@fergus1494 Hey, I'm fairly well educated about Internal Combustion Engines..
(Never attended College.. just accumulated knowledge through inquisitivity/desire/NEEDING to know how things work)
Thanks for your input, duly noted.
This has made me think about reliability. That must surely be why F-1 Race engines don't last long. The High internal rotating mass coupled with High RPM's (therefore rapid wear) and needing ultra fine tolerances.
hmm..I would like to see cbr 250 VS rs 250. Personally, i like 2 stroke on engiens lower than 600cc. The es 250, is 2stroke. The only bad with that one, it`s V2. Should be a L2 witch make it faster. Rg 500 (L4, 2stroke) VS Rd 500 (v4, 2stroke). The rd have nooooo chance!
DAY-AM,WHY in the WORLD Honda is no longer MAKING THESE BIKES and MUCH MORE Importantly, the ENGINES TO THESE BIKES,is BEYOND ME!! I can SURE AS HELL TELL YOU..............it's NOT for the fact that COST to build these, would OUTWEIGH the DEMAND for them!! C'mon,WHO'S WITH ME HERE??
@menom7 I read your comment. But your point was completely lost when I (the reader) got annoyed by your frequent and unnecessary use of capitol letters.
@produKtNZ OH?? Sorry to HEAR THAT.........as ANYONE who's WELL-READ should already KNOW that CAPITALIZATION and CORRECT-PUNCTUATION,is KEY to ascertain the "Authority" given to certain WORDS!!!! In OTHER WORDS............if YOU don't LIKE IT...................then DON'T READ IT!!!!
@seannz100 Not sure what you mean, ill explain anyways, On the video it shows 6 digits, so when i saw the comment that he had now down 83,000kms, it had 530,000 before, so i was wondering why he was usuing 5 digits, my question was, dont you mean 830,000kms? i have now found out that the last digit does not count as km, only the first 5.
the bpost below this was intended at the "its fast forwarded" idiots, not the owner of the CBR. nice bike though! but ill stick with my I-2, i like the smooth power curve, VERRY predictable for a beginner rider. easier to handle than my rm125 dirtbike.
@BunjeeJumper , I started to learn on the CBR250RR, it was nothing if not predictable. More power is never a bad thing, as its your right wrist that controls it. The throttle works both ways my man
@kuantumfyzix I was thinking the same thing, here in the US for 250 sports the only bikes taken seriously are Honda and Kawasaki (I actually kind like the kymco too, but still think it is a third as well...), problem that keeps Honda under Kawi is that it is a single cylinder engine, wish they still had these I4's today... that would be a sweet bike to commute on.
wow, some people are seriously ignorant. 1999 ninja 250, 40hp. 300lbs. better power/weight ratio than any commuter econobox, and the acceleration of a camaro. or spend 4 grand and get one brand new! mine was less than a grand used, with under 9k miles. bikes=snappy little death machines.
@Airr91 wow. mate. seriously. the video is not fake, ever heard of power to weight? nearly any sport bike can do a 5 second 0-100, and any liter bike that isn't geared backwards can hit 3 seconds easy.
@DannyDarko667 come on... this is fake! its so obviously fast fowarded. only supercars can do that... and when you do it in a bike... there is a high chance you will die painfully
@Airr91 oh fuck... can you get info before talking? you have not idea how fast can be a motorbike, 90% of 1000cc. sportbikes can go faster than a supercar that costs lot of money...
@Airr91 No man your wrong there, cbr 250rr's are so fast......45bhp and only weigh like 145kilo....i got a hornet 250, a de-tuned version of this engine, and can get 0-100 in about 6-7 sec maybe less, havnt timed it exactly
@roxiesrox No we don't. We sell the single cylinder CBR250 which will barely break 100mph. This is a 4 cylinder CBR250RR with a red line of 20,000rpm and a top speed of 120mph. It is a completely different machine.
@sinofallsinners And does your bike have a 250cc engine, NO it doesn't. The original CBR 250RR was and still is one of the fastest 250cc 4 stroke bikes you can get. Your point is invalid because you are clearly comparing a 250cc bike to a much higher capacity bike, a comparison which should never be made.
@ThatScottishGuy1 and you are right my friend! let me explain i ride a YZF600 genesis...and i have been beaten off the line and outrun, not by much! but my point is my friends CBR250 will run 0-60MPH in 3.0 seconds. this bike did 0-100 KMH in 5.2(which is 62MPH)...my point is a CBR250RR is supposed to be REALLY FAST, like outrun me on a yamaha genesis fast! this bike seems a little slow? but none to less this a beautiful bike!! id love to have one..im not arguing or stirring shit..just imo
The pre 1990's cbr's are slightly faster than this model, and arent restricted to 180km/h. Pretty impressive take off and clutch control to keep the revs around the maximum power range.
actually they made unrestricted RR's in 1990 (L) model and i can vouch for over 180 speeds they go nearer 200kmh, mc14e engine # and mc22 frame, have a look in the manual.
@MrHajicat or you can get the less gimicky 89 cbr and have a bike that doesnt look as good but go's better. The only upgrade in the later cbr's is the looks<- to sell more hint hint. + back in 89 your better off with the lighter faster fzr250 3ln1 that sold 3 times more then the cbr at the time before they did the same and made the bike heavy fancy and rubbish haha. 89 was the year for all the race replica 250's. The gsxr250 was even made back then. but the 89 zxr was heavy and guttless till 90+
im not trying to one up you or anything but i have ridden a 3ln fzr250r wih the x up system, i wouldnt say they are any better then the cbr's. the same if anything, i havent ridden the zxr or gsxr, i havent even ridden the 89 model cbr. i just have a bias towards the 90 model. im for the double front disc brakes an bent swing arm.
@MrHajicat no worrys. I like cbr's and anyone knows a cbr will outlast an fzr without being touched. Expect 30-40 thousand k's before a new engine lol! I only like fzr's due to the pure idea behind them. 89 that is. After that they did what everyone else did and went from proformence to looks and sales. (fair do's its more money for the companys) The 89 fzr is a light bike in comparison to the other fizzers and every one is bias to there personal preference. Personally trying to find a gsxr250
@fergus1494 are you taking the piss? Not only are the prices you quoted way out of proportion to what they actually sell for. The busa is certainly not the fastest bike ever released. *sigh

