiot that tries to pose as an intellect (but is also not able to use proper grammar).... typos in spelling can happen to anyone.. but incorrect grammar happens to uneducated people..... LOL

  • @poops1 Danish is my mother tongue, not english. If you wanna point out other people's poor grammar, you should at least perfect it yourself. You're missing a lot of commas to start with. So to use your own logic here, the conclusion must be that you're uneducated.

You wanna continue down this line, or you do wanna talk substance on the subject in matter?

  • @simonwedege

LOL show me places where i'm "missing a lot of commas" in any of my replies....

that's really your best???? LOL of course, i wouldn't expect anything more from an idiot.... :) you clearly "doesn't" surprise me... LOL

  • @poops1 Missing commas, excessive use of question marks and dots. I'm sure your Harvard professors would be very proud of you. Did you use "LOL" in your thesis too? And I'm sure your mother must be very proud of you. Look how far you've come. Pointing out typos and correcting grammar on YouTube.

You're clearly just a troll, since you rather want a grammar fight, than discussing the subject in matter.

  • @poops1 "askin" isn't a word. I think you mean "asking". "Until" is spelled with two L's = "Untill". I could go on if you want.

  • @simonwedege ...The fuck are you smoking? "Until" has one L. Way to be a douchebag AND fuck up at being a douchebag. That's just flat-out impressive. Keep going. Your hypocrisy entertains me.

  • @DejaWho7 Unoriginal? Are you kidding? Couldn't be more of an understatement. I saw Leno do stand-up once (my first mistake), and the guy was telling Menendez brothers Jokes. In 2008. I'm not kidding. Anyone that's seen Leno can probably attest to that too. Late Night's perfect... he's a comedian that's good at putting you to sleep.

  • @GDFullOn Yeah but Leno used the joke the night right after

  • @GDFullOn Jokes cannot be intellectual property. They are not protected by copyright.

  • @GDFullOn While some of your point is true, what are the chances the joke would appear within the next 24 hours?

  • Howard Stern has been saying this since Jay got the tonight show way back...
