The red and pink nebula are glowing due to internal excitation, they get their colour because of some prominent hydrogen emission lines.
The blue ones are reflecting light. Blue light is easily scattered while red more easily passes through gases unscattered, (hence our sky is blue and our sunrise/sunset is red).
There are also black clouds which are just gas, supernova remnants which are usually big bubbles.
Well now, where is my warp drive? Cmon, I know we can do it somehow. The minute it is possible for civlian to became crew on starship traveling through galaxy (what a tourist oportunity right?).. i am in.
I know that I can buy a trip around the Earth off the atmosphere, I was joking about traveling to interesting places in our galaxy. Kind of sightseeing with the help of warp engine. No cryo, no sleeping, just a week in the universe :)
Would be nice to be able to travel at the speed of thought to any point in the universe, check out all the interesting and awe inspiring things there is to see. Get close to a black hole without being effected by it. See the galaxies with our naked eyes, not with a telescope.
I can certainly appreciate your meaning, and would give a limb or two to be able to do it.
well if we get past the speed of light techinally( cause i cant spell theoretically?) we can reverse time which in my opinion would make this conversation turn into a very long one
Even if we found a way to travel at light speed it would still take four years to travel to the closest star system (4.2 light years away.) And ten and a half years to the closest known extrasolar planet. (10.5 light years) Many things would still be out of reach.
Scientists say forward time travel is more far more plausible than backwards. And even if you could theoretically travel backwards you would only be able to travel back as far as the first "time machine" was created.
to my limited understanding there are some strange effects that can go for some distance instantaneously. if we could control a quantum force like that, then we would be able to transport information faster than the speed of light. a teleporter could,if such a force exists which i am not sure of, simply send peoples dna and neuro-patterns, then that person could travel faster than the speed of light, granted that wed have to superspeed gestiation as well.
I think this is something that both theists and atheists alike can sit back and admire for their own reasons. It seems there are so few things these two parties can agree own.
You wouldn't see what they represent here, These are overlaps of X-Ray, Radio,Micro, Gamma, InfraRed and UltraViolet light That we can't see, But They are assigned a color code To make it visible to us, Even tho, In reality, We wouldn't and Couldn't be able to see it. But still amazing!
Actually those seem to be just visible light photos. But you are right that you wouldn't see the colours. Human night vision (rods) is not colour sensitive, so it is rare to see much colour when looking through a telescope. Most commonly bright stars will appear red or blue.
When you see gas nebulae through a telescope, if they are bright enough you might see some green, that being the colour our eyes are most sensitive to, and the wavelength of certain Hydrogen and Oxygen emission lines.
SO AMAZING! I LUUUUV SPACE!!

do they emite light? or reflect it?
