How dumb is this bloke? Calls himself a journalist investigating some alleged conspiracy. Rocks up uninvited to an awards ceremony on private property with a couple of first year media students, then when he's refused entry (surprise, surprise) instead of going away to carry on his 'investigation' constructively he just hangs around making a pest of himself giving a whole lot of stupid, smart-alecky comments. The only scoop here is that John Ziegler is a fucking drongo.
This is pretty funny. Watch media malpractice. I wish he was allowed in because Couric is a viscious bitch. She's great at asking questions that result in edited airing.
Oh come on, he should have listened when they told him he needed to stay behind the barricade. I don't like Katie Couric, but Ziegler was clearly trespassing.
Wowee! John Ziegler is quite a professional. He stays on subject and asks mature intelligent questions and treats everyone with such respect! What a stand up asshole!
Wow- political opinions aside, this guy is an imbecile. He thinks they are going to let any no talent hack with a camera guy and a microphone into the awards ceremony? Yeah, maybe they only take up "5 ft of space"- but to be fair, if they make the exception for them they have to make it for every no talent hack who shows up. So soon "5 ft of space" becomes 20 ft, and that becomes 100 ft and so on. People need to get a life and try not to create problems where there arent any.
Hmm. I wonder if John put up a stink about McCain and Palin political speeches that were restricted to anyone hostile to their whacko conservative viewpoints?
Yes it's private but it is also controlled by who and what media they want in that will only support Obama supporters. It is a true fact that this administration has controlled the media because they wanted Obama to win. Well get ready those who voted a President in who wants to change America to total Government control. You wanted it, you got it.
And George W Bush didn't control the populace? His people regularly screened anyone attending his speeches who was critical toward Bush. Also, the control placed on the press with respect to the war in Iraq was total. Unlike the Vietnam War, there was/is no freedom of the press in Iraq.
So government control? Where were you during the Bush years? I'm guessing you didn't say a goddamned fucking thing.
Just so you will know where I was during the Bush administration. My son joined the Army after 9-11 so I was supporting while at war. Then he was shot in the head in 2004 while he was a gunner on an unarmed humvee, laid in the streets of Fallujah for 25 min. Medics went to pick him up and found that he was alive. 5 hrs brain surgery removing 30% of his frontal lobe. He is alive today and I supported him and hundreds of other families who have suffered greatly thru this war with TBI and PTSD
What happened to your son never should have happened. The entire war is a travesty and a mockery. The complete manipulation of the supposed evidence for going to war was a crime of the highest order.
With respect to the topic of this video:
The Bush administration was just as, if not far more, controlling of the press as the perceived control on view in this video.
Ziegler is not a journalist, he's about as objective as Michael Moore.
What a surprise that a jerk with a camera, a stated desire to originally protest ,and a rabid hate for the media is asked to leave an invitation-only, private media event on private property. Get a grip.
Each time I watch Ziegler he seems more and more irrational, pathologically so.
We'll try this again, he has railed against Couric for years, produced a documentary denouncing Couric, announced that he would protest Couric's award ceremony, then shows up and says hes not going to protest, hes just making a documentary and distributing copies of his previous documentary denouncing Couric at an invitation only Couric awards ceremony.
If you get what he's saying, you're not objectively looking at the whole picture.
Try what again? I read your crap the first time. His point was, if it's covered by the Media, then he should be allowed in. Couric and him arn't friends, to say the least. However, having a "media covered" cerimony, without most of the media allowed in, is ridiculous. The reason behind her cerimony, is ridiculous. A media covered/invitation only cerimony is an oxymoron.
Stop your whining.....it's a private awards ceremony.
It's embarrassingly obvious that he went there to film himself getting arrested.......Jerry Springer journalism at it's best.
As for his Palin comment, STOP whining. If a vice presidential candidate can't handle themself in an interview then they probably shouldn't be running for high office.
Not only is Ziegler a class A whiner, he's sexist -- no one would have blinked an eye at Couric's "attack" had Palin been a man.

