im 16 and when i was 6 or 7 i had just watched halloween for the first time ever and after that i went trick or treating with my brother and he told me to look at the ghost on a porch i looked and it was a life-sized manican of michael myers i yelled at the top of my lungs and ran as fast as i could into my cousin who was dressed as the shape with the knife and everything glaring at me (i didnt know it though until he took off the mask) my brother caught me and told me it was a halloween prank

Scary isn't when some one bursts in blood and guts or some one being cut in half. Thats horror. Scary is when you feel the movie the tense and suspenseful moments when your on the edge of your seat. Micheal myers does just that seeing his shadowy body next to Laurie's car when shes in class. Or when shes walking back home and Micheal is stalking her. One thing i love the palm tree at her house.

the last scene of Michael and Laurie hugging is b/c of Carpenter's idea for the original movie's purpose. the original was supposed to be about love and sex. Laurie was a virgin with no bf her need for sex summoned Michael back home. He wants to be her lover but he cant b/c he's insane. Carpenter made the whole brother/sister angle b/c the first movie was so successful that they just had to make a franchise. I think the 1st idea of sexual frustration was a LOT cooler

Yes, the second movie went the brother/sister angle because Carpenter had no idea what else to do with it, but the first movie was simply a horror movie about babysitters being stalked by a maniac who's returned to his hometown. There was no intended sexuality and/or summoning angle to the movie when it was first written and filmed.

@Jonnn79 Its in an interview that Carpenter gave which was reprinted in a book called "Cult Movies" by Danny Peary. I think it makes sense b/c why else would they have this pic of Michael hugging Laurie if that wasn't Carpenter's motive? Carpenter also explained some of the scenes that elude to this idea such as when Michael drops the knife right by Laurie in the closet and how Michael puts his mask back on when Laurie pulls it off which denotes that Michael is just "playing" with Laurie

This is one of the best slasher films I've ever seen! I love it cause you NEVER know when Michael's gonna pop out and kill someone. Like when one of Laurie's friends is in her car and can't find her keys and it's the pitch black outside with just silhouetes. Then it's like "Where're my keys?...Hmm." *DRRRRRNNNNN* and Michael just springs out of the back seat and either chokes her to death or slits her throat and you can barely see it through the window of the car from the outside.

well don't you notice that.. no matter how fast Michael's victims run, he always finds them. Being fast has nothing to do with it really.. even if Laurie Strode went to the moon, Michael would still find her. It is apparent in Halloween 4 & 5 that Michael has a kind of telepathic ability between Jamie, so I think that being fast has nothing to do with it.. & plus, I think the fact he doesn't run makes him more frightening.

Michael Myers is much better than Jason. As a younger kid I really liked Freddy and The Tall Man but Michael Myers, at least in the original Halloween, is the coolest. Halloween really is a great horror movie. Never gets old or boring. John Carpenter is one of my top 3 favorite directors hands down. this movie has great pacing, music, look, tone, great camera work. however, my favorite Carpenter film is still Assault on Precinct 13, but this is second.
