While this was a great team, I don't think they would have been able to win the NC. First, they tied unranked SMU. Second, 94&95 were the years of husker dominance. I don't think there has ever been a team that could take Nebraska during that time period.

Please. UT almost lost to an unranked A&M. To win their championship, it took a last second effort by vince (and a botched call by the officials. His knee really was down. sorry.

95 Nebraska, on the other hand, absolutely annihilated every single team they played. Nobody, nobody came close. They beat like 4 teams ranked #2 at the time, all by very large margins.

Was 05 UT good? Yes, very. Were they the best ever? No.

1995 Nebraska was one of the greatest of all time, but they wouldn't have fared well against Vince Young. Not saying they would have lost, but they never saw anyone like him.

95 Nebraska fielded one of the best defenses in NCAA history. Texas would have put up points, but not nearly enough to overcome NU's outrageous offense. Look again at the results. Nobody was even close to 95 NU. 05 Texas on the other hand barely beat a USC squad that wasn't as good as their previous year's team

I'm a Texas fan, but I will even admit to you that the '05 team would not have beaten the 95 Nebraska team. The Husker team of '95 is by far the greatest team of modern college football. Look at their numbers; nobody had even come close to beating them that year. Not only did they have one of the best offenses of all time, they had a defense that shut down Spurrier's great offense in the national championship game. Texas' defense would have gotten exposed by Tommie Frazier and the option.

yes they can, because undeniably texas would not have even been in a bcs bowl game without vince. and texas would have lost the bowl that they did play in because the other QB's on the team werent even decent players at the time whereas vince was practically a legend.
