  • Muito legal! Parabéns Dudlei! grande abraço!

  • Very well played. Whos the arr. of this version. I notice the melody is in the pedal? And were could I get a score of it. Thanks for your help. Ty

  • met het cjv heb ik dit in mijn jeugd al een fantastisch iets ervaren. het raakte toen, en nu nog mijn hart. heerlijk om te luisteren en te genieten.

  • PARFAIT!

  • Tweede klas lagere school 1959. Ik hoorde dit muziekstuk voor de eerste keer in de Grote Kerk in Alkmaar ter gelegenheid van het huwelijk van onze juf. Het doet nog steeds iets met me als ik het hoor.

  • played with love and talent, thanks. Glory to God forever.

  • Nicely done. I got in trouble with the music director at the church where I used to play because I played it about that speed. The twerp thought it should be played like a bloody dirge. I lost the argument and the job, but not my musical and artistic integrity. After all, the title does say "Joy" and to me, the folks who play it like a dirge have no joy in the performance.

  • This is a beautiful tune not only spiritual but it also potrayed one's ardent desire for Jesus

This is the piece that I will perform on my piano recital on Jan 15, 2011 and I hope I'd be able to play this as good as this pianist.

  • Beautiful.

  • Hermoso........

  • I love this tune

  • Very good, and kept in time too! Too often I've heard some organists slow down at the continuo part. Keep at it, and I would also like to say you should try some different stop settings with this piece too.

  • When I get to heaven, I cannot wait to thank Bach for composing this piece - the best the history of music has ever had to offer. Of course Bach would say that the only thing that makes this great is that it exalts Jesus Christ. And I would have to agree with him on that one.

  • Is that an Allen ADC organ? possibly an ADC 3100?

  • Love the piano version, but this is awesome!!!

  • beats the piano hands down

  • certamente D"us se agrada dessa música!! ela vem Dele

    Isa Adnet

  • Great job mate! I like the speed at which you played it. People just don't understand that it's not just playing it how it's written, but also adding your own "flavour" to the piece. If there are those who don't like the way you play this, let them go somewhere else and let us enjoy your vid. Thanks again, mate. :)

  • Simplesmente emocionante. Difícil ouvir sua interpretação sem encher os olhos d'água...

  • Very good..............

  • Cool......Are you play in the tune on the pedals

  • slow down a bit. wayyyyy to fast. they play this at weddings, you know. the couple don't run down the aisle

  • Thanks ;)

  • are you blind? I have a video online

  • Is it a race? - did the right hand win?

  • Special=)

  • *sigh* you have to play the cantus firmus *tenor* with your left hand *lingual* and the cantus firmalus with your right hand.

The bass 16 FEET ofcourse, with you BOTH FEET.

  • Too fast. >:O

  • it is not to fast in opposite of the real choral for choir and orchestra, but is has NO EMOTION AT ALL... and no phrasing, and the use of the hands and feet are not good at all!!

You have to play bach NON LEGATO!

  • why non-legato?

  • all his works you have to play non legato.. Only not, when there were markings on the original music. This is an transcription from an orchestral work to a trio..... always play the works of bach: NON legato, (exceptions are the ORIGINAL frasing /legato lines).... You have to play baroque music on organ: NON legato.

  • That's true. But generally it's for "longer notes" ex- quarter notes, half notes. Here it's okay for the 8th notes to be legato, assuming he broke after all the phrases.

  • Yes, why do you not play legato?

  • I never said that I didn't.

Don't put words in my mouth.

  • I was agreeing with you...

  • oh, my bad! I thought you were referring to the person above me.

yes, I always wondered why Bach's music wasn't at least SOME played legato. I think Bach's music is beautiful legato; like "Little Fugue in G minor." I think that song is wonderful and can bring out the performer's intepretation to its most abundant yet wonderfully proclaimed ....... o nvm, no sense in arguing anymore. I'm too tired to argue.

  • Post a video of YOU playing it please.... why don't YOU show us how it's done correctly since you are so good?

  • a little to fast,

  • That's very beautiful (:

  • Divine!

