  • jeez chuck norris i told u not to fart in the sea

  • 1/2km my ass!

  • @zerker12312 no it was 100 meters tall or at least thats what i heard

  • @skatingtrey nope 524 :P

  • @skatingtrey 1724 feet :P

  • was it really 524 meters tall? like in the 2012 movie O.o? please answer me!

  • @zerker12312

2012 had more than 1500 meters (1 and half kilometers) high waves......

  • I knew a big gold prospector who lived nearby: Bill Hall. He was operating the biggest mining operation in Alaska. He said that there were boats 50 miles inland - and survivors with the boats. He must have been several hundred miles away from this video area. A crowd emerged on a 300 foot bluff; and they all died from the wave. The water in his sink went up like one piece of jello; and burst on the ceiling. A doctor ran around for an hour, not realizing that he was wearing only his belt and gun.

  • I would like to see it myself. From somewhere above, of course.

  • These guys win the record for the biggest wave ever surfed .. and using a boat as a surfboard...

  • I CAME IN THIS WORLD AT THE SAME TIME,,,,,,,,,,,,,WOW

  • At first I was running from the Tsunami, but then I took an arrow to the knee...

  • @GuerrillaThrillah

    IN THE KNEE

IT'S IN THE KNEE YOU FUCKHEAD

  • @Ilikemustard Don't be so harsh, he took a sword in the chest

  • TSUNAMI OR NO TSUNAMI...THAT SCENERY LOOKS SURREAL.

  • megatsunami can get to 2km high, someone said that and i believe it. its cool if it really can..

  • No big deal. Point the bow into the wave and it's no 'biggie'. ;-)

  • The wave was caused by a landslide triggered by a nearby magnitude 7.5 earthquake. The wave itself was 125m high but surges reached up to 524m thanks to the funneling effects of the surrounding geography. Evidence in the treeline suggests that there have been at least two waves that were even larger.

  • is this real? -

  • @iWhiteDots The Lituya Bay Megatsunami happened in Alaska on about July 9, 1958. Heights reached about 1720-1740 feet tall.

    Yes, it is real.

  • @iWhiteDots Very much so.

  • A nuclear bomb would have killed them faster than the wave got to them. I am sad that people would actually BELIEVE such nonsense.

  • @vincexnella

well there were tests on Amchitka for example 1965, 1969 and 1971 (huge, 5 megatons in the sea). They said the last one caused a huge earthquake and tsunami.

The history of nuclear testing shows us the concrete positioning of tests in earthquake ares. That's why it's not a fairy taile but a nightmare.

  • they were testing nucs then. just not on the side of a mountain in a national park above a bay commonly used by fisherman. a little more likely it had something to do with the glacier lituya bay is on the edge of. did u notice the 2 survivors?

  • It was in 1958... IT'S OBVIOUS THE AMERICANS WERE TESTING NUKES AND BLEW HALF THE FUCKING MOUNTAIN UP..

  • @leoandmyles Yeah because the Americans were totally going to test their nukes on national parks near where people live when they have perfectly good bomb ranges in the desert or empty islands in the Pacific at the time -_-

  • Your'e staring at death.

He threw me a life preserver and said "Son., start praying"

    Gulp!

    Rugged landscapes breed rugged men!

  • Dam Nature, You scary!

  • THE MUSIC IS FUCKING SCARY AS SHIT. FUCK THE WATER.

  • nobody wants to be part of United States.... Alaska nd hawaii should be different countries

  • fucking pub

  • omg, its a recreation, why shake the effing camera?

  • Omg....I cant believe this.....I would have fainted or died from heart failure !!!!

  • I can't wrap my mind around being face to face w/ a wave this size....

  • @ 1:30, que the soundtrack from the matrix

  • is this in Canada becuase i live in canada and idk

  • Comment removed

  • @star566ful Did you read the vid title? It says Alaskan super wave...Last I've checked, Alaska was part of the United-States...

  • @star566ful Alaska, in Lituya Bay

  • I tried to tell Chuck Norris he shouldn't do the bomb when he jumped in the water but he wouldn't listen..

  • Comment removed

  • a burg had to drop

  • What caused that was a bigfoot fart while he was taking a swim.

  • True he hasn't changed his clothes since the day of the wave and they did use matrix music. Sounds like someone chasing neo.

  • i think a 500m high wave is a little over the top... i would like to see an image of this wave not just some ones word for it. think about it.... 500m.... come on, as if

  • @freespeeddrift the tree line 1700ft up the mountain side was gone after this happend it wouldve took a wave that big to do that

  • @freespeeddrift Sounds really impossible to me too...

  • @freespeeddrift Well, look at it this way. More people live in Oahu (the Hawaiian Island containing Honolulu) which is over 596 square miles than in all of Alaska which is over 663,268 square miles.

Alaska is one of the most sparsely populated areas in the world and is also the largest state in the U.S.

Point is, pictures of any natural event in Alaska would be sparse and in such an event like this, the likelihood of this wave would be near impossible. It would essentially be a miracle.

  • Interesting film this. Also interesting how he still has the same checked shirts.

  • I'd shit my drawers.

