  • i do ATOD not RAD, i was surprised how different it was

  • Why does this have so many dislikes? I thought it was great!

  • how old are you?

  • Sometimes when reading all those comments on ballet vids I actually DO wonder... has it occured to any of those "well meaning critics" who basically aren't doing anything but get out some bitchy and mean comments that there are some girls in this world who will NEVER be perfect ballerinas and who don't even want to be but simply enjoy dancing and are doing as best as they can? what's wrong with telling them, they did good? because they DID.

  • How old is she?

  • Poetry in motion-beautiful!

  • I totally agree that criticism is good and its great that a lot of commentors here take the time to critique others on their dance to better improve them, but at the same time there's a fine line between constructive criticism and sounding bitchy and patronising....

  • i did this for my grade 5 exam haha.. but not en pointe though

  • dont listen to all the mean comments you are amazing ! keep up the great work . P.S they are just jealous that a little girl can dance way better then them : D

  • Cute.

  • i have always deamed about going to R.A.D but i gave up dancing 3 years ago because of being bullied it was the biggest mistake i ever made and i regret it so much it is still my dream to be a dancer and to go to R.A.D xoxo

  • @lollypop39520 RAD is a syllabus, not a place :). There are dance schools all over the world that teach the RAD syllabus, so if you really want to learn RAD ballet, just ring your local dance schools and see who teaches that syllabus. Good luck with your dancing - I hope you can get back into it, if it means that much to you <3

  • @belindaw My daughter studied seven years of RAD syllabus and it really helped shape her into the beautiful dancer she is today. Her teacher was actually British

  • Welcome to the UNWONDERFUL world of RAD. Do ppl know the ludicrously low standard req'd to be a teacher in Britain? It's a big business first, serious art-form last. Standard of Brtish ballet teaching, overall, is a disgrace to my former profession. In Russia & elsewhere one cannot teach ballet if one has not danced professionally first. Here, girls as young as 18 are 'teachers' - they know the society's grade-work so that's fine! 'That's lovely, girls' is their dishonest mantra. GrammAr BTW

  • Me doing!!?? What language?? should be i am doing lol. your english is very worst.

  • @TheLingyee "should be i am doing lol" "your english is very worst"? Isn't that also grammatically wrong? Shouldn't it be "It should be I am doing" and "Your English is very bad". You shouldn't be correcting other people's gramar when yours isn't correct as well. 唔好以為自己識英文就大曬啦~

  • @TheLingyee a) no, she was right b) your english is pretty shit... nice grammer you have

  • .. sie hat eine sehr gute ausstrahlung und talent !

  • love your arabesque!

  • Oh Dear! If you think to dance professionally you have to stop dancing and go to college or something that is look terrible, it's better stop now than regret later

  • Lush! how old were u when u did this and how long had u been on pointe?

  • Those dont look like pointe shoes!

  • @Starlet1125

Welcome to the world of ballet. It is true, we can get quite catty among other dancers. It's only competition, everyone has a competitive side. However, most everyone involved in the performing-visual arts gets catty at some point or another.

  • what age did most people go on pointe x cus my teacher said i could progress onto pointe when i was seven x

  • Excellent job... Make sure to keep your hips square on your arabesque and stretch your foot completely. (when you step don't flex then go through the foot, keep the foot stretched and go completely through the foot) I would like to see more connection with your partner. I look forward to seeing your improvements over the years... over all that was truly amazing :) Cannot wait for you to post even more videos!!! Amazing job!!!!! :D

  • yikes.

  • she looks like she is like 11 or 12

  • is this the grade 5 rad study dance but en pointe? its gorgeous and i think i recognise the steps ridiculously much :L xx

  • @chinchillaar I was thinking that! It's a little different to how I did my study, and slightly different music, but my friend did this en pointe for a performance so I know what it looks like :)

  • I did/do RAD. In which grade do you start pointe?

  • @janagroepl i think 4 or 5

  • @KennyPooBear that's strange because I did 4 and 5 before i quit but we didn't go en pointe:(

  • @janagroepl oh about a year ago i looked online and that what it said....hmmm

  • @KennyPooBear oh, I thought it was grade 6 or intermediate level RAD or something but idk...

  • @janagroepl I don't think there is a specific grade, well at least at my school, but I might be wrong. As far as I know, you go on pointe when your teacher feels you are strong enough to do the exercises safely. Usually between the ages of 10-12. Hope this helped :)

  • pretty sure thats the same choreography as the grade five study but on pointe and different music...