Why does it matter that the winner can invite someone? The problem with having a limited number of reporters covering something is the opinion gets skewed thats the point of free media, but who cares about this being covered by some people who agree with eachother. Is John afraid that something is being covered up? Idiot. It was invite only. Lets see him try that at the correspondence dinner. Thats if Palin will allow him to get out of her bed.
I see this guy doing a public service! The awards aren't secret; in fact, Couiric and her network will brag and publicize the award to establish cred on journalistic excellence and clearly have other media in. I see a benefit to the public to hear non-biased points of view or different viewsand allow this reporter to cover an event abou the media congratulating itself. They only allowed friendly coverage and this guy is trying so actually ask questions. And, is about the election!,
No, he can't get in there because the media powers only want friendly coverage! This place probably gets federal money of somekind and are bound to respect the first amendment. This reporter should be allowed to ask questions as annoying as they may be. I mean we know how annoying reporters can be, but apparently when they celebrate themselves at a UNIVERSITY to shine more credeiblity on themselves, god forbid someone asks different or tough questions.
Geez, edit much? How long was he out there? What a whinny douche bag. They told him he couldn't cover the event. It's an issue because he stood out there for an hour protesting (crying) that he can't cover the award ceremony, and instead of leaving on his own accord, they had to escort him out. John even noticed that "there's not a long line of other media waiting to get in [there]." If that doesn't tell you that it's a private event (invitation only) I don't know what does.
Funny. The problem is that all those guys are too politically-correct to admit that the reason they are not letting John in is because they're afraid he's going to make a mess of a perfectly orderly ceremony they had prepared and were planning on having. Nice play on political correctness (one of your pet peeves since the Philly days or even before, I believe), John! -tcandkit
Oh, this was the award for Excellence in TELEVISION Political Journalism, and your upset because you are a self proclaimed journalist and they wouldn't allow you in. Well then John I guess all you had to do was inform them of what TELEVISION station you are affiliated with... Opps, I just made a stinker didn't I? Oh, I hope I didn't hit to soft a spot. Maybe you should go to alaska and cry on Palins shoulder you rejected hack.
Good thing he was arrested. He'd have had no story. He didn't have one when he went. He was happy to be arrested. Tasering him would have been a bonus. Better luck next time, Ziegler.
Liberal are all for freedom of speech until someone says, or in this case asks, something that they do not want to hear. USC School of Journalism... what a joke.
Have you ever heard of private property? How about invitation only?
This isn't about free-speech, it's about a dude, needing attention. This guy has been on reality dating shows, and he's found his sugar-mamma. Anything he can do to get paid, is what he's going to do.
I'm for free-speech, and I've faught for your right to it, but Private property, has no free speech.
So now a state university is the same as someones backyard? Sorry but a state university is a public place. Most universities welcome visitor/non-students onto their campus. So when this one guy is kicked off just standing there and politely asking questions (which is what journalism should be about) then something is not right. If he were shouting things or causing riots or the like that would be one thing. But he was not.
It is about free speech and I think you know that.
Does the manager at a state-run building have the right to ask someone to leave? More so, when that person, is only there to disrupt and bother the people invited to attend? Of course. I can't just walk into the Governor's office. You can't push your way past capitol guard's in D.C., can you?
He asked about getting invited, and was turned down. He was asked to leave, and didn't. He's lucky I wasn't there, he would have had worse troubles.
BTW, I'm an independent. I hold views on both sides of center. Some views, are farther right than yours. Does that mean you are a liberal? I'm willing to bet, that your views are all on the right side of center. Now who sounds like they follow their ideology first.
Guess what? I am an Independent as well... I am pro-life outside of rape, incest and under certain extraordinary circumstances. I am against the death penalty and for legalization of certain drugs... how about that?
USC isn't a state run school. It's a private school. So, he was on private property and they had the right to let whoever they wanted into the building. He clearly just wanted attention and was being argumentative and creating a problem.
