  • I like this video, nice work! Even without any explicit clues, everyone assumes the man must be a pedophile. The ending works because it flies in the face of our automatic, universal assumption. As I said, nice work! Check out my channel, I make animations also.

  • it's like the only difference when he was in the mall and inside the house were the people who talked to him....lol!

  • i got ur message

  • no its not annoying at all. i didnt know you could make money off youtube

  • i dont get it...

  • hey paxson, why is it that you have advertisements on your videos?

is it because of the software you use?

  • its because hes a youtube partner. partners get ads on their videos because its clear that theyre popular nd more likely to be seen.

  • i thot he was gonna get ass raped..and i think mentally, he did.

  • I think is very interesting the illustrations in as they interact in the scene, liked:)

  • i agree. i love the narrator in "Reflection"

  • pretty people act ugly as ugly people act pretty/kind

  • I don't think they act that way in particular, it just stands out more when they do.

Beyond the surface, I think it's easiest to fall into acting how you're treated, but it's mostly about personal will.

    Is this what you're saying?

  • umm sorta kinda but i dont understand most of that comment Srry

  • agree , but still dont take rides from strangers!

  • every time i watch this i think the boy's nose is his mouth and that he has this goofy smile on his face

  • lmao me too

  • I think I understand the meaning. All of the "beautiful" people ignored him, while the "ugly paedophile" drove him home and treated him with respect. You shouldn't judge people by their looks.

  • Agreed.

  • well said. I totally agree. I always thought he was santa 2 but that's just a thought.

  • AGREED!

  • Really? I wanted the focus to be more on his absentee parents and the effect that had on their kid. I definitely don't advocate getting in vans with creepy people.

  • I understood this one. What an interesting way you went about your message. I still don't quite understand, however, your video entitled reflection. Can you explain that one to me?

  • The video made me think about the parental relationship. Good work.

  • hmm, i really did not like this one.

  • I still like watching this video after 5 months...

    Is voice is rather nice.

  • Very deep, though I like your movies with a bit easier to understand "sadness".

  • I thought it was so sad how the parents neglected their son.

  • I love this.

  • I didn't get it... =_='

  • Yet another gr8 VID :)

keep them coming dude i have to say i still think reflection is brilliant!

and like sirjcob said it makes you think that the person is a pedophile or something when he isnt.. gr8 vid keep them coming :)

  • I like the cryptic way this was written :)

the guy could had been a pedophile that wasn't at "that" point yet to take the kid. Or, maybe, he just wanted to be near a kid that reminded him of his kid that isn't there anymore.

But then again - I shouldn't try to decrypt something that might not had had a real point to begin with. Could have been made with elements that were just to make you to feel uncomfortable with the situation.

  • Yeah I agree with you. The first time I saw this video I thought he was a pedophile or would kidnap the child. But he just drove him home. I know this may sound silly but I always thought the guy was Santa because of it being Christmas Eve and him saying it was going to be a long night. I think the meaning is not to judge someone based on looks.

  • same i thought he was santa too!

  • this is such a great video, all of your videos are. im so excited that one of my videos in in this ones related videos section *silently freaking out*

hope you have a good day paxson.

  • hey there, very nice work, man! is that your voice telling the story? it's a good narrator voice :)

  • thanks, yeah it is my voice, but i pushed the pitch up a couple semitones so it would fit the character a little better

  • so nice:)

  • Excellent

  • Sorry, I just don't get it...

  • He is trying to tell that all creepy looking people arent bad and dangerous, I think

  • please make the next one with a lottle more sense. thx

  • all your videos are strange. i find them creepy

creepy, but still amazing :) keep makin' them

  • amazing, simply amazing

  • I like your videos, if you find the time, keep making them.

  • umm...wow

  • so the moral of this story is to always accept rides from strange men

  • Yes, but only if they have candy

  • I feel as though I may be acting like an overzealous english teacher in my synopsis but:

It seems as though the child left home because his parent's didn't pay attention to him - hell they didn't even seem to care he was gone. He didn't buy anything at the mall either - maybe he wanted to see what a functional family was like. The man offered him a ride home and even though all of our parents tell us not to talk to strangers, he accepted, probably because of the ineffectualness of them.trust

  • Dude, that was brilliant! 5/5!