  • does anyone know where i can hear catholic mass organ music with vocals (male if possible)? Please message me if you know

  • The Problem is the stops are pulled out but there is no ON light.

If that was a pipe organ then there would be a difference because you cant turn off a pipe organ. Also the sound and the vid AND his hands are off time

Plus too little stops are pulled so its impossibe to produce such a sound.

Ive played organs all my life so don't doubt me.

  • Yes Ive said the same thing before and have been looked down for it!!! I know also that he is not playing this himself.

  • I played that for a church service and I had a huge Allen at my disposal.

    Purrdy song, purrdy setting

  • adpretty, what's wrong with you? are you antimormon? That was an lds chapel and not a Hammond but a Rogers organ. We have one just like it. After reading all your comments I can only wonder as to how u come by being so negative. The man WAS NOT pretending to play! Got it! Now go bury a bone somewhere.

  • Well I play on a Casavant pipe organ, not a Rogers electronic organ!

  • i find that most men play this piece to quick as he is doin i dont know why but still very good

  • this is just beautiful..

is there any way we can use this music for our wedding.. how do we download etc... can anyone help me please?? thanks.. Colleen

  • If u haven't found a copoy 4 your wedding yet, i have one.

  • Wow I am in heaven. What a beautiful music.

  • Look up "Celtic Women's" version. It's beautiful to.

  • Beautiful playing.

  • This piece was composed for the Organ by Bach, and it sounds the best than any other musical instrument.

  • Wonderfull, maravilhoso! Maravilloso, bravíssimo!

  • ok. so post a video of YOU playing it

  • this is beautiful.

  • Amazing sir!!!!!

  • awesome!

  • maravilloso!

  • So beautiful!

  • it's a bit fast?

  • I have been married 18 years and this is the song I chose to have played during the presentation of the Holy Gifts. During this time and very powerful song, I requested that the priest sanctify the altar with the Holy Incense.

  • As if being christian means anything. Christians encompass some of the best and worst people of all time.

  • lol nice one.

  • Talent

  • he was luteran

  • thanks for this beatifull music

  • ooooooo , it is real , just the sound is faster than the video , Very nice job. =] ~Clicknething~

  • Does this young man have a black name tag that says: "Elder?"

I don't think the LDS church likes cameras in their chapels?

The music was great! Even Gordon B. would agree!!

  • WHAT IS THE MODAL OF THIS ORGAN

  • is more slow

  • het loopt niet synchroon helaas... wel mooi gespeeld.

  • the other thing to remember guys is that often times when you post a video to youtube the video and the sound are out of sync. Thats what I think may have happened in this video. It certainly isn't a fake though.

  • you ass hes's using the pedals! DUH! An organ has pedals just like the keys! IDIOT

  • If you go to the end, he raises his hands from the keyboard a whole measure before the sound stops.

As a 40+ year organist I believe this is a live performance. If the sound is fake, he is still playing the correct notes.

    Nice job.

  • Interesting! You say you've been playing for over 40 years, yet your channel states that you are 27. futhermore, you don't have any videos in your profile of you playing to even back this up.

  • You will also notice my profile says I am retired. Don't know where the age 27 come from, nor do I care.

My degree was in Church Music from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, MS in 1976, concentration organ.

Due to Rhumatoid arthritis and a stroke I had in 2004, I am not even able to play the piano at home. I don't have anything to prove. I enjoy good music and play to praise my Lord.

  • And I am sorry to hear that you can no longer play.

  • Comment removed

  • I am not spewing hate nor causing trouble I was merely voicing my opinion that this gentleman here is not playing this. How non-Christian to refer to me that way.

  • You've been voicing this opinion for several pages. We get it, shut up already. At the risk of annoying the poster, there seems to be a "mistake" at roughly 1:28 of the song, so your "opinion" that it's a professional recording dubbed over the video seems highly unlikely. Not to mention the fact that you can clearly hear the sound of him tapping the pedals in several places.

It's all moot anyway, even if the whole thing was faked, SO WHAT? He's not getting paid, so can it you git.