Ask yourself if USC would have done the same thing if the reporter were questioning the giving of an award to some conservative (Rush, Hannity, etc.). The honest answer is HELL ON! They would have put up with Michael Moore pushing his way into the awards ceremony running onto the stage and throwing a pie at Rush. When a "Journalism" school is that unfair it becomes pretty clear why so many of the "journalists" they produce are biased.
Maybe there is some hypocrisy in not letting this guy on campus, but USC is a private school, there is no lawsuit here and no abrogation of free speech "rights" by the school, because there was no "right" to free speech.
What truth? The fact that Palin, can't answer a question? Palin is a reporters wet-dream, ask her what day it is, and she'll answer Satuesday. She is dumber than a stump. The fact that she is hot(got pregnant at 17), and she's pro-life, is all she has. For fucks sake, she couldn't name a newspaer she reads. Fuck, all she had to do was make one up. Hell she's a politician.
She couldn't name a newspaper or she didn't name a newspaper? I think if you calmly think about it you will realize that Gov. Palin is not as dumb as you are saying she is. She ran a business, was mayor and Governor, all things that Obama, Palosky and Reid have never done.
Any newspaper she named would have gotten her into trouble. A local newspaper would not have been good enough and larger papers would open her to follow up questions of who is the editor, name your favorite column etc.
Are you saying, that she wouldn't answer, because she was afraid to tell the truth? Or that she's calculating her answers? Either way, I don't want a politician, to tell me what they think I want to hear, I want the truth.
I think that you give her too much credit, for not answering. I think, if she ahs to think that much, she's better off as Alaska's Gov.
BTW, isn't she Pro-life, it seems that she doesn't have a problem taking sides in a debate. I'm pretty sure she's just a dumbass.
Are you 12? I was pointing out, that she isn't afraid to piss a few people off. But yes, wanting to control another persons vagina, is being a dumbass.
Are you obsessed with other peoples vaginas? Is that what this is about?
I don't want a person in the whitehouse, that believes the earth is 6,000 years old, That SHE should get to decide what another woman can or cannot do with their own body parts, and isn't sure whether Africa is a continent or country.
Soory, I just want at least a 3rd grade education in the people that run for Pres.
Obviously you are the one obsessed with abortion.. because you brought it up as the single reason you think someone with a view opposite of yours is a dumbass. Oh my ... a female that is pro life ... oh my!
Where the fuck did I say, that because she is pro-life, that she's a dumbass? I said she's a dumbass, because she couldn't name a newspaper she reads, and thinks Africa is a country.
I am a Male, I will never have an abortion, ot's not my choice that Im fighting for.
Sue the school And security officers separately. The officers will not have any legal shield to protect them.Diversity of opinion? As an officer in the security field, these guys are toast legally.
What are you, a mall cop? USC, has the right to ask ANYONE, to leave for ANY reason. They don't need permission to ask someone to leave their property. He was asked nicely, and refused. At that point, they could call the cops, and have him arrested for tresspassing. How would you like it if I came over to your house, and asked people why your such a dumbass? It's your house, I have no right to be there.
Ziegler did cross over the line a few times and seemed more focused on being a nuisance than a legitimate journalist. Now that he has his 15 minutes of fame he may have less trouble being invited to these events. I'm surprised they didn't Tazer him!
The death of journalism has apparently found a home at USC. Let's try to imagine what Walter Cronkite would say about all this. I'm sure he would not "laugh-out-loud" at the thought of Couric being singled out for excellence in journalism. Somehow, I have a harder time seeing him praising this choice. This is truly a sad day for USC's School of Jounalism. Did Wolf Blitzer get an honorable mention for dishing out trashy youtube videos about Palin?
All you have to do is boycott Katies sponsors or any other media news sponsors. Call, Email the advertisers and tell them as long as there is media bias you and your family won't buy any of their products. It worked for Rev. Jackson I can work for the people of this country. We want the truth about our goverment in the media.... Pass it on in all your comments.
Many are doing that and I agree. But boycotts take time, because they're not promoted by the media. I boycott Fox sponsors as they inappropriately organize protests. I really don't like Katie Couric (never watch her) but the only thing Ziegler did, by demanding to be let in to what was just a bunch of folks giving each other awards, was to give them coverage and so more advertising bucks. Ironically, Ziegler is not powerless. He's a talk show host-Shuts down 9967s controlled media theory.