  • remember in arabesque to keep your hips square your opening up a bit, remember your partner, you are dancing with them, not out dancing them. feed off of their energy. connect with whoever you are dancing with.

  • Que tengais suerte...madre mia...no os han dicho que hay que estirar los pies?! abrir...los brazos...nosé!

  • loved it am doing grade 6 in RAD for ballet but i was doing it a year ago and came back to it but since i went back weve been doing intermadiate 2 work so this helps bring back the memories so i can remember it - so thank you for posting this

plus i thought it was an exam that you were doing - with a set outfit and no skirts :]

    loved it anyways :]

  • i didnt like it, im sorry but i didnt

  • what level is this? it doesn't look familiar - but maybe the syllabus has changed considerably since i was schooled, ages and ages ago :)

  • Comment removed

  • Anche noi facciamo sto esercizio a danza :D

  • Could we please have a little decorum when posting? This is a child we are commenting about and therefore is vulnerable by definition. I admire anyone willing to share their skills with the rest of the world on You Tube. They provide many hours of insight and pleasure to us all.

  • You dance beautifully. So many dancers seem really rigid, and a little more work on technique and you will be right up there :)

  • you have really awesome potential :D

  • Did anybody read the comment..... DEMONSTRATION FOR RAD TESTING. It doesn't say this IS her test!

  • It cracks me up that the majority of people being horrible probably can't dance for shit!!! haha I think that it was a good effort for someone evidently young and doing it on stage... well done sweetie xx

  • nice arabesque :)

  • you looked so young here, how old were you?

You people criticising her are probably in no position to do so.

  • royal academy of dance?

    wow the standards have dropped!

  • This isn't the RAD so don't panic standards hav not dropped, I don't really know what this is tbh, says RAD testing weird lol.

  • @lilclare03 It is RAD grade V study B (snowflake) Im doing it for my exam tomorrow

  • Everyone here already said what was "not so good" in her perfomance. But at least I can say she's ypoung enough to still improve it and be the best ballet dancer when she grows up.. :)

  • @EmmaStott1998 i thought so! i was thinking... hmmm i swear i did this in one of my exams... :D

  • No offence but your run and your arms are really ungraceful. My teacher says you can't use them properly, you should have them! (and she mimes cutting your arms off)

  • beautiufl I love it :)

  • I'm starting my pointe work this year, middle of april, thanks 4 giving me a simple idea of it. but i'm scared that doing pointe is pain. is it very pain?

  • @snsdndogssaranghae Hi hi hi I just started pointe this year too it doesn't hurt at all! Though if you like spend half an hour each day on pointe then it would hurt the last fifteen minutes, yes? But the pain's harmless. Beware of ingrown toenails!

  • @snsdndogssaranghae Pointe shoes hurt, as dancing will hurt. If you use your muscles it shouldn't hurt too much in the beginning. Honestly your won't get far in ballet if you don't learn to tolerate pain. Good luck!

  • @snsdndogssaranghae Yes, it hurts. But it only starts to hurt when you get blisters and calluses. Which you will get them.. But yes, of course it hurts. You're going on your toes! Literally. :D

    Good luck.

  • @snsdndogssaranghae it may hurt a little. i swam 6 days out the week and as my legs were so strong from it pointe didnt hurt as much as the other girls. good luck :) i know i was really excited to get my first pointe shoes. its lots of fun but sadly i had to quit wen i was 17 :( been nearly 3 years since i last danced.

  • @musicallytalented2 i've just tried it earlier today for 10mins and last week i did it for an hour. last week it hurts a little. I still can't get on the platform! pls tell me some tips!

  • you have nicee jumps but your hands are ungraceful as is your run..

  • Harlequin and columbine!!!

  • as my teacher would say "have you lost the feeling in your hands? if you can't hold them properly you shouldnt have them!"

  • i think its really nice :) and & liked it! :) congrats! ur dance is beautiful! :)

  • tonnes of portential keep going to class and working on technique and getting stronger feet for pointe xx

  • that was good there wasn't that much on pointe but what was really good you have great arms :D x

  • ..mm your arms and your hands sucks..

  • @SigourneyWashington well that was constructive.

  • I like the dance and the costumes, but you must work on your arms. Otherwise very nice!

  • is this pointe work from pre el? cause im just starting but we havent done pointe work yet. i do RAD aswell

  • I like this videeo! and im in RAD too !

  • your pointe shoes look wack.

  • shut up bitches. i do RAD and did something similar to this - she's probs a whole lot better than you :/

  • point your feet

  • @XoiPodoX i noticed that too but other than that amzzing

  • wow, you're so graceful!