  • Shall we leave the judging to God please? "Let he who has commited no sin, throw the first stone"... "find the log in your own eye before pulling the splinter from someone elses".

  • thank you so much for this music ihave to have it for the church chior

you did it in the way it was intended to be played

  • This is beautiful. I adore you.

  • I think that this piece is the best musical expression of the longing we feel for God that I've ever heard! Our joy in faith of Jesus.

  • Wonderful! Ciao :-)

  • beautiful

  • such a beautiful piece!

  • And what do you suppose this is besides Christian influence?

  • Well done! Bravo! Thank you.

  • bach would be proud dude

  • Nice Eletronic Organ i have just buyed me self a 5 man makin organ to spec of notra dame cathedral and accoustic. this peace of music is the heart and soul of meny bachs music and is a wonderfull peace to play with my cathedral choir singing it.. nice playing .. all the best mate

  • Dudlei That is not a fake Just ignore those stupid people out there .

  • bach was the ac/dc of his time.

  • No. Bach was greater than ac/dc by far in his time for sure. comparing the two is blasphemous.

  • I definilty agree. No "musicians" of our time are on the same standards as Bach and Beethoven and other classical composers.

  • I would say that is highly unfair as the standards were quite different. I'm sure many musicians, were they trained, could also compose for quartets and full orchestras, but that isn't the focus anymore, but I would say that blues and jazz have both been utilized to near perfection in the rock world by numerous artists and would think that they would be remembered as well as Bach and Beethoven.

  • Please watch your language there are women and children also look at U Tube

  • I'll thank you to watch your language!!!!

  • Nice vid!!!! jus ignore thos fuckers who think its fake, they dont know shit!

  • no he was not a catholic

  • was bach not luthern.... Most of his church contats were indeed meant for the luthern mass.

  • Various audio and video formats are re-encoded with varying results on YouTube. In any event, it's absurd to suggest that someone would use this recording to 'fake' a video.

  • what a fake.

  • Not fake. The audio and video are out of sinc. The audio lags the video by over a second.

  • Nice tune but why do you have to fake it?

  • FAKE

  • merry christmas elder x x x

  • I DONT CARE IF IT'S FAKE OR NOT. I like this one. it makes me happy to hear it in this world of Hate,Crime,Lust,Evil, Lack of Respect. I am no means Perfect and would never suggest it I been Bad too in my life so all have you (not superbad like Prison stuff by the way) I try to be good and it's hard when the Country you love is going to the dogs and I fear Christain Music will not be allowed to be played in years to come if Islam etc is going to take over.. Oh god what are we going to do.

  • Ok, I have to agree with you. Countries that were/are orginally christian will one day be dominated by other religions. My big fear is that we will no longer be allowed to play such pieces in public places...I find that very sad.

  • Um... I don't think it's going to be like a total step back in time guys... I mean come on. All religions are having to scale back, but it's not like they're going to murder you for playing your religious music.

  • Open immigration for hispanics!

    They are all Christian!

South America will remain the land of the Christians, even if Europe disappears.

The Vatican will have to move to RIO.

  • Type "sandy davis jesu joy of man's desiring" into the youtube search engine and listen to the correct way to play this piece!

  • I'm singing this all alone in church (I have never done that before) in like a week and I'm excited && scareddddI can practicw though because i'm a pianist and I can play it and sing it

  • i am an organ player, and he isnt faking it,

he changed the manual owith the foot board, there are buttons above the peddles to change the sound.

    check, mate. haha

  • Vous avez raison. Merci

  • During the 2nd section of the piece you play the melody on the bottom manual with your right hand and the pedals for accompaniment and then you Join in with your left hand on the top manual. You cannot play this all on the one manual and there is no way this could be done to produce the sound we are hearing hence it is fake. Look at the version of "Unkoine" playing it here on youtube.

  • If you were in fact an "organ player" you wouldn't refer to yourself to that, rather an "Organist" Check double mate! It's blantanly obvious that he didn't use toe studs to change the registrations!

