  • I love Peter Gabriel

  • this was a magnificent sound.. i still liked them thru wind & wuthering.. the hacket work in the 2 gabriel-less albums that follow "lamb", was some of his personal best.. out of the blue sometimes i catch myself whistling los endos.. can't say why.. i remember recording from the radio the live version of "seconds out".. it was a huge moment of sound for me, even tho gabriel wasn't there..

  • Genesis endet in 1975.

  • A very nice play of voices.

  • To bananeskit. Like you never made a spelling error douchebag!

  • it is peter. out in out. beleving you're free!

  • Genesis is and always be Peter Gabrial at the mike.

  • @AscoliChaChaCha A true fan of Genesis should be able to spell Gabriels last name correctly. Idiot.

  • @bananeskit A true user of the English language (especially in front of millions online) should be able to use that language correctly. It's 'Gabriel's' - with an apostrophe. Idiot.

  • You're right of course - later stage Genesis let Banks and Rutherford develop as songwriters too, so Phil wasn't the only one changing the sound, updating it, and bringing the band into modern times (with massive radio hits - nothing wrong with that!)

  • Phil put out some good records, it's just not Genesis the way this was.

  • @tacomadc I agree, if when you say Phil you mean Phil solo. The records that Genesis put out in the 1980s were very different from this, but they were still very much Genesis and some were as good in their own way as this was. All this "Genesis was only good with Peter Gabriel (or Steve Hackett)" or "Phil Collins ruined Genesis" gets very tiresome. The later version of Genesis was different but still good.

  • @tacomadc "Trick of the Tail" is as good, if not better than any Gabriel era album plus it's recorded way better, especially the drums & bass. If you have a good system it really cranks. Phil also was the drummer on the first 2 or 3 Brand X albums which are classics of the fusion genre. On the first Brand X album "Unorthodox Behaviour," Phil's drums are right in front of the mix & sound massive, like he was playing in a cave.

  • oh how i wish that drummer had continued beeing just that!!!!!!

  • If you were there....you know Phil Collins never wrote a song in his life! Just ripped from Genesis time after time.....Peter Gabriel was the most talented individual i ever saw perform live! Better than Mick, better than Bowie, better than Tull, better than Zappa,He was phenomanol!!! One night, they dressed as lab techs and wheeled out a huge test tube filled with bubbling goo, it tipped over and the goo spilled onto the stage, and a hand came out of it and grabbed a mike...you rock Gabriel!LOVE

  • @bigfootshoottokill as much as I love Mick, Bowie & Peter....NONE are as great as IAN ANDERSON OF TULL....

  • Best song ever. period!!

  • Is it just me or is this one of the best songs in the world?

How can someone's voice be any better than this?

    It's absolutely perfect.

  • es gibt alle mögliche schöne genesis songs, habe alle sogar auf venyl, aber der & die lamb lies down habe ich gemalt - ne nicht auf papier, in ner tiefgarage im studiheim kn - unschlagbar.

  • Is this the best song in rock history?I think so.When Genesis was in their prime they had is all.Outstanding vocals, songwriting and the musicianship to match any other prog band. This song is soooooo killer it still sends chills up my spine.

  • @Big77Jim Yes I think this is one of the greatest songs ever written. I know what you mean about the chills. I get them every single time. I don't see how someone can listen to this and not be blown away. And this version...ahhh peter's voice on this version is killing me.

  • Diese Video und Audio Komposition sehe und höre ich mir gerne immer wieder an!

    v.g.

    Achim

  • this music never dies

  • still amazing? yes. Love Phil Collins.

  • PG was Genesis but phil sings carpet crawlers flawlessly

  • ballox

  • @johnwaynegacy94 you ASSH*LE you would'nt know a great band anyway so why bother with you? period. go listen to hanson or justin.flake

  • @modelleg That's the most intelligent description of Genesis ever!!

  • 4 ppl need to wear the bat suit

  • Peter at 3:30 or so black leotarded batman...Sexy what can I say I am seriously twisted

  • @paisleybabee i don't agree; you are expressing a normal reaction to the sight of an androgynous man, and as a matter of fact i have always seen the interplay between Gabriel and Collins on various tracks (especially on return of the Giant Hogweed) as homoerotic make of that what you will ...