yep,u cant beat cbrs why oh why wont they bang a few more updated ones out,250s 400s,ideal for the dodgy british roads...please honda can we have some more?
@03vyCLUB Offroad versions such as the two-stroke CRs, need to be rebuilt every season mainly because of their high power output and constant abuse. However, road versions are less highly strung so last much longer. Four-stroke CRFs will last longer than the two-stroke CRs, but are not as powerful, but easier to ride due to the better spread torque curve.
@sneaker91 i like it that way means while all the cbr250rrs are gettin thrashed i can pick me up a clean well maintained low km zxr250 for cheap AND have a better bike :)
@somerandomaussie off topic but i got a chance to ride a new ninja 250 09 model. I was so happy when i got off that thing. No where thru the rev range does it have anything on my bike.
I have a 89 zxr250A with 50k on the clock and i'm pretty sure its been around once already.
CBR250RR i have ridden with 70k on clock and can only say that it is an easier bike to turn in than a zxr. I wanted a cbr250rr being a HONDA fan but am not disappointed in my lil kawa not in the least :)
cbr250rr = one of the legends of the golden age of 250cc sportbikes, before increased power output restrictions came into force in 94. The cbr250rr put out 45hp whereas 250cc sport bikes today like the Ninja put out around 30hp. That's a tremendous 33% power reduction thanks to political meddling.
@grannman Political meddling? It's simply because the demand isn't there. People would rather buy a 600 or a 1000 than a race oriented 250. They make less power now because they're all thumpers or twins instead of il4s with ridiculous redlines.
That said, I would have bought one instead of the 600 I did get if they were available. They look really fun to ride without having the insane power of the larger sportbikes that can get you into trouble
@cunnelatio Yes, the power reduction in 1994 was absolutely a result of political meddling, and the threat of it in international markets. Here learner licensed motorcyclists are restricted to 250cc for 6 months. Same goes for numerous other countries. Honda didn't randomly decide in 1994 that they'd go to the extra trouble of altering components to restrict the cbr250 motor output for nothing. The move was completely unrelated to the market which always demanded greater power.
@grannman Where do you live? Here in the US you can get your license and immediately buy a turbocharged hayabusa, which probably isn't the best system.
The 250rr was always pretty rare here, probably due to the lack of restrictions
@cunnelatio I'm in New Zealand. Since we have a public health system the government probably stresses about newbie motorcyclists costing the taxpayer if they get too much power and end up in hospital. Personally I'm a fan of the US system - personal responsibility and you pay for your mistakes yourself. Here the government basically has compulsory insurance when you renew motorbike registration. You have to pay hefty levies. So essentially good riders are paying for bad riders medical bills
@grannman i live in canada (quebec) and it's the same as you and more we have the no-fault system who means we can't sue one who crush us with intention and if i try to kill someone with my vehicule and i get hurt i will get some cash because i was hurted.
fuck man my bike needs 3,6 seconds !!! but ......for an 250....eeeeeeeewwwwwww 5.2 i think thats fast but the sound man....i defenetly love this fuking sound
And to all those comments about fuckign the clutch, yeah, you're right. But this guy launched the bike expertly.
The peak power in the rev range is between 14,500 rpm and 16,900 rpm. He rode the clutch so masterfully that he actually had the clutch fully out right smack in the powerband thus giving the best launch possible.
@drewhastheinternet its a single cylinder. im not sure where you heard 4 from... 600s and up are 4 cylinders. maybe some 500s have 4 but i doubt it.anyways, the cbr 250 is a single cylinder, 4 stroke. and this vid is in kph, so this is 0-60 mph in 5.2 or whatever the guy said.
@guitarkidlespaul I personally wouldnt recommend getting a cbr, due to the fact of being one of the most well known learner bikes the prices are that of a hybusa for a guttless bike make bike in early 90's.. some of them are selling for 8k whereas the bikes true value if we didnt have lams would be more like 1-3k. if you really want one get the 89 cbr250r not the rr, as the r is a thousand times better and cost around half the price.. it just doesnt look fancy. also consider fzr250 89-94 zxr 91+
@gatykeAD and all the 250 4's are thrashed.. i guess you can thrash them when there not stupidly fast.. and you would be going to find one that hasnt been dropped.. even if your told it hasnt chances are its been repaired lol.. its called lams.. and thats why the rvf and vfr basicly the same bike have a price difference of a few k
@gatykeAD Some bikes just lose their value faster, it's not the bikes' fault. It's because much fewer CBR250's are produced and they hold their value better because of that.
@lukeandjoshua soz just being the number police lol, no hard feelings, I'm getting a 2 stroker myself RGV250r rather than the cbr which i planned to get at first, do you have a bike??
@poo123head 2 strokers have much better specs, aprilia suzuku etc, fastest 250 around would be the 1997 RGV 250r which i'm hoping will be my next bike.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
here lets count the shifting gear 2nd starts at 3 seconds 3rd starts at 5 seconds and 4th starts at 8 seconds. now using common logic and first grade math that's 4 gears equaling a four stroke.
This has been flagged as spam show

