I've always hated it when games have you climb ladders by looking up, it's just so awkward, and usually, climbing down is even worse. If the game has falling damage, it's almost guaranteed that you'll accidentally fall off a ladder and die at some point.

I don't know about AVP2, but the original AVP had more falling damage if you were looking down when you hit the ground aswell. Something to do with landing on your head I guess :S So you'd have to look down a ladder to go down it and then when you fell off you'd land on your head and die. lol

Ah, new Helloween goodness. I like the game's efforts to create atmosphere, so far. The 'teaser scare' of bugs jumping out, and the 'waiting for the other shoe to drop' vibe reminds me of Aliens itself. I also like that the all kinds of motion set off the motion detector: that's a nice touch.

Seems like you need to slow down a little though. You keep rushing past stuff like the sign pointing the way to the compound, and buttons you need to push. But we've all done that in one game or another!

You can still tell if something is behind you, in front of you or on either side.

Yes, because your brain calculates the difference in sound based from what you hear from 2 EARS and then "renders" that in your mind as surround sound. Which is why you dont actually NEED surround sound, you just need a pair of decent headphones.

Surround Sound is good, but you can still hear background sounds (like cars out, neighbours, the console, etc), which eliminates the whole point of surround sound.

Believe me, I'm an Audiophile. I have expensive HD headphones and a reasonably expensive 8.1 surround sound system. Playing with the HD Headphones scares the shit out of me far more and you can definately hear in surround sound with Headphones.
