  • does it ave a video mode?

  • @hzuzuknowsall nope, though i believe the 3100 does. (the 3100 is the newer version)

  • If you buy a nikon please do not buy anything from best buy, they sold me a d3000 and a month later the d3100 came out and would not upgrade me into the 3100 even though they sold me the bottom end dslr.

  • well, the videocamera which took this video, needs a VR system

  • Nikon D3000 or Canon T2i ?

  • Don't buy the 3000-get the 3100!!!

  • @Nikon6762 100% AGREE The Nikon D3000 was not a very good camera. Put it this way..There are still unsold Nikon D3000 camera,s for sale even though it has been discontinued well over a Year now. What does that tell you about the Nikon D3000. Pay the extra few £$ and buy the Nikon D3100. Don't get me wrong The D3000 is an OK camera..But that is ALL it is.. OK The D3100 is a class beater and is THE best entry DSLR camera on the market. It beats the Canon 1100d HANDS DOWN!!!!

  • I've had this camera for over a year and a half and love it. It's my very first DSLR and it has really helped me improve my photography skills. I've also purchased a couple of additional lenses as well as a tripod for it. I highly recommend this camera, especially if you're new to DSLR cameras. Even when I get a new Nikon camera body, I will still keep my D3000 as a backup.

  • Stupid question but, do you get the lens with it?

  • @Amyfan2000 Yes. As long as you're not just buying the camera body, you will get the lens kit, which includes an 18-55 mm Nikkor lens.

  • this or the nikon coolpix p500?

  • @WeThePeopleee this one.... DSLRs are always better

  • please reply this camera can recorder and take photos?

  • @BSCVortex unforunately, no, :( I have Nikon D3000

  • @BSCVortex No, it can only take pictures.

  • Is it possible to change you shutter speed on this one??? Are there any advantages for a slower shutter speed?

  • Good review!

  • i have a question. On your video, there was a building at(2:22) what is the name of the building?

  • can it record videos?

  • @froslass054 nope but the nikon d3100 can

  • i mite get this for skateboarding photarify would you recamend it

  • When you take a picture of yourself or something does it give it that professional look to it? Like great quality?

  • more of that black chick please...fap fap fap.

  • What do you mean it's not the cheapest of it's kind? It's the cheapest digital SLR Nikon sells isn't it?

  • @spurpop Nikon is not the only manufacturer of DSLRs.

  • @guitarman2134568 there's no doubt that this difference regarding what's semi pro and expert is smaller these days. d7000 is perhaps all we want. visit... freedsl r . co m remove spaces and take a way to win a new Nikon D7000

  • Does this take hd video?

  • I have a question, does Live View really matter or not? (I'm a beginner). I'm thinking about buying this camera.

  • does this camera take videos, if so....does it have good quality?

  • am about to get this camera for christmas but am useing i this weekend for school and its amazing

  • i have this camera and love it.

  • 2:28=such a pretty pic! If it was foggy it would be SO COOL. :)

  • Why would anyone use the live view feature? Sure it is easier, but it reduces your battery life from an average of 500 shots, to around 250-300 shots on an average DSLR.

  • Why is that last picture in the church ruined? Is that what you call ISO noise? How can you avoid it, or is it just something that depends on the camera/place/whatever?

  • When I'm done with school I'm going for a photographer-education. Im looking for a camera that I can sort of "practice" with. I have had just a little bit of experience with these kind of cameras, so do you think I should get one? Remember I'm a beginner.

  • @MTG115 This is a perfect beginners camera. Affordable, well specified and lots of built-in help for inexperienced users.

  • @WhatDigitalCamera Thanks.. I pretty sure I'm going to buy the camera then :)

  • @WhatDigitalCamera

    user friendly too. :)

  • @WhatDigitalCamera u should get the Nikon D3100. Much better

  • I've been wondering if Megapixels really make a diference to image quality. I know it's a terribly obvious "yes" but then I hear people saying that mega don't matter all that much. It confuses me lol. ATM all I have is a rather dull Samsung compact with only10.2 megapixels, and the Nikon here is the same amount. In short, even though they're both same megapixels, will I stlil see a considerably better quality from the Nikon?

Sorry, I'm still a camera novice ya see XD

  • @DeadWhiteButterflies Size of sensor is more important than how many pixels. All compact cameras now have enough. So do DSLRs, unless you're a pro needing to make giant, highly detailed images. Just because two cameras have same number of pixels doesn't mean quality will be the same. Other factors are important too, especially processor and lens.

  • @WhatDigitalCamera

Oh yeah sure, I can see what you mean. Looking at images produced from this camera, there's an obviously gignatic difference in depth and detail. It was a rather stupid question to ask. I appologise. XD I've still got a lot to learn.