So what if he is mentally ill, are you judging people with mental illness? Do you think he should be locked up in an institution that we pay for with taxes or would you rather have him out making a living. I hope "Buffy" drops you as a friend because you are not a friend if you can say things like that about a person.
Did I say that he should be locked up? why don't you stfu? I made a simple comment and you are turning it into a major controversey. The guy is mentally unstable and he needs treatment and his family knows this. So KMA!
Awfully defensive for someone who made a "simple" comment. Maybe you need medication so you won't have diarrhea of the mouth in the future. I hope Ziegler and his sister see your ridiculous comments and call you out on them, too. Some of our most famous artists, creators, philanthropists, etc. had a mental illness or drug and/or alcohol abuse issues. So why don't you STFU and stop dissing people who may or may not have a mental illness.
Since when is a publicly funded college considered private property. Isn't this the University of SC? Universities are funded with taxes, therefore, he has every right to be on that campus.
Rumford Reporter - Private event. They are not making public policy and so they reserve the right to make it invitation only. This guy made his intentions as clear. He is using his press card like a weapon. Arguing with him is like hollering at a barking dog.
My bad. But, I still feel that because he was outside and not interfering with the event itself, he has a right to be there. It's not like it is someone's home.
Also, Katie Couric did not deserve an award for her coverage of Sarah Palin. She used Gotcha techniques to belittle a Republican Conservative woman who has her right to her beliefs as well. Katie Couric should have been fired.
Katie Couric should have been fired for her coverage of Sarah Palin, not given an award. John Ziegler has the balls to call out the liberal bias media and for that he has my respect.
So much for unbaised news. So must for RIGHTS. The only news we get is the news THEY want us to get. But, why would I expect any different in a forced system? Welcome to communism. Hang onto your guns folks.
ang9967 - Hanging on to your guns is an inflammatory statement. Revolution will come from the right fighting with each other. This event had nothing to do with public policy. So they are free to select their own guests. It's a non-story and John is just pissed because he wasn't invited. He is so far from "being invited by a winner" that his only option is to be a spoiler.
LOL! How can you say that? This doesn't affect the public? Yes, they're free to select their own guests, but free to select only those who share their views and this is what is sold to the public? One sided journalism? These people are running this country! They need to been scrutinized from all angles. No, hanging onto guns is the ONLY thing that is keeping us from having in your face communism, now. It's not hard to tell, they're tired of the formalities.
Sheesh! OK, 9967 (1) 1- sided journalism was born under Reagan when he axed the fairness doctrine. Thus FOX was born & now sponsors protests & shutsout opposing views.-Google 'Teabagging' (2)Who is THEY? If you mean journalists-examine all of them, starting with the ones who pick the fights (3) You say communism when you mean despotism--We had that in the last Admin. Look where we are! We should solve problems together, not shoot each other! THEY isn't tv figures-It's people-You too!
Are u kidding? Either ur a troll or sadly misinformed! Which 1? No, I mean communism. Were past despotism. We have had communism for past 80 years. The first rule of communism is u can never own anything. What do u own the state cannot take? u can't do anything without gov intervention! ie, taxes, fine, fee, permit, license, or extortion! We have priviliges not rights. All wrapped up in a flag. All media is controlled! The only thing that's standing between us and in ur face communism is guns.
9967-Please! The 'steer or a qeer' question doesnt fly. This is Youtube, not the Weekly Standard. Not the wild west either-the 'Yosemite Sam' act is sophomoric. You bought into Hannity style half truths; & want to take it to the streets-which, without the licenses you hate, will be filled with gun toting unlicensed drunks. I'll go with words and ballots over your firesticks & anarchy. i know my posts are like shouting at a barking dog so I'll relinquish the floor. Keep your gunpowder dry, bro!
Casual!! Your double speak is quite amusing. How much they paying you? I don't buy into any controlled media. Everyone knows it's controlled! U may be getting paid, but ur still a slave like the rest of us. Anarchists want peace. They love peace, it's the end result. Your so funny, do you think they catch all the drunks leaving the bar? same with all laws bro. Too many of us to catch all, that's why it's about extortion. U already live in Anarchy! You just believe the lie which hides the truth.
John I hope you sue these Nazis... cuz this is where we are headed, Nazi Germany. These folks in the 'press' want total control of the message. And they will hurt anyone trying to show the truth.

