Actually last week they got the supercollider to conduct some simplistic kubla khan theory , when the protons collided. and now Time Machine Tour 2010 ~ packaged to moving pics target mass appeal.
I remember the early years when people wanted to make the Led Zepplin comparisons......well there is no comparison....Zepplin can't hold a candle to Rush!!
They played Xanadu on the R30 tour in 2004. Any of you youngsters might have gone! ;) This is an underrated tune. Nice guitar riff I like playing this one. This tour was a bit gentler in its tone - they got a bit more pop like for sure. But I really enjoyed this set at the time - they brought back Analog Kid and Vital Signs. Medley at the end had Red Bar, Strangiato and Anthem. Can't beat that! Next tour, Counterparts, was better though - that's when they started getting heavy again!
that concert, the stage was just, like, sleepy. the distance of the ticket back at the new orleans arena, wow, way and the back, and sleepytime. Primus rocked. I had a dream that max Webster was there but that's entertainment.
I'm fortunate in that I am old enough to have seen Xanado on their first FtK's tour. The days when they had white shag carpet rolled out on the stage and you where able to lean over the stage at that. Ha ha! Long ago and far way...
IF you look closely at 3:44 you will see Alex p;aying the sequencer (as he sometimes did).... with his nose. Look closely...Lexrst being Lerxst. I always hated the spray painted look of the stage during this tour though. Nothing like the cool carpets they normally used.
I'm pretty sure it's because this was the first tour where he had his kit set up like this. Before this he went with double bass five pieceesque setup.
Probably finally got the perfect feel for his drums now a-days considering that configuration was new to him back then.
theyve always done really cool transitions like that...like the rio DVD were They do By-Tor, into Cygnus X-1 and then into Working Man. Or on the Exit Stage Left CD where they do Broones Bane into The Trees and then into Xanadu.
I love how Rush has a habit of ending one song, and flowing right into the next one...Its such a slap in the face to the audience. One minute you're like...Yay!! XANADU..Then outa nowhere!!!HOLY SHIT!!! SUPERCONDUCTOR!!!BRILLIANT.
I know it's live but I was referring to the album version where Hine does sing the part. But I must say while typing and listening again that I do here Hines distinctive vocal style right here on the stage. What can I say!
The best song from Presto, and the 20 ft bunnies!!!I would love to see them bring both the song and the bunnies back into the live set,or bring back the bad bunny. On the opening night of the Presto Tour in Greenville SC they had problems with one of the bunnies not inflating right.Cause of that it looked like the bunny was dancing.Classic RUSH!
i think i initially didn't like the segue but it grew on me; the way they go from classic to new(er) and two completely disparate sounds is a sweet combo.
Rush should bring back Superconductor , i love this song.

this and previous tours

I had to pause my CD to hear this..
tubeguy2012 4 years ago
I was referring to the fact that Rupert Hine produced Presto. He also happened to sing on Superconductor.
shattercones 4 years ago
At least live. There might have been some over dubbing, I don't know, but Lifeson did actually do some backing vocals on stage here.
BitterCycle 3 years ago
Actually Lifeson handled the backing vocals on this.

n2112bytor2112p 3 years ago
Rupert Hine co-produced the Presto album with Rush!

After listening to it again, I can say that there wasn't any other backing vocals except for Lifeson.

i like the prs for this time period. for some reason, ged's wal sounds more low-end than i've heard. it's kinda odd, but sounds good!