cbr250rr = one of the legends of the golden age of 250cc sportbikes, before increased power output restrictions came into force in 94. The cbr250rr put out 45hp whereas 250cc sport bikes today like the Ninja put out around 30hp. That's a tremendous 33% power reduction thanks to political meddling.
grannman 1 year ago
@grannman Political meddling? It's simply because the demand isn't there. People would rather buy a 600 or a 1000 than a race oriented 250. They make less power now because they're all thumpers or twins instead of il4s with ridiculous redlines.
That said, I would have bought one instead of the 600 I did get if they were available. They look really fun to ride without having the insane power of the larger sportbikes that can get you into trouble
cunnelatio 1 year ago
@cunnelatio Yes, the power reduction in 1994 was absolutely a result of political meddling, and the threat of it in international markets. Here learner licensed motorcyclists are restricted to 250cc for 6 months. Same goes for numerous other countries. Honda didn't randomly decide in 1994 that they'd go to the extra trouble of altering components to restrict the cbr250 motor output for nothing. The move was completely unrelated to the market which always demanded greater power.
grannman 1 year ago
@grannman Where do you live? Here in the US you can get your license and immediately buy a turbocharged hayabusa, which probably isn't the best system.
The 250rr was always pretty rare here, probably due to the lack of restrictions
cunnelatio 1 year ago
@cunnelatio I'm in New Zealand. Since we have a public health system the government probably stresses about newbie motorcyclists costing the taxpayer if they get too much power and end up in hospital. Personally I'm a fan of the US system - personal responsibility and you pay for your mistakes yourself. Here the government basically has compulsory insurance when you renew motorbike registration. You have to pay hefty levies. So essentially good riders are paying for bad riders medical bills
grannman 1 year ago