Liberal are all for freedom of speech until someone says, or in this case asks, something that they do not want to hear. USC School of Journalism... what a joke.
HappyLummox 2 years ago
Shut up! GOOD
Have you ever heard of private property? How about invitation only?
This isn't about free-speech, it's about a dude, needing attention. This guy has been on reality dating shows, and he's found his sugar-mamma. Anything he can do to get paid, is what he's going to do.
I'm for free-speech, and I've faught for your right to it, but Private property, has no free speech.
Sell that crap to someone that doesn't read.

HappyLummox 2 years ago
Does the manager at a state-run building have the right to ask someone to leave? More so, when that person, is only there to disrupt and bother the people invited to attend? Of course. I can't just walk into the Governor's office. You can't push your way past capitol guard's in D.C., can you?
He asked about getting invited, and was turned down. He was asked to leave, and didn't. He's lucky I wasn't there, he would have had worse troubles.

How did I distort the 1st amend?
BTW, I'm an independent. I hold views on both sides of center. Some views, are farther right than yours. Does that mean you are a liberal? I'm willing to bet, that your views are all on the right side of center. Now who sounds like they follow their ideology first.
GODSoneandonlySON 2 years ago

brabon1 2 years ago
Ask yourself if USC would have done the same thing if the reporter were questioning the giving of an award to some conservative (Rush, Hannity, etc.). The honest answer is HELL ON! They would have put up with Michael Moore pushing his way into the awards ceremony running onto the stage and throwing a pie at Rush. When a "Journalism" school is that unfair it becomes pretty clear why so many of the "journalists" they produce are biased.
HappyLummox 2 years ago
hey asshat,
usc is the most conservative campus in southern cal
none of the other real journalists were breaking the rules
ziegler only did this to gain publicity....for he is a whore
and you bring up an absurd hypothetical...like all wingnuts do when they lose an argument

GODSoneandonlySON 2 years ago
She couldn't name a newspaper or she didn't name a newspaper? I think if you calmly think about it you will realize that Gov. Palin is not as dumb as you are saying she is. She ran a business, was mayor and Governor, all things that Obama, Palosky and Reid have never done.
Any newspaper she named would have gotten her into trouble. A local newspaper would not have been good enough and larger papers would open her to follow up questions of who is the editor, name your favorite column etc.
HappyLummox 2 years ago
Are you saying, that she wouldn't answer, because she was afraid to tell the truth? Or that she's calculating her answers? Either way, I don't want a politician, to tell me what they think I want to hear, I want the truth.
I think that you give her too much credit, for not answering. I think, if she ahs to think that much, she's better off as Alaska's Gov.
BTW, isn't she Pro-life, it seems that she doesn't have a problem taking sides in a debate. I'm pretty sure she's just a dumbass.

We want the truth about our goverment in the media.... Pass it on in all your comments.
wpokets 2 years ago
Many are doing that and I agree. But boycotts take time, because they're not promoted by the media. I boycott Fox sponsors as they inappropriately organize protests. I really don't like Katie Couric (never watch her) but the only thing Ziegler did, by demanding to be let in to what was just a bunch of folks giving each other awards, was to give them coverage and so more advertising bucks. Ironically, Ziegler is not powerless. He's a talk show host-Shuts down 9967s controlled media theory.

I know John's sister Buffy. I have met John several times. He is mentally ill and apparently his illness is getting worse. He needs treatment.
cosmicgirl1234567 2 years ago
So what if he is mentally ill, are you judging people with mental illness? Do you think he should be locked up in an institution that we pay for with taxes or would you rather have him out making a living. I hope "Buffy" drops you as a friend because you are not a friend if you can say things like that about a person.
therumfordreporter 2 years ago
Did I say that he should be locked up? why don't you stfu? I made a simple comment and you are turning it into a major controversey. The guy is mentally unstable and he needs treatment and his family knows this. So KMA!
cosmicgirl1234567 2 years ago
Awfully defensive for someone who made a "simple" comment. Maybe you need medication so you won't have diarrhea of the mouth in the future. I hope Ziegler and his sister see your ridiculous comments and call you out on them, too. Some of our most famous artists, creators, philanthropists, etc. had a mental illness or drug and/or alcohol abuse issues. So why don't you STFU and stop dissing people who may or may not have a mental illness.

@therumfordreporter: USC (The University of Southern California) is a private college. It is not publicly funded.
USC is also considered one of the most conservative campuses in the entire nation.

Rumford Reporter - Private event. They are not making public policy and so they reserve the right to make it invitation only. This guy made his intentions as clear. He is using his press card like a weapon. Arguing with him is like hollering at a barking dog.
casualobserver51 2 years ago

Hang onto your guns folks.
ang9967 2 years ago 2
ang9967 - Hanging on to your guns is an inflammatory statement. Revolution will come from the right fighting with each other. This event had nothing to do with public policy. So they are free to select their own guests. It's a non-story and John is just pissed because he wasn't invited. He is so far from "being invited by a winner" that his only option is to be a spoiler.
casualobserver51 2 years ago
It's not hard to tell, they're tired of the formalities.
ang9967 2 years ago
Peace.
casualobserver51 2 years ago
Are u kidding? Either ur a troll or sadly misinformed! Which 1? No, I mean communism. Were past despotism. We have had communism for past 80 years. The first rule of communism is u can never own anything. What do u own the state cannot take? u can't do anything without gov intervention! ie, taxes, fine, fee, permit, license, or extortion! We have priviliges not rights. All wrapped up in a flag. All media is controlled! The only thing that's standing between us and in ur face communism is guns.
ang9967 2 years ago
9967-Please! The 'steer or a qeer' question doesnt fly. This is Youtube, not the Weekly Standard. Not the wild west either-the 'Yosemite Sam' act is sophomoric. You bought into Hannity style half truths; & want to take it to the streets-which, without the licenses you hate, will be filled with gun toting unlicensed drunks. I'll go with words and ballots over your firesticks & anarchy. i know my posts are like shouting at a barking dog so I'll relinquish the floor. Keep your gunpowder dry, bro!
casualobserver51 2 years ago
