Just an FYI from one crafty gal to another (love your video's and your dolls, they've been very helpful as I'm looking for a coll for my daughter!) but anyways...the textile medium isn't to smooth the paint, it is to make it adhere permanently to the surface you are putting it on. ;)

The pre-mattel dolls had no lip color at all. So when bought a pre-mattel Kirsten on ebay just used some acrylic paint and mixed a nice subtle color and painted on. Go girl!

I cant find the Textile Medium anywhere but I have found other mediums so I was wondering if there is any other medium that has a similar effect that I can substitute? Also I painted my dolls lips and while it looks barely noticeable its no perfect so what does the textile medium do exactly and does it help the paint job look less noticeable? Thanks

@lulugiles people collect dolls their whole lives...its actually a pretty mature hobby. Maintaining and restoring a dolls condition is really hard work! I mean these particular dolls are worth $100, sometimes more so you want to keep them in the best condition possible. Its not like she's playing with them either. I'm not speaking for everyone one but when girls are given dolls at a young age they don't think as much as to take care of them.
