@hgdge actually he wasnt.....sure he had been a little twisted when he was younger due to his parents' deaths but he wasn't evil. when he was older he studied Kinjutsu(Resurrection) and became obsessed with it and became corrupted by power and eventually became obsessed with learning every jutsu in existence....Jiraiya had theorized he went down this path in an attempt to forget his painful memories...over the years he became more corrupt and twisted and became the Orochimaru we know today....

Oro was able to figure out Akatsuki's plans, Tobi's motives and Madara's involvement in them, the Rinnegan's secrets; along with the nature of Zetsu and his abilities, the first Hokage's cells, Gedo Mazo, and presumably the Moon's Eye Plan as well...Yet he was beaten by Itachi? Please. Looking at his genius foresight, I'd say its all according to plan. i never liked how orochimaru was sealed by itachi. i liked it better knowing he was actualy killed by sasuke. i think hes realy gone for good though. at this point in the series i think if kishi wanted to use him again hed at least hint to us that hes still alive or hed have shown up by now or something.

I'm not saying he's my favorite, or that he's the strongest, but Orochimaru may be the most well done character in the show. Things were just so interesting when they were about him....and for such a light hearted and sometimes kinda lame show (I'm not hating, I love it!), Orochimaru could actually make you feel sick to your stomach, yet at the same time you could identify with him. That's hard to write.

@hebimono Yeah, but that's just it. He's crazy O_O He didn't start out being evil, and even with his merciless decisions, there's sound reasoning behind what he says. His intentions started out somewhat pure I think. If you watch the flashbacks from when deaths occurred and they were still the San-nin, he seems genuinely remorseful when people die. It's just...he became twisted. So while he's evil now...I still feel for him, because his humanity was overwhelmed by his need for power.
