Shiner Bock is actually a decent beer in my opinion. Not one I would buy a six-pack of, but I always include one in my "Make Your Own" six pack at Corner Market (Hattiesburg, MS). Good, not great though.
I have a slight hatred for Shiner......First because, well, thats not a bock....used to be decades ago, now it's classification is "American Dark Lager"....secondly, well, I can't get into that if I want to maintain a career in the beverage & brewing industry....turns out they are bigger then what I thought.....Third, in relation to the second, they are not even a US owned brewery anymore....now owned by Gambrinus out of Mexico. As of 2010 they were also in top 10 largest breweries.
right before I tried it, I chewed on 2 raw cloves of garlic (medicinal purposes). I can still taste/smell the garlic after 30 plus minutes, and after drinking this beer. I'm kinda upset that I couldn't get the full experience from my beer, HOWEVER, I was *not* disappointed in what I had. Now that's good brew
shiner bock is my favorite so far for bocks. i bought the shiner family reunion pack and loved them all except the blonde. i really like the bohemian and i think you should give it a try and review it
JD try the Abita Turbo Dog! Excellent beer!! I had the good luck to try Shiner Bock on tap at a friends house. Very Good! Much better I thought than the bottle! Keep it coming! Another Excellent Review!!
that's my favorite style of glass for beer. easy to pour, easy to drink, easy to clean. you should keep in the freezer though. treat yourself, u deserve it !.. I lived near austin, tx for awhile people drink shiner by the truckload down there and it's cheap !

Everytime I get it it tastes skunked and over-hopped, and is quite expensive, but a lot of "beer people" are quite fond of it. Interested to hear your take.
Gotta love Shiner Boch!!!! You should try Shiner Frost once it comes around. Personally ive never had it but im sure it's good, along with the rest of their beers.
I got a variety pack of Shiner Bock. Apparently it's a Czech and German beer recipe created from the immigrants from these countries who migrated to Texas in the 19th century.
Great beer. The hops is mixed really well. But really, if you do a review, you must get drunk on it and report how terrible the hangover is on a scale from 1-10.
@super0pimp The hangover is absolutely horrible on this beer. One of the worst I've had in a long time, which makes me reluctant to even drink the beer again.
@Markohoppis I drink shiner out of a big ass glass mug. Pouring 2 at a time and have drank myself plumb silly before on shiner.....18+ brews. I have never gotten a hangover from shiner honestly.

shiner bock is a very delicious beer. Surprisingly smooth for a darker beer. I haven't seen all of your videos yet, but I was wondering if you have tried any of their other beers they make. they have 5 or 6 other beers, but the original shiner bock is still my fav. Keep up the good work

I've drunk my share of Shiner. Actually remember a pilgrimage to the Shiner Brewery when I worked for a computer company in TX. Shiner Bock is a beer that I have strong memories of.

mine had almost no head at all and it (the head) was completely gone by my second sip.
i was expecting more flavor so my initial thought was one thumb up because it was pretty light compared to my favorite bocks. but after a few sips and comparing it to the average beer and not the average bock i change my mind and just barely push up the second thumb.
Hey dude, PLEASE review the Shiner 100 Commemorator! It's only gonna be brewed till the end of the year. Really worth trying dude, i'd say its better than their Bock.

I feel in love with Shiner along time ago and i have since taken 2 trips down to Shiner, Texas. I live in Waxahachie, about 25 miles south of dallas so it was about 250 miles. something like that. As someone who lives in Tx, I have to say you're right on the money about this beer. It does have a strong taste and a clean finish. Definitely goes good with brisket and other meats like you say. If you like dark beers like Fat Tire you'll probably like this. If I go out to a bar here in Austin almost every place has it. Thank god! Love Fat Tire but Shiner came first in my drinking history!

of yours you never actually talked about what the beer tastes like. Basically you just drank it and said you liked it. You've definitly improved since then.
You should go back and try tuis again. After having drank better beers you'd probably find shiner bock to be rather average.

I saw this on my local beer store (they got A LOT of different styles of beer in there including a few Rogues), and saw this one. They weren't selling any sixers of it (only 12 packs) so I decided to go with my trusty Dundee Honey Brown for now. Next week, a Rogue beer and Shiner Bock would be crossed off the list. Looking forward to how good they would taste.

