  • I have a jdm d15b vtec head. What you have is a d15b which did come from Japan out of either an 88 crx or a 90 Civic eg. It's a bullshit motor and why put it ^in a 98 hatch? that's a down grade. 103hp non vtec your actually better off with the d15b vtec which comes 130hp stock. Your motor is similar to the US version the d15b7 but at the end of the day that motors garbage. Not to discredit you but it is. My built z6 would clean that up quick as do an Ls or Y8 and on good days b16s

  • @henney5th well my d15b came out of a 2001 honda capa .. and with all the upgrades it dynoed at 110 hp to the wheels and 99tq and i run a 15.6 at the track . and thats what a stock gsr runs ' i dont have the car any more i sold it to a friend and he wrecked it . it was quick for what it was

I'm just saying non vtec d15b makes no sense to me. besides you had a hatch, had you put that motor in a 4dr like mine you wouldn't be doing stock GSR numbers. That extra 20hp would have came in handy and with the upgrades you put would even give you better numbers. But anyways...........I love singles (with vtec). What upgrades did you do to it?

  • @shoballsdeep But why spend $100 less just to see what it would do?! Well.. you could just do a VTEC head on there. I'm helping my buddy boost his non-V JDM D15B in his Del Sol, so you don't HAVE to have VTEC but it's a matter of 20-30 hp, which is quite noticible.

  • Nice man, i have a 94 honda hatchback with d15 non vtec its carb tho not injector and automatic, im wondering if i shud sell it and get a manual vtec one or change it to manual and try to get a turbo on it any advice?

  • on the other hand... i have seen an obd0 d15b before... those came out of ef civics and possibly early model eg's as well. correct me if i am wrong. my knowledge of the D series is limited... other than the long stroke of the motor 89-91mm, z6 or d15b i saw no use for the d15b vtec i used to own.

  • you should check the stamping on the head and the block to see if they match. i have only seen one jdm d15b and that was vtec... it should have both p08 stamps on the head and also on the block somewhere. if it has miss matched stamps that simply means that someone swapped the head off of a non vtec.
