May I just say, Pokesav is amazing. Spending your time breeding to get perfect IV's, Nature and Egg Moves, and then EV Training it, getting it to Level 100, and then topping it off with it's final moves, just takes the piss.

There's nothing wrong with Pokesav either. As long as it has a legitimate nature, moves and abilities, it doesn't matter whether it's hacked or not.

EV training a team may be quite easy. I have about 4 boxes full of Pokemon to use. That is why Pokesav is sexy.

ok i have never understood this, how is it possible that the base stat of a poke (i.e. blissey with 255 hp, ends up with an actual base of 620) is not what it is actually used, i am very confused at this. please respond because i wana learn how to do this

How do vitamins factor into the equation? If I've "maxed" out a stat, can I then feed the pokemon a vitamin that increases that stat to break the limit? Conversly could I use vitamins to increase the stats that I've lowered thanks to my nature up to a point of strength? I feel like this could be very useful on tanks or mixed pokemon.

@lordof0war Vitamins count as evs. Each vitamin raises an ev+10 and they stop being affective at 100 evs

Also I believe that hacked pokémon aren't allowed in wi-fi trades and battles since when you modify an IV, the PID will not change and will be incompatible with the IVs.

I honestly think that pokésav is an "anti-jeu" (french for anti-game or what ever). It takes out all of the fun out of breeding and training your pokémon and in someway kills the feeling of accomplishing something after long and painfully annoying process. However, I do use pokésav to see the exact IVs of my pokémon and see if I EV trained them propaly (I sometimes miscount the number of battles I do).

@Albalrogue Most people who use pokesav/pokegen are ones who are strong competitive players. It takes way too long to do what you said so they just make one which is faster

@dracoblitz1111 Not neccesarily fun, actually it gets frustarting. BUT you feel much more rewarded by EV training your pokes. And is it more fun to actually set a fex numbers in the pokesav? Not in my opinion anyway.

Can I, for example, use Vitamins on the pokemon I want to use in wifi, then level it up with rare candies? Will that be similar to ev training?

@ScelesticFish the problem with vitamins is it doesn't work after 100 evs in a stat (each vitamin gives 10 EVs) so that limits you to 100 EVs per stat. You might be able to fake it if it's a mixed attacker or defender but in general, it'd be too weak for competitive play.

@Nendonintendo Google it for better explanation, but what you do is save your game and use your rare candies. Try to get their level up to at least 10, but the higher the better. If you can't use the day care. These methods mean you have no EVs and you can get the clearest answer, but leveling up normally can work as long as you keep track of those EVs earned. Now take your stats and put them in a IV calculator that you can easily find online, and that will give you a rough estimation.

But other then that, you didn't talk about pokemon characteristics which can really help in quickly seeing your IVs for a single stat.

@deth242 this recognizes the pokemon's best stat ( that is if not more than 1 iv of the same caliber is present) there are people in each version which tell you the extremity of you pokemon's ivs and how many there are. they tell you 2 things, the first one is how well your pokemon is composed with ivs ( outstanding being all stats average nearly 31). the second is pretty much the strength of the pokemon's "best stat".the guy will say "it can't be any better" if the stat is about just about 31

omg sorry im an old time pokemon player. ev training, iv? pokesav? back in 07 was the norm to breed? Geezus i didn't know people where doing these kinds of things. I'm old school yellow version on my green game boy color, I did play the latest ruby and saphire games but I didn't expect hard core trainings on their pokemon, i just beat the game with my fav's and that was it xD.

serebii stat calculater tool is good for figuring out what realistic stats are for any given pokemon. marriland has some useful tools too. IVs are really tough to manipulate...and the whole thing really confuses me still. at least it doesnt matter too much for in game progression

I used IV breeding with Dragonite(male) with a Salamance(female) to get a Salamance or Dragonite with a high IV in both ATK and DEF. It is amazing 0_o!

Thanks NBZ this is helping a lot. Not for me for people I know. Eg. "What are ev's fake?" now I can link these instead of having to explain myself. These are a helpful recourse for any battler when they come across the "nub" who is learning how to battle. Also this brings me to a question. When your battling randoms (aimed at everyone) and u come across an uber noob. What do you do? Personally I try and help them get better because it's the same way I started.

u shouldve mentioned that u always should put 0 ivs in the physical attack stat on all pure special attackers so that they get less dmg from punching theirselves in confusion

and also to put 0 into init when u run a trickroom team

and also dont forget about HP where 31 31 31 31 31 31 sometimes isnt the optimum
