@artist064 Oh if only all these puzzles would work in real life. I'd buy them all :)
You know they would make for a fun video game though. Have you spoken to any game designers regarding the possibility of making that happen? You could seriously get very rich off a game like that. I know I'd buy it, and if you advertised it on all the Hellraiser sites out there, it would be a hit! All you might need is a small story line to tie it all together
Anyways, I love your puzzle boxes, keep 'em coming
this is so weird i don't understand whats going on in this. can anyone tell what this is exactly for? Is this art or just for entertainment? Does this mean anything? This is seriously confusing the hell out of me!
@hooblertron Well, I'm only guessing here. But I'm thinking all these puzzle box videos by artist067 stem from the Hellraiser movie series. In the movies, there is a puzzle box that when solved, opens a door to Hell. Which is the basic premise for the series. It is a very stylish puzzle box called "The Lament Configuration" google it and you will see loads of info about it online.
In a nutshell, I think artist067 makes these videos for computer art classes, entertainment, and personal interest.
Originally I used Poser. Since the rendering wasn't up to par I moved to Carrara (both usable on Mac) as it renders much better. Eventually I'll move to Max or hopefully Maya.
Pandorics are designed in CAD for better accuracy, Art is done in either Photoshop or Corel (both have advantages) The "object" is then mapped using UVMapper which once you learn it is so cool to work with. I then import the model into the program, put the skins on and once the scene is set, do the animations.
After you do that (and I recommend smaller files say 10 - 30 second clips) I put them together in another program, iMovie works well for getting a good Mp4 together. Next I open the file in Soundbooth and start the fun task of adding hundreds of effects, building the tracks. First the sounds to make one track then the background and then the music until I have the complete multitrack finished as a Mp3.
After that I put in in another program like After Effects to do any extra and combine it all together in iMovie as one Mp4 that's been optimized for best viewing as DVD.
Once you get a hang of the pipeline, you find yourself working on several at once because they take on a life of their own and you multitask. Doing one takes a while but doing a few takes the same amount of time. Stupid not to, so while one is rendering, I'm using CAD to make the next few.
I am a huge fan of these puzzles, but I think I am too ignorant to see how they are solved. Each move has been made, but everytime they are "solved", they look no different then when they started.
Am I missing the truth behind the puzzle, or is the solving merely an understanding of its method?
No you're not missing anything. They go through the motions and when finished look like they did when they first started....if you can't get them back to the original position then you're in trouble.
wish i could see one in real life. A real box, that is probably in the Vaticans library...-rolls eyes- and they won't let anyone in without some kind of permission. Would you think if i asked to see the documents or hell even one of the boxes if they would let me in? LOL Haha probably not
You know what? You're the only one whose said that. I mean, I didn't notice until about two weeks after i posted it and then I was so pissed I wanted to pull it, but then I left it to see if anyone would say something. It's been a year and you sir are the first! You deserve something for your keen eye. And the rest of you....shame on you.
Hmmmm? Does anyone have any thoughts besides the obvious? I'd like to see if anyone comes up with something original. Might be a prize for the best answer as well.
I would like to say congrats for all your 56 boxes. Both their drawings and their names are top-notch. My favorites are The Questing Visionnary and The Cenobites Accord.
Ah the Accord! None of you have a clue about that one. It's gonna mess with all your perceptions and open up a shitload of comments! Be patient all of! I'm saving this one for a special occasion!!
Do people really solve these boxes in life. Or is this creation your imagination. In other words, is this the really way the boxes are solved? Or do you make your own way in solving the boxes.
all these boxes from Artist064 are just raytracing animations, they don't exist for real, and not only that but THEY COULD NOT work that way if they were real.
sha!!! the sounds of drowning in the guys own blood are fuckin real ans scary, great job dude!!!, i don't understand why philiphe made boxes with such horrible purposes, maybe he just was evil...
Well sure there's that. But take into account the time he lived in, how he grew up, what motivated him to create puzzle boxes that would fall into the hands of the depraved and cruel. They don't work on the innocent the same way. They were made to take out bad people. Everyone who opens a box pretty much has it coming if i understand why they were created.
Does anyone know someone who can photo etch? I have the talent but not the facilities. Looking for someone so I can make these and offer them the way they should be.
Spread the word, ask questions and find me someone to etch!!! Good hunting
i have a question....Whats the point of all the boxes? does each one have a different way to solve it? makes me wonder what they belived in back then.
Oh, in that case...The point is, they were created in a time when they were needed. A Zeitgeist if my art history pays off. Each one solve different for each person who solves it. Think of it like this....Frank opened the box a different way then Kirsty since the box responds .........
The point is, they were created in a time when they were needed. A Zeitgeist if my art history pays off. Each one solve different for each person who solves it. Think of it like this....Frank opened the box a different way then Kirsty since the box responds to the opener. Now about the time period they were created in...pre French revolution. People were cruel, death was everywhere and law was different depending on your class...the Marquis de Sade was from then...read up
Not only is it the closest thing to a "working" box that one could solve online but it also explores the premise that there is more than one box and each box is linked to one or more different cenobites depending on how it is solved.
Since repitition is the best teacher, why not kill two birds with one stone. So while I learn and get faster, I put up the results of those test for the fans. If you had taken a moment to watch the films from oldest to newest you may find they become smoother, better and the quality and content improves. Not that any of this matters.
cool vid. it would be fun to have a real version of this just to fiddle with. minus the demonic chains, pain, fear, and eternal damnation of course. just the puzzle and workings in and of themselves
Well I got a Rubick's Cube that plays Silent Night as it disassembles itself into 30 pieces then reconstructs itself into a beachball 4 times its original size. Beat that!
LeMarchand actually created 270 or more of these absolutely tempting and spectacular boxes...but only 16 have been documented....i would love to get my hands on one of these boxes, so i could try and solve it. Phillipe was a genius.....
Nope. Clive Barker noted in the Hellbound Heart that the box was created by Phillipe LeMarchand. This was also touched on in the movies. Go look at the Pyramid Gallery to get started on you answers it'll help or Google LeMarchand or try Wikipedea, all these sites cover this.
You have to ask yourself the question,
Do you really want to Solve this puzzle of the boX's and unleash Hell~Itself,
or
Are you feeling Lucky, only finding a Mystery......
Well do YOU......

the only real way to solve seemingly dangerous hell puzzles like this , is to use reverse engineering!
take it apart and yell at yourself cause you just released hell on earth.
iamnanosec 3 months ago
@iamnanosec Loool u can use reverse engineering or u can search for the diagram :P
imagine someone doing this following stuff:
person: unhh im gonna search on google : "Analogic diagram of an hell puzzle serial numb 777-666-555-666-bBeAst"
12 hours later
Person: fuck i just released hell !
