Don't get me wrong, I respect games that prioritize stealth over combat. I just hate the ones that MANDATE stealth by FORBIDDING combat.

At least in Penumbra (of which Amnesia is a spiritual sequel) you could throw rocks at your enemies. This game practically has you playing in a straightjacket.

As a general rule of thumb, your playable character should never be a bigger wimp than the person playing the game. Like I said, it's one thing to have enemies that you can't engage in combat and hope to defeat, but omitting combat from the game completely is just being lazy.

Games with sanity effects piss me off too. Good horror games can scare the player without them. A monster with sanity effects might as well just have a big red label "This is scary!" on it.
