i dont think this looks like an grindhouse poster at all. they use really warm color palette in their poster usually red and sand yellow. and those heads in the boxes are just something grindhouse would never use. Great tutorial and i see what u are trying to make here but this should not be called Grindhouse poster. maybe Grunge poster =) still nice job and the movie is awesome too!
@Jampper Thanks so much for your feedback! You're right. Dracula AD 1972, Torso, Billy the Kid vs Dracula…the list of grindhouse film posters that use that colour palette is extensive. I've been planning to do a much better version of this tutorial because this one's now four years old—my production values and attention to detail have improve immeasurably! When I do, I'm planning to make much more specific reference to the aesthetics of actual grindhouse posters. Thanks for the feedback!
great tut, i like how you're so calm and thorough.
i'm a newbie to this so i definitely appreciate it. i was wondering if you could make a tut on design techniques like layout and typography. i seem to have lots of ideas, but don't know how to execute properly and i just end up getting frustrated...
Thank you SOOO much for putting this tutorial on here. It's really helped with my poster designs for my college graphic design work. It was simple, awesome and to the point. :)
No problem. Going to put some more tutorials up over the next couple of months focusing on creating comic books in Photoshop, so make sure you subscribe :)
