However, MOST structural engineers are afraid to try anything that involves thinking out of the box, or the AISC manual for that matter. If they do, they whine about having to design multiple moment connections, braced frames, statically indeterminate members, or other atypical structural connections. Not to mention, their solutions usually have double the amount of steel and concrete actually needed.

@MrDpahls1 Sometimes it feels like the architects are drawing upside-down pyramid, and engineers whine, and say it needs to be the other way around. Arch, don't draw the real nuts and bolts of the building, and that is how it works, buildings are composted of soooo many parts, that must fit together, and be engineered to withstand so many different ranges of forces. Arc. can't think of all of these things when they are coming up with a cool design, it would be impossible. Div. of labor = good
