She's deaf and we do everything in hand signals and she knows a good few commands, most of which are just tricks, (she knows her basics LOL) This is once I've wanted to teach her but wasn't sure how to go about it. I have a dog from a shelter. It wasn't a matter of teaching her tricks, but of figuring out what she could do. She could sit, stay, roll over, play dead, back up, say her prayers, circle, weave between my legs, shake, BUT SHE NEVER WOULD SIT PRETTY. I tried your method today, and she did it! Ok I can get my dog to rest on my arms, but as soon as I try to take them away, which i've been doing by moving my arms up, then clicking when i'm not touching him but he's still up, he won't do it anymore. By this I mean he won't try on his own, or even rest on my arms, he just stares at the floor and won't listen to me. It's been a couple of weeks and my dog usually learns tricks in a day or two. Have you seen a vet with your dog to make sure he has no hip or orthopedic problems? Some dogs may refuse this trick because it feels uncomfortable for them. Just to make sure. :)