  • @frenchexperience You don't agree that he is sexy..or that I am twisted? How about both? Gabriel and Collins...uhhhh...I enjoy their harmonies honestly but as for the rest...umm

  • Mystical song, I love it

  • Is anyone singing??? I can hardly hear the singing....

  • YES GIVE US PLENTY OF PSYLOCYBIL MUSSROOMS TO SURVIVE THIS ILUMINISTIC CREATED CRISIS.WE ARE INMORTAL AND DIVINE,AND THEY ARE NO WORTH A FUCK

  • Genesis did a lot of material later that ranks up there with this. Domino, Home By The Sea, Fading Lights...

  • @kyla2112 No they don't, sorry. But they're OK, I suppose

  • BACK WHEN PHIL DID HIS BEST!!!! DRUMS!!!!!

  • il mio gruppo preferito......

  • GREAT STUFF!

  • there best song

  • Genesis indeed a very unique band, and they had two separate manifestations, one with Gabriel at the helm and the other with Collins. Both turned out some great music, and both Phil and Peter were good frontmen with good voices, though Peter was more flambouyant in his costumes, etc back in the early days. Carpet Crawlers was one of my early favorites, and Mama from the later years ranks right up there!!

  • ... get out...heat there crawlers.. back, back...play it again

  • Ich habe X ne tiefgarage nach dem song bemalen dürfen - lang her , aber unendlich gut - der song

  • this is so beautifull, I always get tears in my eyes when I hear it ...

  • That's my history of one of the best groups, individuals ever been on stage......

  • lol

  • 叙情、幻想のジェネシスの不滅ナンバー、"カーペット・クローラーズ"、傑作ライヴ"セコンズ・アウト"を思い出す、這いずるハケットのギター!

  • I hated genesis for so long when I grew up because of Phil Collins, I ignored any further investigation into their body of work... but now I discover they were actually cool; when Peter Gabriel was at the helm. Loving being enlightened by delving into the back catalogue!

  • @ArchieMoore this one could also be a Collins song. Very similarto the stuff that Phil did in the late 80s.

  • @ArchieMoore You might want to give a good listen to the album "Trick of the Tail". The first few albums after Gabriel left the band had some great songs on them. Genesis auditioned hundreds of potential Gabriel replacements, and they ended up having their drummer become their singer. I must say, that Phil did an adequate job filling Gabriel's shoes in live performances. During the last half of the 70's, Genesis was not that different a band from the Gabriel era Genesis.

  • @Willyeye57 Trick of the Tail AND Wind & Wuthering, don't forget that one. I think it was after Steve Hackett left that Genesis changed (for worse).

  • @Bedulonko Take to Duke's Travels 1980, then forget it.

  • @ArchieMoore you must be from the UK.in the USA we love Phil.

  • @ArchieMoore hate is such a strong word, wouldn't you say ?..Phil's work with Genesis is great, as both drummer & vocalist..he took Genesis into the 80's with artistically inclined prog rock while achieving commercial success when most bands of that genre and era couldn't !.YES seems to have done the same thing in the 80's..Gabriel's work with the band & solo is fantastic as well..i think that as people we should do our best to avoid all negativity and just appreciate great music !

  • @ArchieMoore I did not like Genesis for many years, than started to like and stop to like, when Phil Collins started to save money(only tour additional musicians),and doing two things in the same time(Genesis and boring solo) .I like him when playing drums and being shut up (I am very sad that he is no more available to play drums...that means he will use again drum machine and will sing forever his boring songs...).I hope he will feel soon much better.

  • @ArchieMoore How can you hate Phil? You must be some kind of freak or something.

  • @ArchieMoore The commercial Genesis of the 1980s was a very different band from the more artistic Genesis of the 70s (despite sharing three musicians, Collins, Rutherford and Banks). The early Genesis was more interesting, though it wasn't without some flaws of its own (sometimes too pretentious for its own good)

  • ULTRJE NESSA POHA KRAI

  • @Splik809

    Volte para a tua turma!

  • How many bands where influenced by Genesis?Just off the top of my head I can name lots.Kansas,Rush,Marillion,Styx,IQ,Phallas,Fish,Flower Kings,Salem Hill just to name a few.Even Yes wouldnt listen to them at the time in fear of being changed by them because of the simularity of their music.

  • oh man! i would love to be seeing the live performance part!

  • @V4Illuminati absolutely not!