  • @DeadWhiteButterflies The size of the sensor and the quality of the lens have the biggest impact on image quality. More pixels just make for larger images, not better quality ones :)

  • @DeadWhiteButterflies I suppose lots of pixels isn't any good with a rubbish lens. You would be better off, say, with only 4 MP, and a great lens, than 10MP and a rubbish lens.

  • so can you do those cool slow shutter speed pictures were like u keep the camera in one spot like facing a car and u take a picture as the car goes by and the picture shows like a light streek from the cars?

  • @trainlova12 Yes, you can do that with any camera that has manual control over shutter speeds and speeds that can go into several seconds. ie all DSLRs.

  • @WhatDigitalCamera ok thanks a lot!!!

  • @trainlova12 you can do that witha point and shoot, loook to see if it has a "exposure control" setting, long time exposure, be sure to use a tripod and its at night, or it'll just be a flash of white everywhere.

  • now that is the best review i have ever seen in my life .. !!

  • lol.. how long did it take you to make the video? the background goes from daylight to night time

  • That's weird CCD is more expensive to make then CMOS and doesn't have that jelly effect.

  • i hav this D3000 dslr camera.. its SUPERB !!!

  • it says this camera is good for begginers, are there any other cameras similar to this, or around the same price?

  • @MooMaar14 - Canon, Sony and Pentax also make good beginner DSLRs at similar prices to this, though relative prices vary between countries.

  • thank you !

i now own the D3000 and im very happy with it ..

  • What do you think: D3000 or EOS1000D? :-) Getting one of these as my first D-SLR :-)

  • get the Pentax K-x one step up from this camera for an extra $100

  • It sounds funny when people say Nickon =P but good review. not very thorough but it is good for a begginer which this camera is made for =)

  • should i get a D3000 or D60?

  • does it have continuas shooting and is it good for taking pictures of safari?

  • does this camera have continuas shooting? and is it good for taking pictures of safari?

  • what is live view? does that mean you cannot view the pictures you have previously taken?

  • @ItsJulieee - No, Live View is the ability to see the subject on the LCD screen before you take the picture, like you can with a compact. Not all DSLRs have this, because there's a mirror in the way between the lens and sensor, so a secondary sensor (or some other solution) needs to be deployed to provide the Live View feed.

  • @WhatDigitalCamera so does that mean i cannot see the picture im taking on LCD but can only look through the eye lense above the LCD screen?

  • @ItsJulieee correct. pictures must be taken using the viewfinder.

  • @ItsJulieee

LiveView is a feature that allows you to see on camera's display exactly what you are photographing, as you would see through viewfinder. It's different from the Play menu (which does what you mentioned, allowing you to see pictures you previously taken).

  • thanks for al the information

  • i am gftting this in a week, i cant wait

  • Does it have an slot for a shutter button or remote

  • how much is it as its self

  • how much is the camera its self

  • is this good to use with visa home basic

  • Does it has video recording?

  • @15HELA2

  • @15HELA2 No

  • @WhatDigitalCamera GEESE!, what good is that

  • what camera are they using to shoot this segment with? looks pretty good, right?

  • ooooh i hate the guide mode. im glad i have the camera but i wish i could get a different body now.

  • what's difference between CCD and CMOS sensor? which one better?

  • Great video! Are you shooting this video in the Baltimore Science Museum?

  • I just bought this camera and it is my first. I love it!!!

  • Which do you think is better: the Nikon d3000 or the Canon 450d?

  • would this be a good camera for skateboarding? and does it record video?

  • @guitar911schirmer this camera does awesome at everything. as long as you know how to use the settings. no video, but i would recommend a camcorder for that sort of thing. sorry i had to say it. i dont mean any harm to you but cameras are made for photographs.

  • @hahayoullneverknow WELL SAID.. Cameras are indeed made for photographs, I hate where DSLR cameras are going. If I wanted a video camera I would buy a camcorder. I am very reluctant to change my No nonsence Nikon D40 as all the next generation DSLR cameras have video cameras built in to them.. Why buy something I am not going to use. I may buy a brand new D3000 when shops are trying to get rid of them (as it has been replaced by the D3100) and keep it for when my D40 finally packs in working.

  • @guitar911schirmer no to record video is the D5000 is an EXCELENT camera you cant imagine but its like 750 bucks,

  • I love my Nikon D3000... but last nite I was at a Soccer Game and the images i got from the game are not looking good. Whats the best settings for me to capture the players running and playing and what type of lens do i need for Sports events?

  • @latotiscolombia2009

Think for sports you need to be on shutter priority and have it on a high shutter to freeze the action. Also you're gonna need a fairly fast lens for low light sports (anything at night or indoors) so you won't get crap photos, the 50mm 1.8 is a good start but it doesn't zooms or autofocus but it is the cheapest fast lens. For a fast lens that can zoom it unfortunately costs a lot, the 24-70mm f/2.8 is over $1000 :c

  • cool i have it

  • This is my first camera I have purchased for myself, and I LOVE IT. It takes awesome pictures and its so easy to use, and NO I do not only use the auto setting. In fact I hardley ever use it. Awesome camera, good price, Great photos.