  • Amazing.

  • lol, you would think that weird man would rape him.

  • ummm......

  • not only does this ignite peoples paranoia of strange men.

but it still shows not to judge what you see rather than what you hear.

Very young, *children*.. Mall.. *toys*.. stranger dropping off a "gift" being the child. to his house. and the wednesday before christmas... the man had a "long night" ahead of him. could this be santas first stop?

  • i like that thought.

  • Good job!

  • I thought the man would've kidnapped the boy. Guess I should rethink what's going to happen! Great video, favorited.

  • Had the man in this video been clean, shaven, wearing a business suit, etc. I would still be wary of the situation: Where is this adult man taking this child? why is he not taking him to lost and found?

  • He's taking him home.

  • Correct. Now what seems to be the message in the video, from what i have gathered, is that we should not judge people by the way they look. What I am saying is that whether the man looked disheveled or not, the viewer is still wary of this situation. Be it wrong or not, we would worry for the child no matter what the person looks like.

  • What would santa have done?

  • To be honest, I didn't fully "get" what was going on. But that is just me, and I tend not to understand these kinds of works or arts. But still, I did like it.

I mean, the whole time I knew the man would get the child safely home, but for some reason my heart was stilling racing.

  • good animation, well done dude....

  • Is the message even people who do not look good that they mean well?

  • humm.. did you ever think that this video might not have a message?

that this is just a random thing from the mind of paxson?

    i did..

but theres still a message =)

  • I don't think I'm going to judge people on how they look anymore.

  • Another well done piece of work. I really like your videos, very cool.

  • I am sorry you're parents were so disconnected as to your safety. That is very sad.

  • re: culleyb; the ephs are williams' mascot. everyone knows that middlebury's mascot is a kid in a blazer with a set of golf clubs and skis in the back of his dad's old mercedes.

  • Well, that wasn't subtle.

  • just an animation telling a story in his life o.o?

  • nice to see a new video from you man.. reflection is still my favorite..

i love how you leave things wide open for everybody to wonder and think up all of these sometimes unreal theorys for your videos message.

i never really do but i somehow still enjoy your stuff.

  • Oh god it so so sublimely satisfying to see a piece with this level of subtlety. Thank you Paxson. Also, go Ephs!

  • huh???

  • wow o.o

  • Damn, if thats true then it's sad...nice vid pax. ~misctube

PS If you don't 'get it' then maybe you're not thinking about the situation hard enough...

  • cool.

  • I ... Don't really get it, but I don't think people are expected to get it. I don't know.

  • To me it seems to be a commentary of the average disconnected parent.

  • I umm.. Don't get it?

  • I don't get it,can someone tell me the message please?

  • from my earlier comment: "just goes to show that sometimes even people who look creepy really do mean well"

  • nice moral, and great sound quality, 5 stars from me.

  • I was expecting something bad to happen when he got in the car with the stranger - just goes to show that sometimes even people who look creepy really do mean well - great message, Paxson!

  • Very Erin Brokovich-y... It's probably the same guy. "I know where the chemical pools were, Paxson."

  • i thought that guy was gonna touch the boy

  • lolo so did i

  • Very good once again. Your mix of the art and story is great.

  • 50 years ago maybe we would have thought the ride to end in innocence. Today we expect alot worse. Stereotypes are bad, mkay?

  • Better yet - the drive home is innocuous and the experience at home is subversive. Also, the boy is naked in both scenarios, able to be undone at either end of that spectrum.

The driver in the van? Criminal or Samaritan?

    The party-goers: lushes or socialites?

The boy: victim or cognizant body?

  • Wonderful to once again see a video from you. It's been a long while.

How sad this one... What a lonely kid.

Strange the way the impression of the stranger changes by the end. He struck me as slightly salad-fingers-esqe at first...

    Good day.

    -dan'l

  • 1st comment. that was a bit confusing

  • Wow, can quite place my finger on why i really like this, but I do...

    Good stuff!

  • can or cant?