  • • hi!!!! I am a dancer in India working in a dance company based in India . We are looking for ballet and contemporary teachers who would be interested in coming to India for 3-4 months and teaching us. We have had previous training by London and American trainers. We are also willing to work out a cultural exchange programme with you where you could learn an Indian classical style of your choice.

  • I don't do RAD, but the leaps and allegro were quite impressive, arms just need to be a bit more stable (also too much elbow). Since this was a pointe variation, I think the feet could have been pointed more, and also wonder why the choreography did not include more pointe work, I only saw some bourres and piques (would like to see more pointe work)

  • this is the music from the doll in nutcracker right? we were learning that variation the other day :P

  • @olplove Yes it is(: I'm in it. I was the Doll last year

  • The one the camera was focused on was better than the other one :)

  • i think beccka needs to just stop!!!

  • @bmsdancer310 I think you need to learn the rule "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." You were mean, the commentors in this thread are being mean, and *that's* the kind of behavior that needs to stop.

  • Comment removed

  • The negative comments here are really mean. The variation was done very nicely; you have great carriage of your head.

I'm going to guess that most of the commenters who are so nasty are either not dancers at all, or they go to recital-driven American ballet schools where they don't learn real ballet.

  • not very good

are u even wearing pointe shoes? it doesnt look like it

  • @bmsdancer310 It'd be pretty amazing if she was able to do this variation in soft slippers, since you can clearly see she's on full point and all the way over her box.

Pointe shoes are not supposed to look like boxes strapped to your feet. In your videos, it looks like you're wearing boats on your feet. Not to mention, you seem to have absolutely no arch to your feet at all.

  • @Beccka pointes shoes look like pointes!!! and be quiet cause you apprarently know nothing anything about dance!!!

  • @bmsdancer310 5 Look who's talking. In your vids, your pointe shoes are obviously too big, shown by the baggy sides, the space in the heel, the gap between the vamp and your toes and the way you slide down into the box. Your elastic is sewn too far down on the shoe and your ribbons are tied in bows instead of being tucked in.

Plus in terms of technique...your weight is pushed over your big toe instead of centered, and you don't seem to be able to push onto releve...you have to pique or spring.

  • @bmsdancer310 the fact that it doesnt look like shes wearing pointe shoes is actually good:P haha

  • The other girl looks like my friend

  • i hate rad.. i lovee vaganova <3

  • @beskinny13 i go to a vagonova school

  • STRETCH YOUR SUPPORTING LEG

  • @ThisNamesYourMom YESUS CHRIST?!?!?!

  • @PriNathShow sorry, I was just watching loads of ballet videos on this and none of them do. Gets frustrating

  • Isn't this music from the nutcracker when the columbine and harlequin were dancing??

  • apparte alcuni dettagli nn sn andate malissimo certo hanno bisogno di cancellare alcuni errori ma con il tempo si fa tutto

  • the feet r sorta sloppy. they don't point enough and ur arches need to improve but otherwise its okay i suppose.

  • Why do you dance in 6Th position????? And, why do you dance with there bad arm???????

  • @Desy010309 Sixth position is how that movement was to be done for this combination. Her arms are fine.

  • are your feet supposed to be parrallel?

  • @muzicluva000 yes, they are.

  • why are they dancing on a stage i fought it was an exam.

Also i fought you are not allowed to wear ballet skirts

  • @MissKiaziz Who cares????

  • @MissKiaziz Did u see that this is a "Demonstration of Pointe Variation for RAD Testing"~ GOSH. People don't read.

  • @MissKiaziz it depends on your grade, by their age and skirt, i'd say aaround grade fiveish then.

  • @MissKiaziz They're just demonstrating.

  • @MissKiaziz Hmm... i think the word you're looking for is 'thought'.

  • those arent point shoes

  • @caela9lauren if they're not pointe shoes, how is she dancing up on her toes? That'd be really impressive!

  • lovely :) i love the lyrical waltz in grade 5!

  • OMG this is grade five right? :D i did this exam! :)

  • Hey balletcats! What did u get for the vocationals??' :D inter and advancess?

  • Much natural ability. What level RAD is this? I would like to see how you have improved since then. Keep up the good work and ignore rude remarks.

  • what grade of RAD?

  • @Ballet4Everz 5th grade..

  • that was a very pretty video, but they only went up en pointe like 3 times...am i the only one who noticed? its supposed to be a pointe examination lol.

  • @deetothajay1 erm 5 actually

  • By the comments in this video, I have found that a lot of people in the ballet world are Total Bitches!

