The more I look at this game (I only got to play it once before my J-Capable PS2 died out), the more it just felt like Sega did a cut-and-paste from TFs 4 and 5 (with a little bit of 3), since what was left of Technosoft wasn't involved.

Always appreciated that every TF always had the same game over jingle, though

I never had any slowdown on the genesis, though i got it fairly often on my SNES. Contra Hard Corps never lagged at all, and I can't think of a game that had more stuff on the screen than that.

Nice that they put in the Thunder Force 4 ship and weapons as a bonus, or as your reward for beating it you get the real Thunder Force experience.

And also:

In you Thunder Force 4 review you fail to discover that after your ship get's modified by your fleet, you then can charge up the CRAW by not shooting and then release that big energy blast / sword, which you have discovered in TF6, apparently.

Go back and play TF4 and be sure to try to use the Sword / Blast this time.

ALSO... absolute credit for the inclusion of the additional music tracks for the Rynex playthrough - unnecessary but much appreciated! Oh, and the spoken dialogue throughout the games levels doesn't sound Japanese does it? Do you cringe when you pair up with fellow Rynex pilots and it appears to say 'there he is' followed by the woman saying 'ThunderForce Six'... yeah, thanks for the reminder, for a second there, kinda thought I was accidentally playing Metal Black or sommat!

I'm still hammering this game. Dropped through the post on Wednesday & I'm hooked! Look forward to your reviews of TFAC,2,3 & 4 (&5?). I've got them all on the Saturn. Not sure which I prefer out of TFAC & TF3 due to obvious similarities! I reckon TF3. Hate 2's overhead sections - the 3rd OH's near impossible. Don't get on with TF4's large scrolling screen, but the graphics are AMAZING! TF5 is awesome... can be pretty tough but its the bomb, as good as the mighty Hyper Duel (a personal fave!)

It could be because you are good at shootem ups or it could be because you only put up easier scenes from the game so you weren't dying but to me this appears to be one of the easier games in the series. Am I right on that? Yeah the games on the Genesis experienced a lot of slow down as well.

The difficulty feels more like Thunder Force III, but it does get harder in level 4 or 5. The level where I was wiped out in 3 or 4 seconds. -CGRHD

You can make it more difficult though. I'm playing on Hard through most of this review with Rynex-R. I found it satisfying and after learning the 1st few levels and what weapons to use I can get through with no problem. It gets harder though, and more strategy is required in level 4 and beyond. It is a bit easy with the standard Phoenix fighter though, but fortunately you can get that Rynex-R. Very fun, I dig it! -CGRHD
