Love your funk lessons, I play Jazz Fusion but wanted to clean up my funk. One suggestion to the lick at 4:55 where you said it was tricky, I found it easier and more accessible to use my pinky to play D on the 12 fret instead of my ring finger because naturally that finger is closer to that fret, thanks!