Haha I am glad you found the videos. A lot of us photographers while doing post on the computer want to drink a good beer. At least I do post processing on the computer can take a long time and a good beer makes the time go by easier. Thanks for watching.
Went out and picked up a six pack today. Very good beer, great review. We get it out in the Baltimore region, even at a good price. Didn't get so much smoke out of mine though, or head.

I paid $6.99 a six, on sale promotion. Had not seen in the markets before. I will certainly buy again. I recommend it.
Yesterday I tried Shiner's Smokehaus beer. All I can say is quality. This tastes great. The smoked flavor hangs out and presents itself in a very subtle way. Full flavored, this is what I look for in beer. They also make a great Hefeweizen (wheat).
I'm from Texas and it's easy to get Shiner Bock, it's a good beer but if you have too many it can give you a bad hangover...I know from experience. lol
All Shiner beers are good quality brews, it just depends on your taste. One word of advice, make sure you get fresh Shiner beers. The date on the cases and on bottles and cans is the pull date, 120 days after it's born. Try to get Shiner beers that are as fresh as possible, because they don't age well.
I split most of my beer drinking time between Bock and Blonde. And if you get a chance to try Bock on tap, well, it doesn't get any better. Take care.
I agree with superserial1. Shiner Blonde is a great beer. I would compare it to Budweiser but with more flavor and that same Shiner quality. I'm confident you'll like it.

When I first tried this beer i was not impressed...seemed a little flat and bland. I wonder if something happened in transport, because I tried it again this last weekend and WOW...it was VERY good, it goes on my favorites list!

I like Shiner Bock fine (and my dad loves it), but I rarely can detect much taste to it. It has a lot of qualities of Budweiser, which isn't good.

As someone who lives in Tx, I have to say you're right on the money about this beer. It does have a strong taste and a clean finish. Definitely goes good with brisket and other meats like you say. If you like dark beers like Fat Tire you'll probably like this. If I go out to a bar here in Austin almost every place has it. Thank god! Love Fat Tire but Shiner came first in my drinking history!

I notice in these older reviews
of yours you never actually talked about what the beer tastes like. Basically you just drank it and said you liked it. You've definitly improved since then.
You should go back and try tuis again. After having drank better beers you'd probably find shiner bock to be rather average.

I saw this on my local beer store (they got A LOT of different styles of beer in there including a few Rogues), and saw this one. They weren't selling any sixers of it (only 12 packs) so I decided to go with my trusty Dundee Honey Brown for now. Next week, a Rogue beer and Shiner Bock would be crossed off the list. Looking forward to how good they would taste.

I like this beer ok, but I like Celebrator a double bock much better. IMO Shiner Bock tastes like a watered down Celebrator.

Haha I am glad you found the videos. A lot of us photographers while doing post on the computer want to drink a good beer. At least I do post processing on the computer can take a long time and a good beer makes the time go by easier. Thanks for watching.

Went out and picked up a six pack today. Very good beer, great review. We get it out in the Baltimore region, even at a good price. Didn't get so much smoke out of mine though, or head.

btw- to avoid a tall head, pour the beer "slowly" by letting it run down the edge of the glass, and if it starts to foam back off and start again to finish the pourin'
I paid $6.99 a six, on sale promotion. Had not seen in the markets before. I will certainly buy again. I recommend it.

Yesterday I tried Shiner's Smokehaus beer. All I can say is quality. This tastes great. The smoked flavor hangs out and presents itself in a very subtle way. Full flavored, this is what I look for in beer. They also make a great Hefeweizen (wheat).

I'm from Texas and it's easy to get Shiner Bock, it's a good beer but if you have too many it can give you a bad hangover...I know from experience. lol

All Shiner beers are good quality brews, it just depends on your taste. One word of advice, make sure you get fresh Shiner beers. The date on the cases and on bottles and cans is the pull date, 120 days after it's born. Try to get Shiner beers that are as fresh as possible, because they don't age well.
I split most of my beer drinking time between Bock and Blonde. And if you get a chance to try Bock on tap, well, it doesn't get any better. Take care.

I agree with superserial1. Shiner Blonde is a great beer. I would compare it to Budweiser but with more flavor and that same Shiner quality. I'm confident you'll like it.

Well I have been in that position before. And I have made that choice both ways. It depends on how I am feeling. I like Bud American Ale a little more so I drink that more often, but I have gotten the Shiner before as well. Thanks for watching and tell a friend.

When I first tried this beer i was not impressed...seemed a little flat and bland. I wonder if something happened in transport, because I tried it again this last weekend and WOW...it was VERY good, it goes on my favorites list!