  • Doug was right. T & P were so trolled!!

  • I like the matrix music lol

  • Fake

  • Pretty much.....One of the best, if not THE best documentary I have ever watched. What a rare and crazy phenomenon!

  • Why don't I learn these things in school. It's interesting.

  • Seriously? 500 meters high? That's 1640 feet for those who don't have the meter system. That's damn high.

I read on Wikipedia. And it was 524 meters. (1720 feet) That's like 2012. It's so damn high I would shit my self twice if i saw that one coming to me.

  • I Myself Beleive That They Werent Involved In It And They Are Just Saying They Survived......NoBody Would Be Able To Go 1km Up In The Sky Without Going Into Shock

  • @SebbyDTV u realize that going up 1700ft into the sky isnt that big of problem for the human body

  • Nature is awesome.

  • 1/2km....... as in 1,000+ feet?!? I don't even know what expletive to use I'm so shocked.

  • @faithhahn33 It's about 1600 feet.

  • antes de hablar estupidesas, mejor aprendes a escribir, palomasso

  • im sorri im equieboqueition stupid kings

  • que colo gringos stupid grings

  • I would shit myself and die of fear before the wave hit me...

  • i think these guys are ready for 2012

  • @dhsnowbordlife7 well 2012 isn't going to happen so i guess if another tsunami that was big hit they would be ready

  • @1425Stephen it was a joke

  • @abcaston get ad blocker....

  • You are confusing Palin with Chuck Norris MastrOfPuppets69

  • :)

  • so what caused it?

  • i wish this wave (i heard legends it was 524 meters high) was filmed, i'd pay at least 100 bucks for that

  • @aLeonDegiuamelle 524m??? i wanna seee thattt :(((( damnit where can i find it?

  • @aLeonDegiuamelle Not legends -- it's actually measured by the height to which trees were torn out of the ground and every particle of loose rock and soil was stripped from the bedrock face. It happened in 1957, and nobody was around with a camera, or at least anyone who was either had the good sense to put survival before filming, and lived, or didn't, and died.

But there's hope for video -- Lituya Bay throws off a lot of big tsunamis by the same mechanism.

  • That is some scary shit dude

  • holy freaking crap thats a giant one

  • for all those people who have made fucked up comments get over yourselves and grow up and grow a brain thats if you can pull it out of your ass were the rest of your bullshit is as i can imagine what you would do öh thats right you would all shit yourselves if this happened to you. It is so easy for people like you to sit there and make crap comments but i wonder what would happen if you were put into the same situation thats right panic so get over the tough guy bullshit.

  • i think that it is important for us to know these stories from the survivors of these tragedies, mother nature tells us when she is pissed off but she also looks after us, happy to see that these two people survived and lived to tell us so we have an understanding of what can happen to anybody and anywhere you just dont know when something will happen to you or me, makes you really appreciate life and to savour every moment that we live on this planet and not to take things for granted.

  • @navosa4 You DO know that there is no such being as "mother nature" right?? Retard

  • BLAH THIS IS BS

  • WTF? is that guy on the left from the chuckle brothers? :O holy shit!

  • It would havebeen unlucky if they had been another tsuanmi while they were filming it.

  • Does anyone on YouTube know the difference between the BBC and its commercial arm BBC Worldwide?

  • What's up with the dramatic music?

  • cool..If you like nature than check out my videos...

  • i am right near the ocean and it was late at night and my spine started curling

  • It's just a matter of time - all the cliffs and mountains around the bay, factor in the erosion from the water, someday more land will fall into the bay and start rumbling. It will happen again.

  • accurately 1 mile = 1609.344 meters

    "kilo" means 10^3, so 1 kilometer = 10^3 meters = 1000 meters

that wave was 500 meters high

    lol McRazorblade

  • @nubman0 However,it wasn't really a "wave" that was half a k high, but the water "ran up" to that height, or "splashed" to that height.

  • FUCK YA ADVERTISMENT!!

  • i'll mever fart in a swimming pool again

  • 1,750 ft wave? DAMMMM!!!! SCARY SHIT!!

  • Wait, I just was forced to watch an advertisement for MORMON religion? Get your brainwashing bullshit fantasy nonsense off of here. It should be criminal to advertise ANY religion in ANY form of media.

  • @Jagabot

Same here. Pushing a certain religion should be illegal.

  • at 0:20 the guy on the right looks like Paul Chuckle.

  • Given as discovered by professor Ted bryant a CSIRO scientist., around 500-600 years ago a 110 metre, 360 ft tidal wave did hit the east coast where sydney now is , it would not be suprising to find such a legend in the oral history only 300 years before australia was settled by the british with the first fleet in 1788. Yes is 7 times bigger than the 2004 one. This one inalaska is from a nozzle effect , tiny compared to the 1422 one that hit australia. Image that power being nozzled.

  • Same music as The Matrix

  • 1/2 km high

    a 500m high wave ?

    whaaat ?!?!?!

  • @imowningyourmom no 500m is half a mile, a kilometre is different to a mile

  • @McRazorBlade 500m is half a kilometre (1k metres)

a half a mile is more than 500m

  • @McRazorBlade 500m is half a mile, 1000m is a mile Google it.

