This is a pretty outstanding little piece. Les was shredding mad funk even way back in the Blind Illusion days. He's consistent with his rhythms, even though they come in sections of just a few seconds. I agree with zaiger16, he clearly gets bored quickly with what he's doing. However, while he's doing it for those several seconds, he's doing it right :)

I don't think that you can really call Les a bass player. He's just playing some nonsense shit that doesn't really sound great at all. He's fast and stuff but that's it. As a bass player he is a total shit. The purpose of bass is to keep the rhythm going, with the drums. Les is just soloing and slapping all the time. Cliff is great in writing songs, Les isn't.

Les Claypool is the Genius in all of us. Not only does he slap down the most organized chaos I've ever heard as the rhythm for a song but his frontmanship, stage attire and antics are undeniable! Let the truth be what it is, Les is way to good and has way to many active brain cells to burn on his own ideas to play one note lines as a Metallica fill-in.
