  • Dude I cannot do an upstroke

  • is this another one of nicholas cages new movie?

  • @Lannd84 Funny I thought it was another episode of Mad TV.

  • Beautiful guitar!!

  • XDD i think on the turnaround thing you got little bit too carried away :D couldn't blame you, it sounded so cool!

  • I'm a beginner! I don't know how to play the minor chords! Why don't you do this with regular basic chords? This is what's so frustrating to be a beginner, when you're so far removed from being a beginner, you start with something as basic as strumming and you do it with chords a beginner doesn't even know! Also, what's with the chuck part..can you describe what the pattern is with the chuck so i know what the pattern is? This lesson started out great with the explanation of missing a beat.

  • Can I give you a hug?

  • i love this guy

  • you look like nicholas cage!!

  • @ubk95 he looks like jigsaw xD

  • @funatall20s hahahaha !!! yeah i neva noticed that :p xD"

  • @apindayer10 check the angle of the pich. Plus, don't tense it too much.

  • a kind teacher

  • @apindayer10 Don't always worry about hitting every string on that upstroke. You'll get it eventually.

  • what that strum pattern, I can figure it out. It would really help if I could see it writen down, thanks Pete.

  • @apindayer10Is your thumb covering the top of the pick?

  • You remind me of nicholas cage without the suckiness lol

  • How do you make the chucking noise? o_o

  • @ChrisHustles strumming muted notes..

  • Hendrix cord, really cool!

    Greetings from Switzerland

  • the first minute made me feel like I was having a friend console me after a breakup

  • You should wear a different kind of hat every now and then like a cowboy hat or an Indian chief headdress or an Army Helmet.

  • he's the greatest. I've learned so much from him. keep it up man.

  • How to chuck???

  • hes great if he shows a close up off the cords would be even better

  • in my point of view rythm is instinct, never had much trouble with it :\

  • a onie and a twowie and a onie and a twowie. that sounded pretty funny. :P

great lessons. i love all of your lessons!! keep it up and rock on!!

  • Funny!?

I learnt that in 4th grade that rhythm and its important to me! XD

  • no close details on how to place the fingures on which string and how. Strumming pattern was easy but how to place the fingures to play those cords???

  • read the tabs dummy

  • He puts up the finger positions right after he names the chords. Am7 is 575555 from the top down its EADGBe. This means it's a barre chord starting on the 5th fret (lowest number in the chord), you use your index finger to bar across the 5th fret, then use your middle or ring finger on the 7th fret, in this case on the A string.

Follow that for the other finger positions remembering the lowest number is the fret you will be barring.

    Hope this helps.

  • thanks man, now the video makes a lot more sense! :D

  • I wouldnt call this beginner... basic maybe.. but not beginner

  • hi please can u show a close up off the cords u use when playing

  • wtf was that at 1:08!?!??!

  • that's from waterboy i believe... rob shneider??

  • this is cool

  • I record lead guitar parts, and all I need to know is how to make a good rhythm backtrack to play in the background, any tips to make it sound good?

  • You have to do it the other way around.

  • ok so how do i make leads sound good after I make a rhythm part?

  • You can make lead sound good by playing the right scales over the chord, for example over a b minor chord, you can use the b minor pentatonic scale. Just take notes from the scale and form licks, the simplest lick can sound great if you learn how to use vibrato, bends, phrasing etc.. Check nextlevelguitar's video about soloing.

  • thanks i will

  • beginners dont no what the fuck a dm7 is

  • they can look it up

  • you can doo iit!! super helpful

  • what song is he playing ?

  • standard 12-bar blues in Am - No particular song

  • David's lessons are great. I played barre chords for many years (while I was a drummer!) not knowing the chord names. Wanted to get serious about guitar and took a few months of lessons online. I know them now! His lessons are worth the money.

  • I'm seriously confused by guitar tabs. Where it says AM7 - 575555 are you supposed to depress the 5th fret on all all six strings except the A? I'm so confused.

  • i think that means 5 times ... dunno.

  • It means: Take the AM Barre chord, wich would be 577655 if you look at guitar tabs (if you don't know how to make a barre chord, it's when you press down all the strings with your index finger. Just look up a lesson video on youtube, you'll find loads of them), Then leave out the 4th string on the 7th fret and the 3rd string on the 6th fret. That's an AM7 chord. And when you have to depress a string (to mute it, not to let it ring as an open string) they write down an "x" in tabs.

  • thanks , really helped me out ... im still a begginer so ...

    thanks mate.

  • it's a bar cord put your whole first finger on the fifth fret and then your third on 7

  • David Taub is my guitar god!

  • but how do you do the chuk thing??

  • not pressing the strings by realeasing the pressure, just resting your hand over them kinda "muting" the chord, bar chords are the best to learn cuz the bar finger will mute all the strings helped by the other fingers, perfect example or excercise to learn them is "smells like teen spirit" by nirvana, the intro use up and down chuck strumming. Really easy and very fun to use on rhythm stuff. good luck learning them!

  • ok, but r u muting the strings with the right hand or the left one? cuz i read somwhere that its the right hand that does the chuks....?

  • mute the strings with the left, palm muting is with the rigth, don't mix them up cuz you're gonna get the wrong idea. the right hand continues the strumming pattern, it doesn't make any sepecial movement , is the left that loose the pressure a bit from the strings getting them muted and making the chuck sound. other way to learn is covering the strings with all your hand to get the idea of the technique, then move to chuck with chords.

  • ok, i get it, and if u loose the pressure from the strings with the left hand, don't we have some of the strings still ringing, for example if we play the D chord, we will still have the 4th string ringing...?

  • for chords like D, A, E, etc, you have to leave the chord finger position and mute all the strings with the full hand, but that's the next step, go for bar chords first like F, Fm, B and taking them up on the fretboard, get the technique dialed and then go to the rest, will be more easy that way

  • hey can u leave me a comment at my channel explaining this better (wat u said)

  • cool chords, cool lesson. thanks

  • iv'e struggled and im good.

  • I like

  • I thought it was three "strokes" and your out.....

  • He threw in a Hendrix chord :O

  • Very nice, I like it a lot! I must admit I don't think I've every tried a progression like that with all down strokes, never occurred to me... I'll use it!

  • if you use a higher resolution camera we will be able to see this lesson in High Def. You are an awesome teacher.

  • lol I think we all like certain thing wet...

  • Wow, the tone of your guitar sounds wonderful. I've been buying equipment everywhere I go and my sound/tone still sounds like a barrel of cats in heat.

    :(

    dm

  • lol my guitar is the same! its a squier strat with a freedom (crap) amp - ive got a line 6 guitar port hooked up to my guitar but it still sounds like a cat drowning in a bowl of acid! the line 6 helps but the only way to get over this is to spend money on a good guitar _ im looking at the epiphone les paul, cheapish and good sound too - this guy does a test of the epi les paul too.

  • LOL "cat drowning in a bowl of acid!" . I use line6 tone port for my videos, and I say its the best, if you want , take a look at my welcome to the jungle video and see how a epiphone lp will sound... see ya

  • You are really good teacher!