  • the man is amazing .

  • @V4Illuminati You know Peter Gabriel is singing right?

  • Genesis are like their own genre.

  • @modelleg They are thier own genre and i'm stuck in it. .....gotta' get in to get out you know....ya know......

  • @phxgfx There's no way out...

  • @modelleg 'were'

  • @modelleg lol prog rock bands are always like that. People say pink floyd our their own thing too.

  • That album artwork is epic.

  • Steve Hackett looks chinese here.

  • Amazing stuff. Its just a shame real music is not broadcast on the radio. That's the reason why I don't listen to the radio any more...

  • @evzen1973 Try Radio 6.

  • @edj66 Thanks. I will do :-)

  • @evzen1973 Some of it might not be to your taste, but it's no Radio 1 - they do feature new 'real bands'.

  • capolavoro !!!!

  • wow, were you there? It defo sounds like a 'personal' recording. It's just great to hear! Thank you

  • não gostei, amei, apaixonei, enlouqueci, viva The carpet Crawlers

  • não gostei, amei, apaixonei, enlouqueci, viva The carpet Crawlers

  • Genesis na voz de Peter Gabriel é praticamente místico.

  • Tony Banks on fire...beautiful...what an into...sick just so sick...

  • "Imaginary creatures are trapped in birth on celluloid." It just doesn't get any better. Sure 'it' evolved', but...

Living through this at the time it was created-there was still a war in Vietnam...Whoah, now whadda we got-2, yes 2. '2 wars-in-one'.

No religious pronouncements from me. I'm grateful for inspiration; Caravaggio, Mozart, and yes, (and Yes), Genesis.

  • The pics are not fom that concert. Why you showing this ?

  • Did you record this yourself at the concert? If that's the case I think the place you were at seems to enhance keyboard –and cymbals above everything else giving the impression it may be added on! Not saying it;s the case -just sounds 'different'. There is no sign of Mike's Bass guitar.

Still your upload is appreciated for sure. For those who talk of Peter Gabriel's 'weird' hair if I'm not mistaken he's 'made up' to appear as 'Rael' the character whom the whole story on ‘The Lamb..' is about.

  • @soundspur Those aren't "cymbals" which r part of a drum kit. That is a tambourine. and the keyboards are fine if anything you are getting a bit too much of peters vocals.

  • weird hairstyle peter had.

  • 1:28 TELL me steve hackett doesn't look exactly like a long-haired version of gordon freeman.

  • @tarantinosnumber1fan Who's Gordon Freeman?

  • @Sixalienasa he's a human

  • @ThePinkguns Well I didnt think he was an Elephant!

  • @Sixalienasa He is the protagonist of the highly successful Half-Life videogame series.

    Google it for more info.

  • @MaximillianZakes Video games are for children and those who refuse to grow up. But thanks anyway for trying to enlighten me. I have zero interest in wasting my time playing video rubbish.

  • @Sixalienasa That is the perhaps the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Maybe that was the case back in the days of Pong and Pac-Man, but in this day and age where some actual adults make their living playing videos games competitively, that just isn't the case anymore. They are now basically interactive movies, so does that mean movies are for children as well?

If you're going to say something that stupid, you should just not even bother saying it at all.

  • @MaximillianZakes

And don't forget about Peter Gabriel's über-artsy video games like EVE...loved playing it as a child and still like playing it as and adult

  • @MaximillianZakes wtf r u talking about. get an education. get off the box and talk 2 people. don't be a moron.

  • @whalestail1955 You know what I'm talking about, and I'm right.

To be honest, seeing your writing style, I'm sure that you're just some poor, pitiful troll who has nothing better to do than be an ass. I mean, I find it hard to take ANYONE serious when they pull a "wtf r u talking about" (speaking of "get an education" - spelling/grammar fail) and not even say WHY I'm wrong.

Sorry, but I'm not going to stoop down to your level. Goodbye.

  • gostei, esta versao eu não conhecia.

  • Chissenefrega del video! Senti che musica!!!!!!! Meravigliosa!!!

  • They all look ticked off.

  • music only... w/ some great still pix...

  • Gabriel has one of the strangest hairlines I've ever seen. One of the best voices, mind.

  • VERY VERY GOOD!!!!!!

Song= SUPER!!!! The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway Live= Its Splendid