  • @McRazorBlade You google it, it's kilo (thousand) metres that's what kilo means 1000, so 500 metres being half of 1 thousand is half of a kilo-metre. No-one needs to google it when you learn that sort of stuff in primary school :D

  • @doiremick86 Shut up you dumb fuck, a mile is different to a kilometer. 500m is half a mile. 1 mile is like 1.61 kilometers dick.

  • @McRazorBlade A mile is approximately 1600m therefore 500m is not half a mile at all...

  • @ConnaireEmery a mile is not 1600 meters. Get your facts right. You are so dumb! You learn that a mile is 1000 meters in primary school! Get your facts right before you start running your mouth little kid!

  • @McRazorBlade HAHAHA you moran

  • @treethuggerben learn how to spell moron you lollipop!

  • @McRazorBlade you haven't been to primary school obviously because a mile is 1600 meters, and a kilometer is 1000 meters. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT before you go on correcting people, kiiid

  • @McRazorBlade I don't even know how to respond to your stupidity, I genuinely feel sorry for you.

  • @McRazorBlade lol at you =)

  • @creesyboyjr sorry McRazorblade i lol'ed' at the wrong guy =P i meant the other guy =)

  • Comment removed

  • @McRazorBlade Go on google and type in what is a mile in metres, I thought the plain english approach would have worked explaining that kilo means 1000, does that mean that 1000 kilograms isn't a ton and it's actually 1.61 tons? Here's another silly question where did you get the information that a mile is 1.61 kilometres? Did you type it into google and realise I'm right and your wrong so you put together a load of insults to make yourself feel better about it and still not admit 1000m is a km?

  • @McRazorBlade Plus here's another clue...no-one else agrees with you they agree with me or is everybody else stupid too?

  • @McRazorBlade you sir are a complete sick fuckin weirdass dumbshit.. i hope you burn yourself with your stupidity.. seriously, 500m = 1/2 mile? who was your teacher that thought you a complete stupidity like that?

approximately a mile is equal to 1.61 kilometers or 1,610 meters. why do we need to convert it? simple, mile is an imperial unit while meter is a metric unit. so saying that half a mile is equal to 500m is complete stupidity. go kill yourself with a toothpick moron.

  • @glenn29th mate, it's been like 3 weeks since we stopped arguing, get over it seriously

  • @glenn29th i thought "complete sick fuckin weirdass dumbshit" was a good insult, but then you fucked it all up with the "burn yourself with your stupity" and totally ruined your rant with that " go kill yourself with a toothpick" shit.

  • @McRazorBlade Please kill yourself you sack of shit for not knowing the difference between km and miles. This is stuff people learn when they are 8 years old.

  • @gimmedaalbatross Well said. go to yahoo answers and see some of the questions; its hideous. youtubes been infected with little fags.

  • @McRazorBlade" no 500m is half a mile, a kilometre is different to a mile"

That may just be THE most retarded thing i have ever heard on youtube. I watch maybe 50 videos a day and read many comments, but you, Sir, have just won first prize in the 'Typing before thinking' awards. Is there anyone you would like to thank?

  • @McRazorBlade Lol, there there, good troll.

  • @Minurath ??? I'm just making a point. Don't be such a dumb fuck next time!

  • @McRazorBlade If your point was to troll around and/or fail at distances, you certainly got your point across.

  • @Minurath Why reply a week later? Let it drop kid.

  • Wow!

  • coz a asy!

  • It looks like the side of the mountain collapsed into the water

  • fake and ghey

  • @TerryMMA85

what fake? this really happened, this is not the onion, this is real, this is bbc, id*ot.

  • @TerryMMA85 dumbass!

  • Hopefully the Tsunami gets Palin!

  • @MastrOfPuppets69 Tsunami wouldnt go near Palin. It has more sense than that.

  • @chanctonbury63 Lmao, touche, touche.

  • More on youtube HERE!!!

    /watch?v=hY7iUKYYqqY

  • Hoooly sshhhhiiiitttttt

  • now dats just plain sad but u cnt stop wat life puts at u

  • Laird Hamilton is kicking himself for missing that wave.

  • thats one helluva ride!!!

  • @phantomf4j the tsunami was generated by a rockslide...basically half a mountain falling into the bay at once from about 3000 feet up.

  • i can just imagine someone looking at them on the wave from a helicopter and their like sup

  • GAY.

  • so instead of dying... this guys have the record of riding the biggest wave ever..

  • @bayernmunchen007 shut the fuck up.

  • He threw the life preserver to the kid and said "better start praying". The kid must have started immediately!

  • Is it just me, but I dont think there should be adverts preceding a BBC program!

  • @WatchAndLearn4 bbc programs are sold to other channels so its prob why :)

  • Comment removed

  • One of the Chuckle Brothers?

  • This guys were very lucky

  • I believe that a huge part of a mountain fell into the water.

  • I wish I had wings.

  • Chuck Norris was cliff diving in Alaska it seems

  • 1:42 > woa the camera man got happy hearing about big waves...

  • Why you did not show the part that say it was a large mad slide that cause the wave.

    Thank you