Want some clutch with that?

Thats an amazing little engine. And 4 cylinders only 250cc???!!!!!!!
drewhastheinternet 1 year ago 13
@drewhastheinternet V4 actually :)
Yurrah 6 months ago
@drewhastheinternet its a single cylinder. im not sure where you heard 4 from... 600s and up are 4 cylinders. maybe some 500s have 4 but i doubt it.anyways, the cbr 250 is a single cylinder, 4 stroke. and this vid is in kph, so this is 0-60 mph in 5.2 or whatever the guy said.
MrMechill 6 months ago
@MrMechill
CBR250RR, FZR250, GSX-R250 and ZXR250 from the early 90s were all four cylinder 250s.
i've got an FZR, i change the spark plugs myself

@ylism
haha for sure
Iunio92 5 months ago
@MrMechill Not true.
THIS CBR 250 RR WAS indeed a 4 Cylinder 4 Stroke. It is a Race Replica hence RR.
it has 4 very small and light pistons, with a shorter bore, that is how it can rev so high.
Quads and other bikes like that have a long bore for torque and short range acceleration on rough terrain.
This engine has a short stroke on the bore so it revs WAY higher.
Research this, and it will prove my words correct. Not to contradict you, just so the information you pass on to others is correct=)
1980aankrah 5 months ago 11
@1980aankrah not bore, stroke. how can you have a shorter bore!!

hey, great sound what year is this? Also I'm thinking about buying one do you recommend?
guitarkidlespaul 1 year ago
@guitarkidlespaul I personally wouldnt recommend getting a cbr, due to the fact of being one of the most well known learner bikes the prices are that of a hybusa for a guttless bike make bike in early 90's.. some of them are selling for 8k whereas the bikes true value if we didnt have lams would be more like 1-3k. if you really want one get the 89 cbr250r not the rr, as the r is a thousand times better and cost around half the price.. it just doesnt look fancy. also consider fzr250 89-94 zxr 91+
fergus1494 1 year ago
@fergus1494 i agree cbr250rr are patheticle overpriced same price as a 0 year old 250 u can get a 2000 cbr600f4 its stupid.

@gatykeAD go eat pooh ya big ol nerd bucket !
theblackyobo 1 year ago
@gatykeAD and all the 250 4's are thrashed.. i guess you can thrash them when there not stupidly fast.. and you would be going to find one that hasnt been dropped.. even if your told it hasnt chances are its been repaired lol.. its called lams.. and thats why the rvf and vfr basicly the same bike have a price difference of a few k
fergus1494 1 year ago
@gatykeAD Some bikes just lose their value faster, it's not the bikes' fault. It's because much fewer CBR250's are produced and they hold their value better because of that.

4 Cylinders on a 250cc?? The pistons would be so light and tiny!!
Then my Brain management system kicked in
err.. YEAH!! How else would 20,000RPM BE POSSIBLE!!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
here lets count the shifting gear 2nd starts at 3 seconds 3rd starts at 5 seconds and 4th starts at 8 seconds. now using common logic and first grade math that's 4 gears equaling a four stroke.
ozzyfan117 1 year ago
@ozzyfan117 are you serious... the term 4 stroke doesn't refer to the gearbox, it's talking about the type of engine in the bike.
