1961? I was a kid then! But remember those days. It was a time of fear, I could not explain it but now I know it was because of the then Cold War, and USA was at the top of the world as a superpower!. Vietnam and the youth protests were only a few years ahead. Any wonder why I am so skeptical now?
The Wonderful World of Color theme song sounds depressing in much the same way as Sing Something Simple's theme song was for a generation of children who had to go to school the following Monday!
Thank you for posting these. This is a newer version of the Hazel show theme than was used in 1961. There's another YouTube video of the Hazel show opening with a 1963 Ford commercial where the older theme song can be heard.
I never saw Mr. ed since the last time I saw it on tv land thanks for bringing the intro to the show back one quick note: Dick Van dyke had the dick van dyke show at NBC affiliate WDSU before going to hollywood.
I would have seen most of these TV shows as a 14 year-old in 1962 in Dublin, Ireland. Yes, I'm in my 63rd year now...
The Irish Television Service opened on New Year's Eve, 1961, and throughout the sixties had the highest percentage of American television shows in the world, outside of the United States, of course. Indeed the fledgling television station even had an American as its first Director General, Edward Roth!
@theprophet20 Fascinating! I wasn't even certain these videos were getting to Ireland, but am happy to know they do and that you appreciate them. You are well informed to know your Director General's name in that time period, and that he was American.
This is news to me. I've read several 87th precinct novels by the late Ed McBain, but didn't know there was ever a TV series based on them. And I am familiar with most of the regulars from the show. Must have been good.
I remember how the introduction of color tv had our parents scrambling for the money to buy a brand new Zenith. My father was the last on the block to get one.
I remember thinking, when we switched it on, "no big deal."
Thanks for the wonderful memories, especially starting off with Ben Casey my favorite ! Franchot was in the 65-66 season he was my favorite. I grew up watching these shows. This was TV at it's best. LindaLovesFranchot

I sure wish they'd release Ben Casey, the 87th Precinct, and The Defenders on DVD.

I'm with you on this one. The Defenders especially!

I second that. Who needs the trash that is on television today?