  • i read good reviews about this camera..im thinking of replacing my sony a300. but im not sure yet..

  • I'm really confused.

I'm a 14 year old, and I really want to start photography and I've been researching cameras for a couple of months now, and I'm currently stuck on deciding between the d60 and the d3000.

In your opinion (or anyone who sees this comment) which camera is better?

  • @xShishu95 D3000. The D60 is more for advance users. easy interface. But never buy a Reflex camera if you are not knowing about lenses, how to clean you sensor etc. Much people are buying these camera´s because they are thinking there making better pictures with it... Its a big waste of money when you buy a camera like this and you use it only for vacations or other things like this... Those camera´s are probably for the more pro-pictures. Not for the AUTO-setting. ;)

  • This is completely wrong. The D3000 is a DSLR designed for beginners. It has all the convenience of a point and shoot, but with much better image quality and the advanced feature to grow into.

I just ordered the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II and I can hardly wait to get my hands on it.

The D3000 is the perfect camera for novices who have the will to master it and learn about photography.

    I'm very excited about mine.

  • @GradyPhilpott My point is that it is a WASTE of money when someone buys a SLR camera if they are totally "Beginner" and still learning with a compact-camera. By the way, DSLR is not for "complete" beginners. Its for DSLR beginners. Not for someone who only uses AUTO- setting/focus.

  • You're entitled to your view, but the D3000, if you read the material available, is perfectly suited for a complete DSLR beginner, who uses only point and shoot, because not only can the camera do that, but it has tutorials built in to guide the beginner toward more creative work.

The D3000 fills a niche that no other manufacturer fills at this time to my knowledge and at a price not much more than some prosumer mega-zoom compacts, its a very good deal.

  • @xShishu95 If you dont want really doing "photography" or you are a really starter on it i think u can better look for a optical camera. Some of them has manual-focus/zoom (like a reflex camera) and a very cheap these days. They are very good too. (I think Sony,Nikon and Canon sell these too.)

  • D3000 all the way my friend. My first DSLR was a D60 and it only had right, middle and left focus points which can be limiting to your creativity. Also, the LCD is smaller, what else? It doesn't really teach me much except the info button and I had to spend most of my time researching on magazines and online articles and videos but with the D3000 the Guide is everywhere you go. It really can speed up the learning process. I really wish they'd have a D3000 when I started.

  • hello everyone, does it have bracketing? i'm confused, I found out that it doesn't have bracketing but it does have AutoBracketing... Is it true? What's the difference?

  • The D3000 does NOT have autobracketing. You'll have to bracket yourself.

  • Hello, I want to buy this camera for Xmas (it's on sale!) but I'm wondering if it's a good purhase since it doesn't have the video option. Do you suggest I get that has the option (but might cost more), or simply buy an extra (non-reflex? how do you call it?) one... Thank you!

  • @veralynnveralynn

The DSLRs provide a level of photo clarity and detail that you simply can't achieve with a point & shoot camera.

If you want movie mode for casual daily use then no DSLR is good for you as all of them have rolling shutter which brings the jello effect to video which is horrible.

But if you want to shoot videos with camera mounted on tripod and smooth panning then DSLR can provide great video thanks to it's interchangeable lenses

  • I got this camera last Saturday, I would recommend it for first time DSLR buyers. It's really light aswell, so I can carry it all day (I'm 15, small bones :) ) I previously used film and I think this is a perfect upgrade.

  • Oh nice!

I'm going to buy it in 4 days!

but i want it now, on my hands!

where can i find your camera photos?

    bye!

  • I've only taken a few photos so far, ( I wasn't supposed to use it until Christmas, but of course I couldn't resist it) so I havn't much photos uploaded yet.

  • No problem. Thank you guy,

    bye

    W NIKON D3000!

  • @FluffyDuckiee im 14 , gettin that camera aswell :D

  • Yay I love it ;D Took loads of photos already ^u^

  • what are the zoom capability with the standard package?

  • you get the 18-55mm

  • The guide mode may have wowed at presentations, but more likely than not it does not know the answer to your question.

  • i have to say i am a canon man (bought a canon 500D twin lens kit last night) but apart from lack of live view and the noise quality this is a really good camera.

  • Thanks! may I ask, what lens do you recommend for this camera?

  • The 18-55mm VR kit lens is a good start. It isn't much cheaper (maybe £50) to buy the camera without this lens, and you won't get a better one without spending quite a lot more than that. The kit lens is pretty good, though a bit soft at the edges until you stop down a couple of stops.

  • Thanks for the informative reveiw!

  • Very Good Review!
