My biggest gripe with the game is the questing. Every single quest literally boils down to a fetch quest. Even the elaborate multi part story quests (which can last hours and hours) boil down to go here get this come back. And once you hit mid game you are literally just getting items to progress the story whether it be crystal disks, skulls, golden busts or armour pieces...it just gets a bit tiresome near the end. Replay value is high since game changing decisions are made early on.

Every time you stepped out into the wild you were in constant danger of dying making the world feel large, expansive and dangerous. On many occasions i ventured deeper into the island to explore for new loot, treasures and herbs to brew potions and every time was thrilling since i could bump into a ghoul, ogre or ashbeast...all 3 of which are very powerful early and even mid game.
The difficulty curve is steep which flattens considerably when you get towards the end of the game, which is unfortunate especially when expectations of epic fights sadly turn into lacklustre encounters.
Also the item upgrades are another oddity. The pacing of weapon progression was fine at the start, but towards the end I was with around 4-5 good weapons unused.
For fans there is alot in this. But the average score is justified given its pacing and disappointing conclusion.

I actually didn't like fable 3, the story mode was really short, there was basically no variety as far as clothes and weapons go, and the story wasn't even that interesting.

Graphics don't make a game. Fable 1 was amazing. Fable 2 and 3 are trying to reach the high bar the first one set but fell far short of it despite the graphics upgrades.

Fallout 3? It's not really all that actiony in the first place when you just simply pause the game and shoot at other things in a sort of turn based style. Why is magic a totally joke in this game? To learn magic you need to fight your way to the magic school so youre using your starting exp points on fighting. And when you learn magic you realize that you have to manually aim your magicspells and you dont regain any mana... And starting with magic at lvl 10 or higher, you do 0 damage. What is this crap?

i agree too! i love fallout3 and new vegas, i i love gothic series, all, only the 4 one, is to diferent os the 3 first, but its a good game too.
risen is by far bther than gothic 3 and 4, its the same line of history and game play of gothic 1 and 2, i love it, and i will not stop plaing.

Graphics don't make a game. Fable 1 was amazing. Fable 2 and 3 are trying to reach the high bar the first one set but fell far short of it despite the graphics upgrades.

Well, I gotta agree on 1 thing with this guy - the 360 version is horrible. I've beaten the game twice on the PC and later tried it on the 360 at a friends house - maybe I was spoiled from playing on the PC, but the 360 version was BAD, just BAD!

How come ? Both are RPG .The thing is that in Risen you can only play 3rd person while in Fallout 3 ,you can play eather 1st person or 3rd person.
This game is played in a medieval era ,while fallout 3 is played ??after?? a post nuclear war .Not sure exactly.
Anyway ,i played both games ,and i personally like more this graphic than that ugly ,MUDDY (now that's a muddy place ,not this one) graphic that fallout 3 has.
This game is the best in my opinion

Fallout 3? It's not really all that actiony in the first place when you just simply pause the game and shoot at other things in a sort of turn based style. I see action RPGS as a continuous flow of action from one scene to the next. It's my opinion, Fallout doesn't really have that and I have trouble seeing it as a ARPG.

Why is magic a totally joke in this game? To learn magic you need to fight your way to the magic school so youre using your starting exp points on fighting. And when you learn magic you realize that you have to manually aim your magicspells and you dont regain any mana... And starting with magic at lvl 10 or higher, you do 0 damage. What is this crap?

To all the people saying he only said negative things, learn to listen. He said just as many positive things as he did negative things, and specifically stated that the game is probably better on the PC.
Look if a game is mediocre, than it's mediocre. Go ahead, watch the video again, count the positive remarks vs the negative remarks, you'll find the numbers aren't too far apart.
People just need to learn to listen.

You should be worried about 1/3rd of your ratings being thumbs down and consider how you review games and how long you play them before you review them and also a bit more research as well.
There was a time when games were only reviewed after they were finished, even cRPG's. Now, in the rush to get reviews out we see a much lower quality of reviews as reviewers play less and less of a game before giving their opinion.