  • @Starlet1125 now you realise?haha always been

  • @Starlet1125 That isn't true. Ballet is a very structured and disciplined form of dance and needs to be performed a certain way. Although it may come off as crude or mean, it is just a critique in order to better the dancer.

  • @yepdawg17 Have you READ the comments here? They're a bunch of people (most who haven't put their own videos up) taking cheap shots at the dancer about their shoes, and their arms. "It's ugly!" "Not very good!"....how do such comments help a person get better?

  • @Beccka Those are just ignorant comments. In the general ballet world, comments as such would not suffice for even the slightest bit of attention. Those cheap shots mean nothing, I was referring to the claim that "people in the ballet world are total bitches."

  • @yepdawg17 Given that the people in this thread claim to be part of the ballet world, I don't think the assessment is incorrect. The majority of comments in this thread have been nothing but people being mean and rude.

  • @Starlet1125 this is absolutely true.

  • @Starlet1125 We're not bitches, we're just very critical and have huge expectations as well as aspirations.

  • @MomijiYuri she's right. we're bitches.

  • @Starlet1125 i dont think so. i mean bitches are everywhere, its just, there is a hard competition in ballet. also criticism isnt always mean its important to get better! but of course, there are always bitches out there...

  • @Starlet1125 yepp some are !

  • @Starlet1125 yh, but in the end it makes the person such a better dancer, however u have a point. :)

  • @Starlet1125 really ? i cant see anyone ...

  • @Starlet1125 People in the ballet world were trained to notice even the tiniest details in dance. If we want to give her constructive critisism then thats our problem.

  • @BubbleGumee1 Not wrong! Every breath & movement of every muscle ALWAYS under scrutiny in any good class. How else do you improve? The' That was lovely, girls' approach by teachers does pupils NO favours. These girls R sweet but basic technique very poor. Even the running steps R clumsy. Weak feet, arms & torso. Last girl poses with sway-back before exit. Q. How many British-born, British trained prima ballerinas does the Royal Ballet have now Bussell is retired?! Exams do not a ballerina make.

  • @Starlet1125 Oh, absolutely. But really, the biggest bitches are the ones who keep you from developing by telling you everything is perfect and there is nothing to improve.

I love watching her dance though, she did a good job and made it look effortless and lovely. It's a really quick variation to do en pointe too.

  • that was lovely

  • Since there were two dancers, don't you think it would have been nice to video them both?

  • @jngwatson Why? It's a personal video of her, and in the RAD exams, both dancers are doing the same thing. It's not a performance, but an exam.

  • this is the grade 5 classical dance

  • Nice slippers! they're so thin, but very hard to use! You're good!

  • You look like you really dance with heart and feeling

  • your not fully on the box of the pointe show, but pretty good :)

  • @Mikkilov That's what i was thinking, but i wasnt sure until i saw your comment.

  • what shoes are you using here?

  • lol i had to do that dance before!!

  • Im a ballet dancer too and seeing this was amazing! how did you get into RAD?

  • wow ur amazing how old r u? x = ]

  • they have very bad arm and hand positions....

  • @ForeverSuperLove is there any person who isn't irritating to say: o no, your arms are bad. JEZUS look...just look very good.... they dance like angels! it's beautifull can anywone just say 1 compliment?

  • @ForeverSuperLove they're still learning of course they're not going to be perfect :L x

  • I LUV ur dance!! ^^

  • I start point in the summer between grade 6 and 7! So EXCITED!!!

  • @bottlecap1999 Me too:)

  • You are a wonderful dancer and I envy your leg extension when you jump! I think you're a lovely dancer, but you kind of throw your arms behind you too far sometimes. But that's only a minor part of the whole dance, and overall you are really really really really really good!!!!

One question - what RAD grade is this?

You're a beautiful dancer, keep up the great work!

  • Comment removed

  • keep dancing you have great potential ! keep up the good work !

  • pretty nice! im 14 and im starting my pointe!! i love ballet

  • try to point your feet more.

  • I thought you were standing en pointe with ballet slippers! how old were you here?

  • echt slecht, je strekt je benen nauwelijks en het is erg slordig/

  • oh my god thats grade 5 i remember!

  • I think it's grade 5 dance steps ?

  • stretch!get up on pointe tooand where are those lovely smiles

  • This is beautiful ! :) Xx

  • what exam is this dance from?

  • is that point shoes or soft point??

  • This song is from the Nutcracker... Columbine and Harlequin... just sayin :)