  • why would he fake it, i can almosy play the piano version of this song and i just started piano

  • Sorry to say, but this guy appears to be faking. I know sound and video can be out of sinc on Youtube, but look at his left hand at about the 12th measure. The organ voice changes, but his hand position on the manual does not.

  • Thank you, someone with sense finally has spoken. you don't need to be a genius to figure out the fact that he is faking it.

I know organs inside out and someone who initially played piano and claims to have only played organ for 1-2 years could not pull off playing this well. The Organ is one of the most complicated and largest instruments ever invented, and is much harder to master then the piano.

  • airwolfe04 - The "organ voice changes" as you put it, because the slower choral part is played on the pedals using a different stop.

The audio and the video are terribly out of sink, the audio being a second or more behind what you see.

  • okay.. here is the truth! Dudlei did acually play this, okay? i was there, I filmed it. so, there! and he played it over and over and over again, presented it to groups of 150+, mission meeting and sacrament meetings and stuff! we were companions over in california, as missionaries, for 6 weeks!

  • I believe it was at the Denkinger chappel in Concord, California, but it may have been another chappel around Concord.. we played at quite a few places.

  • It is a different organ. The Denkinger Chapel has a pipe organ. This organ is like the one at the Antioch Stake center.

  • Good for you for even answering him.

  • Bass Coupler can help us to avoid pedal?

  • Thanks again my friend. I just love hearing your playing of this piece. En Francais, Parfait. Salutations en plus. Raymond

  • are you playing melody w/ your feet? i have a hard time putting melody on the pedals...just not coordinated enough lol

  • This song is one of the most beautiful of Bach's works. I use it often for medititave songs before Mass or after Communion.

  • Friggin beautiful. I play another arrangement of this where I'm organist. Have a nice day.

  • The comments on this video are completely ridiculous. Who gives a )*@#$ if he's really playing it or not? I just like the song. If you're getting that upset, adpretty, over something that someone posted on Youtube, you REALLY need a life.

  • Im not upset at the least, I am just trying to make other people aware that what they might think is true is not always in fact right and true.

  • Seems like you're making an awful lot of effort for just that. Most people don't really care if it's him playing (as evidenced by many of the comments). If he's playing it, cool. If not, I still like the song, though I agree that he shouldn't pass it off as if he is playing it.

  • I'm SURE he is playing it. I also agree 100% with your comment. Sad mais c'est la vie

  • In regards to your last statement "for what purpose would he do this"

Well, why do people plagerize, steal, cheat and lie. I'm so sorry I cannot provide an answer for you.

  • This is a very nice performance.

I turned of the sound and hummed the very familiar song, along with watching your fingers......it's imposible for you not to be playing this.

adpretty seems to be having a few personal problems that usually relate the the female gender, when they are having a really bad day .....or life.......I'm a female too but it's no excuse for being loud..... & persistant.

    Try to be nicer.....O.K.

    Enough said.

  • I am male and that was very sexist what you said. Do you even know what an organ is?

  • I've got a better idea. Why don't you play, record, and post your own video performing this on an organ? Or are the types of "organs" you normally perform on the type that can't be posted here?

  • I think I will do just that, I will play it on a Hammond L-112 and have it posted on here within the next couple of weeks.

  • I vote dudleioliveira is telling the truth. Were you on your mission when you were in California?

  • yes, I was. In the San Francisco East Bay Area.

  • Wow adpretty really does know her organ.

she wants us all to know.... that she knows too....

you must be really good but....

you are not very nice.... are you ?

do you always repeat yourself over and over and........

  • Well played, keep up the good work.

  • LDS Chapels in Brazil do not have organs? Where are you in Brazil is it a small place?

  • I know that in bigger cities like São Paulo they do have organs in most chapels. My chapel however has only a piano.

  • Um, actually, I served in Brasil. Even the smallest areas where a house was used for a chapel had small electric organs.

  • Are you saying that he could easily access an organ, because if so that would be a lie outright for him right there.

