actually cats do this with any kind of mint, just put a teabag of pepermint or fennel in front of them an watch the hillarity^^ anything with aetherial oils will do

BTW, not every cat is susceptible to catnip; maybe 1/3 of all cats are unaffected.

However, if you do have a susceptible cat, then don't be surprised when it tears apart your herbal tea bags - as one of my cats once did when i was out of the house. These particular tea bags did have catnip as an ingredient, but the packet was shrink-wrapped and stored in a tin with a close fitting lid. That didn't stop the cat!

I just got a bengal kitten you can see on my chanel and i wonder if it's good for her and also if there is a minimal age before she can try this. I find this on Youtube and never hear about catnip so it's good or not?

@civicturbolive Catnip is just a plant that cats love very much :) it's harmless, give it to your kitten if you like ,there is no age limit :) cute kitten!

I had two cats who died a few years ago. One cat hated catnip whenever he smelled a toy with cat nip used to jerk his head and back away walking backwards from the toy. Another did this with a cat mint plant and the one that hated catnip used to love to roll in cat mint plants.

First of all i'd like to say sorry for your loss. My cat also passed away about 2 years ago of cancer. Anyway,our cat now also doesn't like cat nip. I guess it's a cats version of " SAY NO TO DRUGS"...

rlly? my baby jazzy who died a while back was born without a tail, he didnt even have the bone that connects the tail to the body. all my friends asked if we had it cut off and i was like no way, me and my dad used to joke that the birds took it, cause every spring those darned mocking bids would swoop out of the trees and snatch up little bits of fur from where his tail was supposed to be

what is catnip made out of? Valeriana or a similar plant? Why do they give it to cats, i don't believe it benefits their health, just makes them crazy

Not sure. I read it is "a perennial herb of the mint family". I don't think it is bad for cats but I don't think there has been many studies or anything.. Anyways we don't give them catnip on a regular basis or anything. Actually that was like a one time thing :)

hey ;) yes they are very beautiful but be careful they demand a lot of attention and are very loud ;) if you are a busy studying or working person you will not like this cat after a while :) really loud asking for attention almost all the time. Likes to run around a lot and ruin furniture so need a lot of toys and scratching polls! Its not just from my experience! Several of my friends got Bengals and are complaining now lol.

thanks for the information, anyways So when I get it alot of toys would it claw the furniture at all? I hear you can take it to a vet and they can trim the claws so it wouldn't be that sharp.

what about when your sleeping? I am thinking about adopting a bengal are they generally friendly?

i actually bought a pair of nail snips for a cat and do it my self - its extremely easy when you start doing it from a young age, and the 10 or 20 dollars i paid for the snips are probably less than each visit to the vet - which i would think would be at least once a month.

@ohmygoshmusic lol yeah i had a bengal and yeah, they are severe attention hogs and are really loud and talkitive. Such as yowling in the middle of the night, all through dinner, all through morning and the day, trying to constantly crawl on your lap. our bengal also drooled o.o not sick drool. just...drool whenever he got happy. I wouldn't mind another bengal though since i love attention also XD
