Silverchair is original in my view and opinion and many others think that too. Silverchair is what I call a real band. Get a life, and if you have one then go to hell. Many bands are/were influenced by Nirvana...and Silverchair are one of them. the name Silverchair came from a bad spelling of one the Nirvana's song "Sliver". Just saying.

I honestly don't see this daniel johns/kurt cobain thing. I love both of them but I honestly don't see it. both highly intelligent, kinda same sense of humor...but as far as their music is concerned - I mean there's definitely some influence of nirvana when it comes to freak show but then again it was the whole grunge era and it's certainly mainly the structure of the songs and not their spirit that is the same.

but no offence - so many people share your opinion so I might be wrong anyway lol.

Frogstomp/Freakshow era - it's painfully obvious. These days they're so far from how they started you'd be forgiven they're a different band. (and the silverchair name came from two songs - Nirvana's Sliver and You Am I's Berlin Chair)

nope it's from it's from Smashing Pumpkins Silver fuck and Berlin Chair...Daniel admittedly didn't like Nirvana from the beginning. He started doing grunge because he liked Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.

Nope It's true Daniel Liked Sabbath and The Zep but he WAS influence by Pearl Jam and SoundGarden just look for the interview of Dan in Canada. He said the name of the band was taken from silver fuck by the pumpkins. He also said he that out of all the grunge bands he liked Pearl Jam and Soundgarden and he never liked Nirvana. Chris and Ben said that because Dan liked Pearl Jam his singing is very similar at the beginning....Just listen Israel Son.

sorry mates silverchair got their name from a list of names given to them by their record company-they liked silverchair the most-they would tell everybody the story about "the combined song names" for years because it sounded cooler-also the name silverchair was actually a previously unwanted band name that's from a chapter in the book The Chronicles of Narnia--The Silver Chair-look it up if you don't believe me-& u can confirm the part about them picking the name on Dan John's facebook page ;)