  • I guess it really depends on your definition of an organ. See, I never encountered one with pedals while in Minas Gerais. I would still call them small electric organs, though. They certainly were not keyboards. One thing I'm curious about, is why you're so desperate to call him out on this. Seems to me its not really a big deal either way. You can't pass sentence on him anyway, even if he did lie. Maybe you should just let go, forgive, and move on with your life.

  • Also, This in not a fan board. Any comments either positive or negative can be posted on here at the persons discretion.

  • That's right, but you have done nothing in here but attack and tear the guy down with unproven accusations. He hasn't logged in, in 2 weeks so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for him to reply.

Personally I don't care, I enjoy the music not the vitreole and I don't give a crap if he is playing it or it's a CD, I downloaded it so I can hear it whenever I feel like. As for you, I have better things to do with my time than an endless arguments over whether he is playing the organ or not, adios!

  • Unlike most churches the LDS church has no paid ministry and no paid organists. This guy is simply doing his best. Doubtful he even plays this in church except as a special musical number or prelude or postlude.

  • Whether or not he's doing his best is not in question here. I KNOW for a fact that he is NOT playing this! If the LDS church don't pay an organist, that's fine too. I don't charge my church for being the Organist and Choirmaster, however they alway gratify me some way.

  • As many of you have been wondering about my performance, I believe I should say something. First of all, thank you for the comments, both positive and negative. Second, it was really me playing the song - When I made the upload to youtube, the sound did not match the image, I don't know why. Third, I used the same settings the whole time for the song. It's an organ arrangement for the song in which the melody is on the pedals. It was in a LDS Chapel, in Antioch, CA, January 2007.

  • Ok, Now I know for a fact you are faking this! "I used the same settings the whole time for the song" You obviously didn't use the same settings for the whole song, because we hear a audible change, yet you do not move onto a new keyboard or change your style of playing at any given point of the song. In all my years I have never seen an organ that allowed you to play the melody on the pedals and for it to sound like the keyboard.

  • Well, if you'd like to go to Antioch, CA and check the organ, you'll see that it is possible to play the melody in the pedals. I just had to choose a 4" and 8" registration on the upper keyboard, 8" and 16 in the lower one and a 2" and 4" in the pedal. I'm back to my hometown in Brazil and there are no organs available here. If I ever the chance the to play in an organ again, I'd be very glad to play it again and to upload it here.

  • You didn't use the lower keyboard at all and I can see that you obviously didn't play the melody on the pedals. You say there are no organs available where you live, so how did you learn to play the instrument as well as a person who mastered in organ studies at an university. playing the pedals of an organ takes much practice in order to coordinate yourself. you can't play a piano or keyboard for years and then play the pedals on an organ without ever having practiced it before?

  • I have played the piano since I was 11 - there are pianos here, but not organs. I've lived in the US for 2 years and that's where I've learned to play the organ. If you'd like, you may go to the LDS congregation in Brentwood, CA named "the Brentwood 3rd ward" and ask them about a brazilian guy who played the same song and another one as a solo for a worship service around January 2006. At the time, the congregation leader was Bishop Baccioco.

  • Well if thats true then I really hope you add some videos of you playing the piano!

  • whats also interesting is the fact that no stops are pulled out. The sheet music light, preset button lights and foot pedal lights ,the pilot light for the ON button are all not lit and they would be if the organ was in fact turned on!

  • how come the stops are not pulled out? r u blind or what?

  • I see one or two stops pulled out and one or two tabs engaged, not hardly enough to produce the registrations we are hearing!!!

  • I can see at least 4 or 5 on the right. You need glasses.

  • I'm not blind however I am not DEAF either!!!!

  • Another thing I have an exact copy of this song on CD and if I play your video and my Cd together they match perfectly ie. tempo, Length, rests EVERYTHING! The CD song was Played on a pipe organ yet they are the identical registraions ( no audible difference) to yours, NOT POSSIBLE on an electric Organ! If I turned of my speakers and watched you playing this, your fingers are not playing what they are suppose to be playing! I KNOW the song and I KNOW the fingering and it just don't add up!!!

  • Finally, I see you have no other performaces in your account (Aft
